When his finger gently brushed against the tip of my nose, I looked down, feeling a little self-conscious. The tips of my ears grew hot.
At this, the color drained from Theodore Grant’s face. He imdiately pulled out his phone to make a call.
I couldn’t hear what the person on the other end was saying, but as I watched Theodore Grant’s expression grow darker and darker, I knew Sebastian Forrest hadn’t been lying.
He really had rescued my older brother!
"Sebastian Forrest!" Theodore Grant snarled, practically grinding his teeth.
"Resorting to despicable tactics like kidnapping and threats... Theodore Grant, you’ve really outdone yourself." Sebastian Forrest’s voice was calm, but anyone who knew him could tell he was furious.
Theodore Grant snorted coldly. "Don’t you dare pretend to be so righteous gentleman in front of . You’re capable of stealing your brother’s girl, so what right do you have to lecture ?"
"Stealing his girl?" Sebastian Forrest dug a finger in his ear, looking completely nonchalant. "I was just putting on an act with Chelsea back then. Couldn’t you tell? It was just to push you into a quick divorce."
I turned to him, utterly shocked. I couldn’t believe Sebastian Forrest would just co out and say that.
"What?" Theodore Grant was just as stunned, as if he couldn’t believe his ears. "You... you and Chelsea..."
But before Theodore Grant could finish, Sebastian Forrest suddenly cut in. "But things are different now."
Theodore Grant’s heart clenched, and even his voice sounded a little stiff. "How are they different?"
Sebastian Forrest suddenly smiled. "You don’t know how?"
"What do you an?"
Sebastian Forrest just smirked but said nothing more. He turned, took my hand, and started leading away. With his other hand, he gave a jaunty wave in the air—effortlessly cool—leaving Theodore Grant standing there alone, his face dark and grim.
...
Sebastian Forrest held my hand as he led away. But I soon realized we weren’t heading for the school gates, but toward the academic building...
By the ti we reached the academic building, I glanced back—Theodore Grant was no longer in sight.
’Since Sebastian Forrest just told Theodore Grant that we were only putting on an act, there’s no need to keep it up anymore.’
But just as I was about to pull my hand away, Sebastian Forrest seed to sense my movent. He glanced back, his eyes landing on our joined hands, an enigmatic smile on his face. "What’s wrong?"
"Um..." My palm suddenly felt a little sweaty. "Theodore Grant is gone now. You can let go."
Sebastian Forrest chuckled softly. He began to trace his thumb over the back of my hand. The friction of his rough skin against mine felt like a jolt of electricity, making look up at him in surprise, only to et his jet-black eyes.
"Starting today, I’m never letting go again."
I blinked, a little dazed, my heart pounding in my chest. "S-Senior Forrest..."
Sebastian Forrest’s gaze was intense as he looked at . He raised a hand and gently caressed my cheek. There was a breathtaking depth in his eyes that made it hard to et his gaze. "Rember how I told you yesterday I was going to take you sowhere?"
I swallowed unconsciously and nodded. "I rember..."
Sebastian Forrest smiled faintly. "Co with ."
I followed behind him in a daze, our hands still intertwined.
I couldn’t tell if it was my palm or Sebastian’s that was sweating, but our clasped hands were clammy, our shared body heat steadily rising...
But just then, I suddenly saw that the walls of the hallway in the academic building were covered in photos!
As far as the eye could see, the walls were plastered with them!
"This is..." I was so shocked my jaw dropped. I instinctively turned to look at Sebastian Forrest.
Sebastian Forrest just smiled. "See for yourself."
Only then did I take a closer look at the photos on the wall, and I was astonished to find that I was in every single one of them!
So were of from the front, so from the side, and so from behind...
My face a mask of astonishnt, I walked and looked, following the pictures until I ca to the final wall. There, spelled out in flower petals, was a line of large, elegant script—*Chelsea Joyce, I’ve liked you for a very, very long ti!*
I couldn’t help but cover my mouth as I turned to look at Sebastian Forrest.
I saw him give a slight smile. "And, of course, I still do."
’Such a direct confession!’
I couldn’t stop my eyes from turning red. "Senior Forrest..."
Sebastian Forrest looked at with that sa intense gaze. "Chelsea Joyce, will you be my girlfriend?"
In that instant, my mind went completely blank.
When I ca to my senses, I subconsciously clenched my fists. It took all my effort to find my voice. "Senior Forrest, I’m sor—"
But before I could finish, Sebastian Forrest cut off, his voice low. "Don’t be so quick to reject . I just wanted to let you know that starting today, I’m officially going on the offensive. You have to at least give a chance to pursue you, right?"
My lips parted, but I found I didn’t know what to say.
’I’d suspected before that Sebastian Forrest might like , but I always thought it was impossible...’
’But now, everything was laid out right in front of . I had no choice but to face reality.’
’But—’
’How could this be possible?’
’How could Sebastian Forrest possibly like ?’
’And he’s liked for a long ti?’
But the photos were the proof. The ti span they covered was enormous, starting from my very first day at Sunstone Middle School, all the way through high school, college, graduation, and even my first job...
"Why?"
"What?" Sebastian Forrest instinctively bent down slightly, leaning in closer to .
By the ti I snapped out of it, I realized I had actually voiced my thoughts out loud...
I couldn’t help but look up at Sebastian Forrest, my gaze eting his. It was only then that I noticed how long his eyelashes were. They trembled faintly with each breath, and every flutter felt like it was brushing against my heart.
I quickly looked away. "I... I was asking why..."
"Why I like you?"
The tips of my ears turned red. I forced myself to nod. "Mhm..."
"Why not?"
Sebastian Forrest smiled. "Do you rember the first ti we t?"
’The first ti?’
I frowned in confusion, trying my hardest to recall my first eting with Sebastian Forrest.
But no matter how hard I wracked my brain, I couldn’t rember when we first t...
Sebastian Forrest chuckled, as if he could see my predicant but chose not to point it out. He just continued, "It was the first day of school for you freshn. You were the new student representative, about to go on stage to give a speech. Backstage, I accidentally stepped on your shoe and it ca off..."
As soon as he said that, the mory ca flooding back—that really did happen!
It was just that I was so nervous back then. After hearing him apologize, I just said "It’s fine" without even looking back, slipped my shoe back on, and walked onto the stage...
