Chapter 735: Unwanted Company 2 (Ch.736)

The remaining three r Cardinals united to battle Xenon, putting all their magic together to create furious water whirls that suppressed Xenon’s flas. The storm at this point had beco deafening, the winds so strong, the roof of the inn had been blown off so ti ago and half the inn had been set on fire by lightning bolts, and later doused by the raging storm.

There was not much left in the inn standing but the walls and the battle had only been a few minutes. The r Cardinals had an advantage due to the storm, making an abundant water supply for their water based magic manipulation, they had carefully calculated this attack and like Xenon had said, they were not easy opponents.

Dante was not having better luck, as the storm grew stronger, a layer of water had ford over the wooden floor of the inn, making it unavoidable for them all to be standing right in water. The r Cardinal Dante battled had used this to his advantage, icing up the water to restrain Dante.

Though he was unsuccessful as Dante’s flas vanquished the ice gathering around his boot, the water had beco chilling cold, almost freezing and even the rest of the group uninvolved in the battle were also affected by it.

Neveah watched the scene with narrowed eyes, unfazed by the chills that seeped in through her leather boots. Estelle also withstood it with ease, but Ida was not so lucky. She clung to Verothrax, shivering from head to toe.

They were all drenched by the storm due to the open roof and their clothing was now useless against the chill, instead adding to it and the storm raged on, almost as fiercely as that the storm singers had summoned.

Neveah knew Xenon had not gone all out yet, giving the r Cardinals the ti to figure out that they were greatly outmatched even in human form, but he was getting agitated now and his patience was slowly running out.

Xenon’s moves had beco more lethal, and he steadily advanced on the three rs, his flas raged faster than the storm could hope to douse and skillfully tore a path through the water whirl. This ant, in no ti, a life would definitely be lost if the r Cardinals did not cease their attacks and kept pushing.

"I think you have to interfere." Estelle who also studied the scene said to Neveah. "If these rs rank as high as Lord Xenon says, we can’t just kill them off without knowing the reason they attacked us...we would be starting another war."

"They attacked us first. They deserve whatever they get and Xenon said to stay put." Verothrax interrupted, opposing Estelle.

"You just want them all dead because they knocked you down!" Estelle hissed lowly. "Not everything has to be death and destruction. We can suppress them and reason this out, they’re not silly enough to attack us for no reason!"

Neveah mulled over it slightly, she glanced up at the sky, squinting slightly as the rain pelted down on her face. There was a scent in the air, it was sparse and barely noticeable but it was there and Neveah’s nose twitched slightly.

"Sea salt..." Neveah murmured, "There’s sea salt in the storm. This..." Neveah trailed off, pondering over it for a mont before realization dawned.

"Stop!!!" Neveah roared, Devirld rose to the surface as Neveah’s emotions stirred and Neveah hurled a blast of golden energy mass that slamd into the midst of the battle and tossed everyone aside, dispersing the water whirl and the icicles.

The force of Neveah’s magic sent Xenon skidding back a asure but he righted himself, anwhile the r Cardinals and Dante were tossed through the air in different directions, Xenon moved swiftly, stopping Dante’s crash with a hand on his shoulder.

Xenon and Dante both turned to Neveah in question and it was then Neveah noticed the black pools that Xenon’s eyes had beco, the whites of his eyes completely banished.

"Xenon!" Neveah exclaid in alarm, rushing over to him. She took his hand warily. "Your eyes... the wild haze... since when did it return?" Neveah asked slowly.

Only then did Xenon realize and he quickly turned his head away, his eyes went closed and when he looked at Neveah’s way again, his eyes had returned back to normal.

"I’m fine." Xenon reassured. Before anything else could be said, one of the r Cardinals dragged himself up to his feet slowly, his eyes narrowed in rage as he stared at his fellow Cardinals who were yet to recover from Neveah’s attack.

"They were right...it is you after all... the new Dragon Queen." The r Cardinal said through gritted teeth, "You attack the unsuspecting, having no integrity! Even now you shalessly attack from behind!" He roared.

Xenon growled right back, storming forwards. "Watch your tone fish boy! Raise your voice here again and I’ll rip out your gills!" Xenon warned in a low snarl.

The r Cardinal hissed darkly at that. "I know I am no match for you, Black Fiend. But as long as I can keep you from taking dragon form, I can hold you here for long enough."

"We should test that theory..." Xenon took a step forward but Neveah held him back. Neveah’s brows furrowed in suspicion.

"You knew I was here and yet you ca. You knew Xenon was here...which ans you ca knowing you stand no chance...is this a suicide mission? For what purpose? To keep us distracted here?..." Neveah asked, slowly walking forward.

Xenon kept close to Neveah as she advanced on the r Cardinal and at this point, another r Cardinal had gotten up to his feet but Xenon moved in a flash and in the blink of an eye, his claws held the r Cardinal by his throat.

"Now... don’t you even think about it." He warned, staring at the hands of the r Cardinal which had begun summoning his magic again. "When Veah speaks... you don’t interrupt."

The r Cardinal Neveah had been speaking to glanced worriedly at his companion in Xenon’s grip before hissing defiantly. "I have nothing to say to you! If you want to leave this place, you will have to kill all four of us first!"
