Revolutions overturn the hierarchical pyramid. The greatest loss, of course, was suffered by the humans who had ruled at the top. When the pyramid is flipped upside down, just like the tip of a soft pyramid getting worn down, humans now found themselves in a position where they had to carefully navigate the pressure coming from all sides to maintain their daily lives.

But amid that great downfall, there were so who, unnoticed, groaned quietly from their own tier.

It was the human's friends, the dog beastn who had inherited the traits of dogs.

"Hey, Orc! Why do we have to be watched?"

"Returning weapons and insignia and waiting at ho? They’re basically telling us to leave!"

The dog beastn guards voiced their complaints to Orcma's rcenaries.

Most of the guards in Obeli were dogs. While it was true that dog beastn had excellent scent detection and hunting instincts, that wasn’t the only reason. The most important reason was that dog beastn were friendly with humans. They were the first beastn created by Mu-hu. They were loyal to humans, displayed affection, and—most importantly—didn’t hide that fact. Affectionate and playful, dog beastn served humans as slaves, butlers, friends, and companions.

That’s why the majority of Obeli’s guards were dog beastn. Dogs don’t betray humans.

However, this logic had now turned into the exact opposite under Orcma’s rise.

"You’ve been colluding with humans and enjoying power, haven’t you? Of course, we have to suspect you. Don’t worry, as long as you don’t do anything foolish, it’ll be fine."

"Does that an we have to lose our jobs and be watched just like that? This is tyranny! Didn’t you say all beastn are equal?"

"Yes. All beastn are equal."

Gluta, the head of Orcma’s logistics and personnel, who had now taken control of Obeli’s personnel rights, spoke to the disgruntled dog beastn.

"That’s why we have to bring down those who’ve been benefiting unequally. Your authority was gained by attaching yourselves to humans, not by your own abilities."

"What did you say?"

"Where do you get off saying sothing like that!"

"We rose through our abilities!"

Strong opposition arose, but Gluta responded with a sneer.

"Then let ask. What do you do better than us Orcs?"

"Well, that is..."

"What? Is it a ridiculous sense of sll? Orcs aren’t much different. Actually, our Orcs have much better noses. A sharper set of teeth? Pfft. You’re both using weapons and energy techniques, so why the fuss about teeth? Hunting instincts? Do you really need instincts to chase enemies?"

Gluta snorted like an Orc, a sound that, in the past, would have been a mockery, but now, it was a sign of confidence. The dog beastn, looking down at the pig beastn with pride, had no counterargunt.

"Your only difference from the other beastn is that you’re friendly with humans. And in a city now ruled by beastn, that’s no advantage at all."

"...Still, we’ve served as guards for years! You can’t just throw us out like this!"

"To put it another way, the only reason you’re in that position is because you’ve been working as guards for years. You’re still using your position as a guard to communicate with humans."

The dog beastn reacted as though they’d been pricked by a sharp object at Gluta’s accusation. One of them, with his tail between his legs, protested.

"What? Are you suspecting us? With no evidence?"

"Evidence? Hmph. When have we ever been thrown out with proof? When there’s a foul sll, we look to Orcs first. And when the accounts are low, the investigators are the first to show up at the pig beastn’s quarters with a frown. You’ll have to keep proving yourselves, just as we have."

The Orcs, who were surrounding the guards and laughing, joined in with Gluta. The dog beastn grumbled lowly as they bared their teeth.

After the revolution succeeded, most of Orcma had occupied Obeli, and using their numbers as a weapon, they were causing chaos in all directions. The city of Obeli, simply by existing, had the power to influence all of Ende. The Orcs, who now held the majority of the city, controlled even the dog beastn.

With his newfound power, Gluta declared to the guards:

"Bring Duke Erectus here. The only way you can prove your loyalty and ability as guards is by doing that."

"How can we find a public official in this vast Ende...! The ones we call public officials are all bloodlines of the noble houses! Yes, you’ve taken Obeli, but you haven’t taken all of Ende. The people of this city, though their sense of belonging might be weak, are still subjects of the vassal states! We won’t report any public officials!"

Ende was {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} a vast vassal state, bordering the wild lands, guaranteeing autonomy. However, this also ant that it was a city that could be abandoned at any ti. If the main country decided to exert control, this small spark would be crushed in an instant. Gluta knew this fact well. In truth, the reason Orcma wanted to capture Duke Erectus wasn’t so much for revenge but to prevent interference from the vassal state. Gluta quickly spoke up.

"You know the attendant who took Duke Erectus, right? That dog beastman. You’re of the sa kind, so you deal with it."

"Welsh? Impossible! Before she’s one of our kind, she’s the Duke’s hunting dog. She’s from a family of hunting dogs!"

"A hunting dog family..."

Gluta groaned at the word he hadn’t heard in a long ti.

This translation is the intellectual property of Novelight.

Dogs care about their bloodlines. Dogs with prestigious bloodlines are almost treated like minor nobles, given to powerholders across generations and loved dearly. As hunting dogs, companions, or noble bloodline guardians, these dogs remained by the side of noble families.

However, beastn were all treated as beasts before they were ever considered beastn. Dog beastn were no exception. Powerholders filtered through dog beastn, selecting only the best to form their clans. The dog beastn, naturally loyal to humans, were subjected to almost brainwashing-level training to beco butlers, maids, and bodyguards.

The hunting dog clan that protected a single family truly existed, and even after the appearance of the furry saintess, its lineage continued. Unlike Orcs, this was the most moderate evil custom that had managed to survive for so long.

"Welsh won’t respond to us! No, she’ll even bite us if we try!"

For the first ti in a while, Gluta felt an overwhelming pressure. The beastn created by humans, the system that used them, and the invisible currents—how was an Orc supposed to handle all of this? Gluta’s limited perspective couldn’t begin to fathom it.

But, within that current, the fact that this revolution even happened was a miracle. Gluta steeled his resolve to protect this tiny spark even more firmly.

"Heh. You seem to be under a misunderstanding. We didn’t call you here to hear your excuses. If you can’t break free of humans, then you’re nothing but that!"

"Before you boast about how strong your chains are, why don’t you think about throwing them off? Just like us Orcs!"

"Well said! Yes, we Orcs did it... Wait, who?"

I also helped out beside Gluta. Gluta, who was about to shout with enthusiasm, leaned back, as if about to fall over, upon spotting . His face turned pale with fear.

"M-Masurat!"

"Huh? What?"

"No, magician. Y-You’re here...?"

This reaction was starting to get a little sad. I’d thought things through for a while and was trying to be considerate so I could help if needed, but why was he so scared?

"What’s going on? Is it because I captured you and locked you in Obeli? You know by now, to seize Obeli, we had to infiltrate from the inside, right?"

"Ugh, ugh. I know. I know, but..."

"I'm not a tiger, so I feel a little hurt when you tremble every ti you see . Sigh, I was the one who truly helped Orcma, but it seems like you don't consider an ally."

Even though he was still terrified of , as they say, “the surroundings make the person.” The other Orcs were watching him with eyes full of expectation. Their gazes turned into silent pressure, pushing Gluta forward. With public sentint behind him, Gluta gathered his courage and spoke.

"Of course, you’re not an Orc! You’re a human! How could I trust a human who just rolled in from who knows where?"

Wait. Didn’t you say we’re all equal? You should treat equally too. You said I should prove my ability, right? What more do I need to prove?

Let’s be honest here. You’re just making excuses because you don’t like , just like how you treat the dog beastn.

Sigh. I’ve already done so much for you, and you still want more?

"Do I really need to prove myself again after the results I’ve achieved? Fine. I’ll find Duke Erectus for you."

"What? Duke Erectus? Is that even possible?"

"Of course. Finding one person is easier than toppling a secret organization with thousands of people."

In terms of difficulty, it might actually be a bit harder. With a larger scale, it’s easier to spot, but finding a single person would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.

But I don’t take bets I can’t win. There’s always a reason I step forward with confidence in solving a problem.

‘Oh, no. There’s no way. How could I find Duke Erectus, hiding sowhere inside?’

‘Magician? What’s that? More impressive than a public official?’

I read the thoughts of the Obeli guards, who were silently observing.

There’s a reason the tongue is sharp.
