I couldn’t help but pause, my brow furrowing slightly.

Theodore Grant was leaning against a car door. Pedestrians bustled past, but he stood there, motionless, letting the curious gazes of passersby wash over him.

The brilliant sunlight illuminated him, accentuating his refined, handso features.

Seemingly spotting as I left the building, Theodore Grant finally straightened up. His gaze swept over Julian Hayes, who was beside , before a faint smile touched his lips and he started walking our way.

"Chelsea, off work?" Theodore Grant asked with a smile. "Want to get sothing to eat?"

anwhile, Julian Hayes, beside , was also sizing up Theodore Grant. He clearly recognized him, and his brow furrowed as he took half a step forward, positioning himself slightly in front of .

"What is it? Do you need sothing?" I asked, my voice cold.

Theodore Grant’s eyes slid from Julian Hayes to my face. He pressed his lips together. "Chelsea, I need to talk to you."

"I’m sorry, but I’m about to have dinner with my colleague..."

But Theodore Grant wasn’t the least bit annoyed. "Okay, that’s fine. I’ll wait for you to finish."

I couldn’t help but frown. ’It’s like he’s a completely different person.’

The old Theodore Grant was so arrogant. As a man born with a silver spoon, he never knew the aning of condescension. When did he learn to be so humble and subservient? I almost didn’t recognize him.

I pressed my lips together. ’It’s better to get certain things out in the open sooner rather than later to avoid future trouble.’

With that in mind, I turned to Julian Hayes with an apologetic look. "Hayes, could you wait for for a few minutes? I just need a quick word with him."

Julian Hayes smiled. "No problem. I’ll wait for you over there."

As he spoke, he glanced back at Theodore Grant before turning to again. "Call if you need anything."

"Thanks, Hayes."

Once Julian Hayes was a short distance away, I retracted my gaze and took the initiative. "Go on. What did you want to say to ?"

But Theodore Grant didn’t answer. The stark white light hit his face, making his brow bone seem deeper and his dark eyes fixated on .

My patience wore thin. "If you’re not going to say anything, I’m leaving," I said with a frown.

"Chelsea..." Theodore Grant grabbed my wrist.

I yanked it away almost instinctively, my brow furrowed.

Theodore Grant looked dejectedly at his rejected hand. A bitter smile touched his lips as he finally spoke. "Lately, I’ve been reliving every mont we had together, thinking about how you chased after for ten years... Even when I gave you the cold shoulder, you were never discouraged. When you looked at , your eyes always shone, and you’d smile at ..."

His Adam’s apple bobbed. "So, no matter how cold you are to now, I won’t bla you... This is all my just deserts..."

I couldn’t believe Theodore Grant still hadn’t given up. A sense of frustration washed over for so reason.

They say affection that cos too late is worthless.

’Who is he putting on this act of deep, unwavering devotion for?’

"Theodore Grant, I’m going to tell you this one last ti..." I took a deep breath. "We are divorced. Regardless of the past, what we had is over. I don’t want anything to do with you ever again..."

"Chelsea..."

Before Theodore Grant could finish, I cut him off coldly. "Let finish."

"Okay." Theodore Grant pressed his lips together, looking at with intense earnestness. His eyes were full of humility.

"Theodore Grant, no one waits around forever. And the world doesn’t revolve around you. We’re both adults. Can’t we just be mature about this and make a clean break?"

Theodore Grant shook his head almost instinctively. "I don’t want to."

"Chelsea, no matter what you say, I’m not giving up on you..."

Seeing how stubborn he was being, my last shred of patience vanished. "Alright, I’ve said my piece. Is there anything else? If not, I’m going to dinner."

A pained expression crossed Theodore Grant’s face.

I knew what was causing his pain.

The old would never have spoken to Theodore Grant in this tone. I used to have endless patience for him. No matter how he treated , I always greeted him with a smile.

Seeing that Theodore Grant had nothing more to say, I turned and walked away without a second thought.

Julian Hayes saw coming and hurried over. He glanced at Theodore Grant before asking, "All done?"

"Yeah. Let’s go eat."

"Okay."

Since we were short on ti, Julian Hayes and I just ate at a restaurant near the office. We were the lead voice actors for the new project, so naturally, we had to discuss the relevant details.

After dinner, Julian Hayes and I walked back. As we passed by the company entrance, I saw Theodore Grant still standing there, waiting.

When he saw return, he instinctively straightened his posture, his expression a mixture of humility and anxiety.

A sour feeling stirred in my heart, but it wasn’t pity.

It was because I found it pathetic.

’Does he really think I’ll go soft and forgive him?’

’And what makes him think I have to buy this act he’s putting on?’

The truth is, from start to finish, Theodore Grant hadn’t changed at all.

He was still the sa self-righteous, condescending Theodore Grant.

He didn’t even know what it truly ant to love soone.

I coolly averted my gaze and walked straight into the company building with Julian Hayes, not looking at Theodore again.

The afternoon was filled with more etings.

But thanks to the progress we made in the morning, the afternoon eting went exceptionally smoothly, and the whole company reached a consensus.

All that was left was to knuckle down and get to work.

Before we knew it, it was ti to clock out for the day.

However, everyone was so pumped up, their minds completely occupied with the project plan, that no one even noticed it was quitting ti.

"Well now, look how busy everyone is!"

Just then, a casual voice piped up. "Looks like I’ll have to double the year-end bonuses..."

"President Forrest."

"President Forrest is here..."

I instinctively looked up and t Sebastian Forrest’s smiling face.

"I had Henry Paxton order dinner for everyone. Let’s all go eat first."

"Wow, thank you, President Forrest! I didn’t even realize it until you ntioned it, but I’m starving..."

"Let’s go, let’s go, ti to eat."

As everyone filed out of the conference room, only Julian Hayes, Sebastian Forrest, and I were left.

But Sebastian Forrest, acting as if he hadn’t even seen Julian Hayes, walked straight to my side and said in a low voice, "I had sothing special made for you. All your favorites."

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "You don’t have to. I can just eat with everyone else."

"Nope, can’t have that." A slight smile played on Sebastian Forrest’s lips as his gaze drifted down to my lower abdon. "We can’t neglect our child. This little one is a picky eater..."

Julian Hayes’s head snapped up, his eyes wide with what looked like pure shock.

Hearing him bring that up so recklessly, I was so frantic I nearly reached out to cover his mouth.

’Is... is that sothing you can just say out loud?!’
