Chapter 701: Queen of What? (Ch.702)
The ssage conveyed through the whisper orb was cryptic. A bargain had been offered, an exchange was to be made, but where was this exchange to happen?
Neveah had noted the ssage did not pinpoint a location. At least not one obvious to them and while everyone else pondered on that, Neveah was more concerned with the dark fairy.
Her gaze had been fixed on Neveah all the while and it was beginning to grate on Neveah’s nerves.
It was one thing that the dark fairy would go unpunished after the attempt on Neveah’s life, and it was another thing that they dared lay a hand on Imagor’s child, but there was sothing in the dark fairy’s gaze that unsettled Neveah.
A look that Neveah could only describe as gloating. She had tried to harm Neveah and gotten captured instead, despite the current turn of events, Neveah did not see a reason why the dark fairy was so assured in herself.
"Veah..." narx called cautiously, picking up on Neveah’s intention even before she made a move.
Ignoring narx, Neveah walked over to Celeste, crouching down so she was on level with Celeste.
"You keep staring...it would be inconsiderate of
to ignore you. You clearly have sothing to say to , so by all ans, do say it." Neveah stated directly.
Celeste smirked slightly, and then leaned closer to Neveah, unfazed by the warning growls from narx and Imagor who drew closer but did not interfere.
"Are you getting comfortable already?...Playing Queen? It will not be for too long, you see...He will not live long enough to return..." She said in a low, assured tone, like she was as certain of her words as she was that the sun would rise and then go down at its ti.
Neveah’s fists clenched tightly by her sides, it was not hard to tell exactly who this ’He’ was, but she did not say a word and gave Celeste the audience to complete her statent.
"Your beloved Dragon King, I an...he will never return to you. I am telling you, he is not coming back...so what are you exactly? The Queen...of what?" Celeste explained further, an unmistakable giddy undertone accompanying her words.
"I see...you would have
believe that it was all you? Singlehandedly?" Neveah asked with a raised brow.
Celeste smirked, leaning back against the pillar with such smugness, like she had just won herself a kingdom.
"I do not know...you do not strike
as such a resourceful person. You are not the mastermind, Celeste." Neveah replied after a mont of silence.
Celeste’s smirk dropped at Neveah’s words but she was quick to regain her composure.
"Yet you are currently in a bind, once again." Celeste reminded.
"When I had you captured, I saw in your eyes the terror and fear for your life...you were uncertain if you would be saved or cast aside. Even at this mont, you are putting on an act as though you are in control of the situation, but your fate is being determined by another..."
"If you had planned this out to free yourself, you would know where the exchange is to hold. You are also anxious, because if we cannot interpret the ssage and find the location, you will not live."
"I have heard I am a good judge of people and all I see when I look at you is a pawn on the chessboard...and this is not your first ti being that...a pawn to be used and discarded at will. I have known since we first t at the Fodder Grooves, you are nothing but another pitiful soul...you have never been and still are not the mastermind." Neveah said, tilting her head slightly.
"And so, I can afford to let you go. Your life is worth nothing to
compared to Zephyroth. And if you were stupid enough to waltz into Dragon Keep and get yourself captured when your identity was conveniently unexposed... I do not suppose it would be that difficult to capture you again, people do not randomly grow brains... and I now know what to look for." Neveah continued, her tone calm.
Celeste’s nose flared at Neveah’s words and her eyes glared darkly.
"What do you think you know? You know nothing!" Celeste hissed.
"Celeste...of obsidian wings. Dearest sister of the deceased High Queen of the Fae and the first to be discarded. I have read of you... I know enough." Neveah whispered in a tone only Celeste would pick up on and then got up to her feet.
"Yet you fail to know the fate of your beloved Dragon King." Celeste said just as Neveah retreated.
Neveah paused in her step, she turned back around and in a swift motion, her claws sunk straight into Celeste’s chest, right where her heart was.
"Neveah!" narx exclaid in concern.
Celeste stared up at Neveah, wide eyed and gasping for breath as a trail of blood gurgled in her throat.
"Do you feel it? Any further and my claws will pierce your heart." Neveah said to Celeste.
"Keep Jian out of your mouth...they said to bring you alive, they did not say you had to be in one piece." Neveah reminded in a dark tone.
"So... take your win in silence, Celeste. And know there is a tir on your life. I will reclaim it in only a short ti...there is no loss to you either, you have lived long enough." Neveah said and then she withdrew her claws, ignoring Celeste’s cry of pain.
"I avoided any vital points... Her life is not in danger." Neveah said before any of the King’s guards could speak.
Neveah sucked in a deep breath to calm her rage before she glanced up at the King’s guard again.
"Her taunting has been useful in one way. I figured it out... where the exchange is to hold. The ssage was ant to be deciphered by , it is a place only I would think of and you were correct, they could not have taken Zephyroth far..."
’Co alone, wolf princess’...
"It hints at the place only I could go when I was just the foreign wolf princess. It is also the only place the patrol could have missed during the shift change because it is so close to Dragon Keep, it is equally unaffected by the portal ban... so it all makes sense, we have been looking too far...Zephyroth was not captured, he was lured... to Mount Edar... Xenon’s mountain." Neveah revealed.
