Blood gushed from Chen Yin’s chest.

The dagger was imbued with a fierce and domineering spiritual energy, which surged into his body, wreaking havoc.

Chen Yin could feel his life slipping away.

But his expression remained relatively calm. He stared at the tip of the dagger, then turned his head to look at the shadow. After a long silence, he finally managed to utter a single sentence:

“…Who the hell are you?”

“It doesn’t matter who I am. All you need to know is that you deserve to die.”

“But I don’t even know you!”

Chen Yin’s face contorted in frustration. He finally squeezed out another sentence, “Is the demonic sect’s main altar this ‘free’ these days?”

“The less you talk, the less you’ll suffer.”

The cold, alluring voice said arrogantly, “Just die peacefully.”

With that, she pulled out the dagger and turned to leave gracefully.

But after taking a couple of steps, she suddenly realized sothing and turned back.

She saw that Chen Yin was not only alive but also looking at her bloodstained clothes with a troubled and regretful expression, sighing softly.

“Hmm? You’re not dead?”

The shadow hesitated for a mont, then lunged again with lightning speed, her dagger aiming straight for Chen Yin’s lower dantian.

Thud. The sound of the blade piercing flesh was unmistakable. Blood gushed out once more.

They remained frozen in this position for a mont.

The shadow looked up, her eyes eting Chen Yin’s.

“…Why aren’t you dead yet?”

“…You’re asking ?”

The shadow’s beautiful eyes narrowed, and her grip on the dagger tightened. She pulled it out and plunged it back in.

Again and again.

As his clothes were reduced to shreds, Chen Yin finally sighed.

“Seriously, if you want to practice your butchering skills, can’t you find a butcher shop? Why use a living person as your target? What if you hurt the flowers and grass?”

“And can’t you at least stab with so artistry? Look at this bloody ss, it’s too grueso to even describe. Even mosaic censorship wouldn’t be enough.”

The shadow seed to have lost her patience. She withdrew the dagger, channeled her spiritual energy, and in the next mont, the dagger shot towards Chen Yin’s forehead like a roaring dragon.

But this ti, the dagger didn’t penetrate.

It was caught firmly between two fingers, unmoving.

“What the hell? Are you addicted to stabbing ?”

Chen Yin glared at her. “Enough is enough. Do you really think I have no temper?”

“This is impossible!”

The shadow exclaid in disbelief. “How are you still alive? Are you a Chosen One too?”

“Chosen One?” Chen Yin blinked. “What’s a Chosen One?”

They stared at each other in a stalemate.

“…System,” the shadow asked urgently in her mind.

“What’s going on? Isn’t he a Chosen One?”

“No.” The System replied, equally confused. “What’s happening? This person hasn’t appeared in the plot records. I’ve never encountered this situation before.”

“What should we do?”

“How about… we run?”

The shadow tried to pull out the dagger, but it remained firmly in Chen Yin’s grasp. She gritted her teeth, threw the dagger aside, and turned to flee.

But before she could take two steps, Chen Yin’s playful voice rang out behind her:

“Hey, hey, hey, where are you going? Hit and run, huh?”

As she took another step, a sharp pain shot through her ridians, making her gasp and collapse to the ground.

“What! What’s happening?” The shadow looked inward in panic, seeing her ridians sealed by an unknown sword energy. “System, unlock them, quickly!”

“I can’t!”

The System cursed. “Damn it, what’s with this guy? Why can’t I even interfere with my System powers?”

anwhile, Chen Yin sauntered over, his clothes shredded at the chest, but his wounds had already healed inexplicably.

“Stabbing soone without a word and then running away? Nice try.”

“And what’s with this thing covering your face? Let see, it’s fine.”

He reached out and ripped off the mask from her face.

Beneath it was a beautiful woman with cold, alluring features. Her eyes were filled with anger and a hint of murderous intent. Her entire face was as cold as frost, yet there was an air of arrogance and aloofness about her.

Her skin was pale, almost sickly, as if she had never been exposed to sunlight. Her body was slender and agile, with a graceful and elegant aura.

She was undoubtedly a rare beauty.

Chen Yin glanced at her briefly, then picked up the mask she had been wearing and examined it.

…It was a mask, similar to his own.

He was intrigued. He leaned closer and asked, “Where did you get this?”

The woman ignored him, her beautiful eyes narrowed in anger as she turned her head away.

“Not talking, huh?”

Chen Yin chuckled mischievously and rubbed his hands together. “Then don’t bla this ‘demonic cultivator’ for being ruthless.”

With that, he picked up the woman, glanced at the empty corridor, then found an unoccupied room and tossed her inside, tying her up securely.

As soon as he closed the door, Chen Yin started taking off his clothes with practiced ease.

His movents were so fluid and natural that the woman stared at him in shock, then shouted in a mixture of anger and fear:

“Wh-what are you doing! You pervert! Do you want to die?!”

“What am I doing?”

Chen Yin grinned mischievously and approached her. “Of course, I’m—”

“—changing my clothes.”

The woman was taken aback.

“But you’re the one who ruined my clothes!”

Chen Yin held up his shredded robe and said with a frustrated sigh, “I didn’t bring many clothes with . I finally found one I liked, and you destroyed it.”

“If I didn’t have more important things to do, I’d tear your clothes to shreds too.”

The woman glared at him furiously, as if she wanted to devour him alive.

After grabbing a random demonic cultivator’s robe, Chen Yin changed back into his usual attire and said softly, “Just wait here. I’ll be back soon, understand?”

“Don’t make too much noise and alert the other demonic cultivators. They might not be as gentle as .”

Ignoring the intense emotions in the woman’s eyes, Chen Yin tied her up tightly, stuffed her into a large empty storage chest, and closed the lid.

After making sure no one was around, he whispered to Luo Luo to keep an eye on the room and then hurried back to the kitchen to prepare tea.

In the Holy Maiden’s room, Yu Xiang sat at the table, her brow furrowed in displeasure.

“…It seems I can’t avoid this Nether Ritual.”

“This disgusting ceremony, and I have to attend and show my face. I don’t understand what the Dao Master is thinking.”

“My dear host, please don’t cause any more trouble.”

The System pleaded in her ear. “It’s just a ceremony. If you don’t want to watch, you can always take a nap there.”

“Please don’t antagonize the demonic path any further. I really can’t handle it anymore.”

Yu Xiang ignored it and simply snorted, muttering to herself:

“Where’s my tea? Why hasn’t that Zhao Han brought it yet?”

At that mont, a soft knock ca from the door.

“Enter.”

The door opened, and Chen Yin entered, bowing respectfully. He held a teapot in his hand and said in a low voice:

“Holy Maiden, your tea is here.”

Chen Yin was afraid of revealing his true identity, so he only dared to steal glances at Yu Xiang using his peripheral vision.

Xiang’er was still wearing her simple green dress, but her usual gentleness and vulnerability were gone, replaced by a faint aura of hostility, as if she was keeping everyone at arm’s length.

But for now, she seed to be in good spirits, indicating that she was doing well within the demonic path.

Yu Xiang took the tea and said with a hint of displeasure, “Why is the tea so late?”

“It’s my fault, Holy Maiden. I didn’t control the heat properly, and the first pot burned. That’s why it took a little longer.”

Chen Yin tried his best to disguise his voice.

After Yu Xiang finished a cup of tea with small sips, Chen Yin finally heard:

“This tea is acceptable. Bring another pot.”

“Yes.”

Chen Yin bowed his head respectfully and turned to leave. But before he could take two steps, a chilling voice stopped him in his tracks:

“Wait.”

Chen Yin stopped and turned around, his expression unchanged. “Do you have any further instructions, Holy Maiden?”

“Who are you? I’ve never seen you at the main altar before.”

Yu Xiang frowned. “And where’s Zhao Han? Where did he go?”

“This lowly one was previously from the Fragrance City branch. I ca to the main altar with our altar master to witness the Nether Ritual and have been helping Brother Zhao Han with so chores.”

Chen Yin’s answer was flawless, his tone and deanor perfectly mimicking Zhao Han’s.

Yu Xiang narrowed her eyes slightly, then nodded slowly. “Fragrance City…”

“What was it like before you ca here?”

“Fragrance City has been under lockdown for a long ti. I ca to the main altar to lay low. What would you like to know, Holy Maiden?”

“I’m asking if you’ve seen… hmm…”

Yu Xiang hesitated for a mont, then shook her head. “Never mind, it’s nothing.”

“You may leave.”

“Yes.” Chen Yin nodded and respectfully retreated from the room.

After he left, Yu Xiang sighed softly.

“I wonder if Senior Brother is still in Fragrance City? Or has he already returned to the mountain?”

“Maybe he’s having fun with another girl?” The System chid in, trying to stir up trouble.

It expected Yu Xiang to scold it back as usual, but she just lowered her head silently.

Her eyes were filled with sadness.

…Senior Brother.

Even if there’s another girl by your side, it’s okay.

As long as you’re happy.

If you can occasionally rember that you still have a Junior Sister nad Xiang’er…

Then Xiang’er will be content.
