As the two of them argued, Sebastian Forrest’s expression darkened.

"Theodore Grant, let go of !" I twisted my head and snarled. "We’re divorced now! I have nothing to do with you anymore!"

Perhaps because I so rarely spoke to Theodore Grant so harshly, he was stunned for a mont, his eyes filled with disbelief.

Sebastian Forrest imdiately gave a firm pull, drawing behind him and blocking from Theodore Grant’s line of sight.

Theodore Grant glared at Sebastian Forrest, then let out a cold laugh. "Sebastian Forrest, you’re certainly keeping a tight leash on another man’s wife! But so what? The person Chelsea Joyce cares about most is still !"

Sebastian Forrest’s lips quirked, but his voice was full of scorn. "How much have you had to drink? To be this wasted?"

Theodore Grant snorted. "Are you telling Chelsea Joyce doesn’t have any feelings for anymore? She’s been in love with for over a decade. How many days have you two been together? Just admit it. You can’t compare to the place I hold in Chelsea’s heart. Otherwise, why would she even be here?!"

"To watch the show, of course." Sebastian Forrest’s lips curved into a smile. "I told her there would be so major drama at today’s engagent party and invited her specifically. You should stop being so full of yourself."

The color drained from Theodore Grant’s face. "What are you talking about? What show?"

But Sebastian Forrest completely ignored him. He turned and reached for my hand. Just as I was about to go along with it, he suddenly took my hand and laced his fingers through mine.

"You’ll find out soon enough."

Leaving Theodore with that ambiguous parting shot, he led toward the banquet hall.

As Sebastian Forrest led by the hand, we drew quite a few stares.

Of course, I knew those stares were for him, not .

My presence at this engagent party would have been bombshell news, but our two-year marriage had been kept a secret. Aside from Theodore Grant’s close friends and family, almost no one knew I existed.

"Senior Forrest..."

Sebastian Forrest led all the way back to where we were before. When I t Jude Miller’s teasing, suggestive gaze, I felt a little awkward and tried to pull my hand away.

Sebastian Forrest didn’t seem to mind and let go of my hand imdiately.

"Why did you say all that to Theodore Grant just now? When everything cos out later, he’s going to suspect you first..."

Sebastian Forrest’s lips curved. "Let him. What’s it to ?"

"..."

Then, he chuckled softly, a sharp glint flashing in his dark eyes. "Do you really think he wouldn’t have suspected if I hadn’t said that?"

I was still worried. After all, this whole affair was my business, from start to finish.

Sebastian Forrest had already helped so much. If I let him be my scapegoat for this...

’Then I’d truly never be able to repay the favor.’

"But—"

I instinctively wanted to try and persuade him, but before I could finish, Sebastian Forrest cut off with a smile. "It’s fine. Just relax and enjoy the show."

...

The little episode passed quickly.

As a romantic, beautiful piano piece began to play through the hall, the engagent party officially began!

I couldn’t help but feel a thrill of excitent. The host began his introduction of the couple of the hour, gesturing to the enormous, high-definition LED screen behind him. I stared at that screen, and my palms began to sweat as I imagined the evidence of Clara Langley and Vincent Lombard’s affair appearing there at any mont.

"And now, let’s welco the happy couple to the stage!"

At the host’s announcent, I instinctively looked toward the entrance. Clara Langley was walking out slowly, arm in arm with Theodore Grant. As they made their way forward, flower petals drifted down around them like snow. The scene was both romantic and beautiful.

Clara Langley’s face was beaming with happiness, her entire being radiating a sweet bliss. But when her eyes t mine, she instinctively lifted her chin in a look of triumphant, flaunting pride.

Soon, after warming up the crowd, the host handed the microphone to Theodore Grant and Clara Langley, hoping their interaction would bring the engagent party to its high point.

"Thank you all for coming to my engagent party today..."

Clara Langley, having co from the entertainnt industry, spoke with poise and grace, naturally exuding a confident, charming aura.

Many well-known entertainnt reporters had also been invited to the event, and for a mont, the room was filled with the sound of flashing lights and clicking shutters as they frantically took pictures, trying to capture Clara Langley’s most charismatic monts.

"There is one person I especially want to thank." Halfway through her speech, Clara Langley suddenly changed the subject. "And that is Theodore Grant’s ex-wife, Miss Chelsea Joyce..."

The mont she said this, the lively banquet hall fell silent. Everyone looked at each other, wondering why Clara Langley would bring up Theodore Grant’s ex-wife at a ti like this.

Theodore Grant clearly realized what was happening and discreetly nudged Clara Langley with his elbow, signaling for her to stop talking.

But Clara Langley paid him no mind and continued on her own. "You’ve probably all heard the stories. Theodore and I were childhood sweethearts, each other’s unforgettable first love. We were torn apart by a cruel twist of fate..."

"I once thought we would never get to rekindle our love, but then I never expected that Theodore Grant’s ex-wife would do sothing to disgrace the Grant Family na..."

By the ti Clara Langley reached this point, the entire banquet hall was already buzzing with whispers. Clearly, many had heard about the sensational drama at the wedding a while back.

"Of course, I’m not saying all this to condemn her. After all, if she hadn’t been unworthy of Theodore Grant, he and I would never have been able to rekindle our love... I..."

But before Clara Langley could finish, Theodore Grant, his face grim, snatched the microphone from her hand and shot the host a look, signaling him to move on to the next segnt imdiately.

The host of an event like this was naturally skilled at thinking on his feet. He told a corny joke, and just like that, the awkward chill in the air dissipated.

"And now, it’s ti for the happy couple to toast their parents! Let’s have a round of applause to welco the groom’s parents to the stage..."

As enthusiastic applause erupted, I saw Vincent Lombard and my mother-in-law walk slowly onto the stage.

Theodore Grant had always seen Vincent Lombard as a father figure, so for this engagent party, he had Vincent Lombard take his own father’s place, which showed how deeply he trusted the man.

Vincent Lombard was all smiles, his mouth stretched in an uncontrollable grin that seed to reach from ear to ear, showing just how excited and thrilled he was.

My mother-in-law’s expression, by contrast, was far more composed. But since the Grant Family’s reputation was on the line, she still wore a smile, no matter how much she disliked Clara Langley. She wouldn’t embarrass her in front of all these outsiders. The scene was the very picture of dostic bliss.

I couldn’t help but let a small smile touch my lips. Seeing a waiter bring the drinks onto the stage, I subconsciously glanced over at Sebastian Forrest. I saw a brilliant light glittering in the depths of his eyes—

’It’s showti!’
