Chapter 767: A Precious Feeling (Ch.768)

A crippling sense of disappointnt was not the best feeling to wake up to. It was especially heavy until the residues of sleep faded and Neveah beca aware of her surroundings.

The weight of Xenon’s arm around her waist kept her rooted in this mont, preventing a spiral, moreso than he would ever realize. And understanding the intricacy of their bond, Neveah knew she did much the sa for him.

Xenon was already awake, for how long he had been, she was not certain. His hand stroked her hair in comforting gestures like he had been before she drifted off, and his breaths were slow and lulling.

She was practically laying on him too, down to her midriff and Neveah could not help a sheepish smile.

"Did you get any sleep?" Neveah asked, shifting so she could stare up at Xenon who watched her. His gaze exuded a tenderness so potent, she was humbled to be on the receiving end.

"Watching you sleep is more restful than sleeping can ever be." Xenon replied with a casual shrug. "And dragons have had enough slumber months or even years in our lifeti, we do not necessarily need sleep for sustenance."

Neveah did know that, but she also knew dragons were not immortal and even they had their limit and breaking point. A few nights without sleep was fine, perhaps a few weeks, but if it beca a habit, then it would be concerning.

"You conned

into sleeping... again." Neveah accused halfheartedly.

Xenon’s lips tilted slightly, "Hm."

There were no attempts to deny the accusation. He simply admitted to it, his gaze daring her to do sothing about it.

"You always get

to be at my best... even at your own expense." She murmured. Her brows furrowed slightly, like she had more thoughts than she could ever voice out.

"You’re mine." Xenon replied in a voice barely above a whisper. "I live for that exact reason...to love on you."

It was a simple statent, Xenon had never been a man of many words. He was not a man of words at all, more a man of growls and glares.

Yet for every word he offered, every gesture...her world was better for it. And her heart was reminded, that it was too late to shatter. Not when he held so closely to it.

In that one statent, he quantified his very existence and attributed it to her.

The strands of guilt that had begun to form dispersed just as quickly and it amazed her, watching her own eyes light up in the reflection of those onyx orbs.

How deeply she felt for this man, she could see it in her own eyes. And this feeling was no longer strange, or unfamiliar or heavy on her heart. It was the truest, most familiar and most beautiful thing she had ever been given.

"Xenon...when this is all over, we should go to your cave on Mount Edar..." Neveah murmured. "I’ll read to you..."

Xenon smirked at that. "Another history volu?"

She shook her head slightly, a small smile tugging at her lips. "I’ll read to you my heart... Every beat, signed in your na."

"I live to love on you." She whispered in helpless and hopeless acceptance. Leaning up, her lips brushed lightly against Xenon’s.

And then she kissed him, slowly, tenderly... with all the passion and adoration her heart held for him. For this man who had been by her even before she knew the existence of his species, and who still loved her like it was his first day loving.

When Neveah pulled away, she was breathless. Cheeks rosy and gaze hooded.

Xenon grinned, his tongue darted out to graze his bottom lip, "I’ll go anywhere with you, love. Keep Skies, The Dunes... Scales, Shadow Tower even."

Neveah laughed quietly, her laugh soon converting to a stunned gasp when Xenon completed his statent.

"And make no mistakes, I’ll make love to you in each of those places. When the sun rises and when it sets... and even when it forgets to do either."

Neveah shuddered, visibly. The desire to be fully joined with him in the most intimate ways possible burned fiercely in her with each passing mont and she was not certain for how much longer she could hold on.

"Why deny yourself then?" Neveah asked quietly. "Why won’t you make love to

here, now?"

Xenon looked visibly pained. His struggle surfaced in his gaze and he groaned lowly. Leaning forward, his forehead t Neveah’s, and his eyes went closed. He inhaled slowly.

"Everything about you stirs

in ways I didn’t think possible, Neveah Vairheac. I would be all over you at every chance I get, if I had my way...hell, I watched you take down an entire army without moving an inch and all I could think about was how desperately I needed that body beneath mine."

"Scales! Do you not see yourself, woman? You are the most stunning creature I have set my eyes on... and I’ve been around for a long while..." He said in a single breath.

"I am just a man, love. If I have a taste of you... I’ll lose every ounce of control. And you’ll lose a whole lot more sleep than a war could hope to achieve..." He grunted,

Neveah laughed quietly.

"But I am a lacking man. Sorely. I have denied you two rgings... pieces of myself I can no longer recover and am incapable of offering you, as you rightly deserve."

"What I can do, is give you all I have...not in a rush when we could be under attack at any mont, or in a eting hall with your father and uncles sowhere on the other end...as much as I enjoyed every mont of that," Xenon murmured, he repeated the motion from before, his tongue darting out to graze his bottom lip and Neveah swore the warmth in her lower belly might as well have been liquid fire.

"It will be with every honour you deserve. As My Lady... and My Queen." Xenon vowed,

To the dragons, the third and final rging was sacred. Neveah would not have minded if Xenon made good on his thoughts and claid her right on the Southern watchtower, with all the destruction and devastation of a battle around them.

And she wished he could understand that she did not lant what he could no longer give her.

But she understood what it ant to him...it would be his second ti, offering all of him to a woman he loved. It was all that more significant.

And to Neveah, his love was all that more precious. "You waited so many years to take

away from the Eclipse Palace. And even when I left for the Dunes, and all the events leading up to that...you waited. This ti... I’ll be the one to wait for you, Xenon. As long as you need..."
