Theodore Grant was truly enraged by my third slap this ti. He furiously bent his elbow to strike backward, clearly venting all his anger on the person who had grabbed his wrist from behind!

However, the expected cry of pain never ca. Instead, the person behind him skillfully restrained Theodore Grant, pinning both of his arms behind his back.

"You..."

Theodore Grant narrowed his eyes and looked back, his gaze sharp and murderous.

But when he saw the person behind him, the expression on his face froze. "Sebastian Forrest?"

Sebastian Forrest glanced at him, his eyes emotionless and cold. "Don’t cause a scene in the hospital. So many people are watching!"

Theodore Grant pressed his lips together, unwilling to back down. He forcefully tried to pull his arm back, and Sebastian Forrest took the cue to let him go.

"Theodore Grant!"

Just then, my older brother, having heard the commotion outside, rushed out. His eyes were bloodshot as he let out a yell and charged toward Theodore Grant.

Noah Brown, who had been following close behind, saw what was happening and quickly intercepted my older brother.

"What are you all doing?!" My mother-in-law was frantic. "Stop fighting..."

But she couldn’t stop them at all.

Besides, my mother-in-law knew that what Theodore Grant did today was truly outrageous—not to ntion it had cost soone their life!

"Sebastian, hurry and get Theodore Grant out of here!"

As Sebastian Forrest forcefully dragged Theodore Grant away, the chaotic scene at the hospital room door finally ca to an end.

...

For the next few days, the Grant Family didn’t show up again.

I was busy with my mother’s funeral, so busy that I didn’t even have ti to grieve.

Today, a nurse from the hospital called again, asking to go to the hospital and collect my mother’s belongings.

Chloe Miller couldn’t bear the thought of going alone, so she went to the hospital with .

My mother hadn’t been in the hospital for very long, but she had left behind many things.

I had only brought one suitcase this ti, but I realized it wasn’t nearly enough to hold everything.

"Chelsea, wait here for . I’m going to ask a nurse for a bag," Chloe Miller instructed, clearly worried. "I’ll be right back, so don’t wander off."

I nodded. "Okay."

After Chloe Miller left the room, I got up to tidy the bed and see if anything had been left behind.

As I lifted the pillow, I saw sothing underneath it.

It was in a small cloth bag.

I pulled open the drawstring and saw several balls of colorful yarn, along with a half-finished baby hat...

My vision blurred. It felt as if a giant hand was crushing my heart, the pain so intense I could barely breathe.

This was the little hat my mother had been knitting for my unborn child...

I could just imagine how, when she was secretly knitting this hat behind everyone’s back, she must have been looking forward to seeing my child be born.

But she never got the chance...

All because of .

It was all because of ...

I couldn’t help but clutch the half-finished baby hat, squat down on the floor, and break into choked sobs.

"Chelsea!"

When Chloe Miller rushed back and saw squatting on the floor crying, she hurried over anxiously and helped up.

She first watched the big tears roll down my nose, then her gaze finally fell on the baby hat in my hands...

"Chelsea, don’t cry. Don’t make Auntie Penelope worry on her way..." At this, Chloe Miller’s eyes reddened. She turned away, wiped a tear, and forced herself to comfort .

I don’t know how long I cried. My intermittent sobs were weak and drawn out, like a small animal that had been tornted to its limit but couldn’t find its mother for protection.

I finally looked up when I had cried myself hoarse, my swollen, red eyes eting Chloe Miller’s. "Chloe, I’ve made up my mind."

Chloe Miller reached out and tucked my tear-soaked bangs behind my ear. Her voice was muffled as she asked, "Made up your mind about what?"

I took a deep breath. "I want a divorce."

The mont the word ’divorce’ left my lips, an unprecedented sense of relief washed over .

Chloe Miller stared at in astonishnt. It was a long mont before she pressed her lips together and glanced worriedly at my stomach. "Then what about your baby? You don’t want it either?"

I instinctively caressed my lower abdon. Ten days had passed since the day I learned I was carrying a new life.

But in those ten days, it felt like ten years had gone by.

I lost the mother I loved most...

And I let her leave this world with regret.

"Yes, I don’t want it."

"Are you sure?" Chloe Miller’s face was a mask of conflict.

I turned to look at Chloe Miller, knowing she was afraid I would regret it, but...

"I can’t keep this child."

I took a deep breath, trying to hold back my tears. "If I keep this child, Theodore Grant and I will never have a clean break."

’This ti, I’m going to rip Theodore Grant out of my life completely!’

’Even if it ans tearing out a chunk of my own flesh and blood...’

’I won’t hesitate!’

...

Chloe Miller knew that while I might have a gentle personality, once I made up my mind, wild horses couldn’t drag away.

Just like when I had married Theodore Grant without a second thought.

But even though Chloe Miller had a carefree personality, she was a real softy at heart.

"Don’t be in such a rush to decide! You can divorce Theodore Grant first, and as for the baby..." Chloe Miller pressed her lips together. "He doesn’t know you’re pregnant, right?"

I instinctively lowered my gaze, suddenly rembering the promise Theodore Grant and I had made before the wedding—we had agreed to go to the hospital for a check-up together after the ceremony...

Back then, the plan was for him to personally retrieve my pregnancy report from the lab machine and find out he was going to be a father.

But now—

’He might never know that we almost had a child together...’

I let out a heavy sigh. "No, he doesn’t know."

Chloe Miller was still too soft-hearted.

"Just divorce Theodore Grant first. As for the baby, you can decide later..." Chloe Miller squeezed my hand. "When the ti cos, if you’re really set on it, I’ll go with you to get the abortion."

Looking at Chloe Miller’s face, a wave of warmth washed over my heart.

In the days since my mother passed away, if Chloe Miller hadn’t been by my side, I probably wouldn’t have made it through.

"Chloe, thank you."

"It’s okay, Chelsea. Co here."

After we finished packing up the things from the hospital, Chloe Miller drove to the Grant Family’s ho.

When my mother-in-law heard I was back, she rushed out of the house to greet , her face etched with concern. "Chelsea, you’re finally back."

As she spoke, her eyes reddened slightly. "You poor child, you’ve suffered so much..."

I took a deep breath, feeling a sting in my nose.

In the Grant Family, my mother-in-law was the only one who was good to ; she doted on as if I were her own daughter.

If she hadn’t protected all these years, my life in the Grant Family would not have been so comfortable.

"I ca back to pack my things."

My mother-in-law froze for a second, then, as if she realized sothing, quickly said, "It’s a good idea for you to move back to your family’s ho for a while. I’ll have the staff help you pack..."

I shook my head, cutting her off. "I’m divorcing Theodore Grant."
