Chapter 634: Not

(Ch.635)

When Neveah’s consciousness returned and her eyes slowly ca open again, she found herself in a rather unusual position.

There were about a dozen people staring at her in amazent and Neveah imdiately observed her own condition to be certain of what exactly they were staring at.

Neveah glanced down to see she was hovering, right above the stream and the stream was still alight with flas covering its surface.

Flas that burned brightly even on water, which could not have been a common occurrence.

Neveah’s entire form emitted that dim golden glow and there were small flas dancing along her finger tips.

What was worse, Neveah was not alone. Standing on the banks of the stream was the group Neveah had co out with, and not them alone but narx , Lord Mycroft, and a few other Scabbard dragons.

When they had arrived, Neveah did not know, however Neveah guessed Everon had called for help in the heat of the attack.

They all stared at Neveah with wide eyes and Neveah herself was not sure what had just happened.

It was then Neveah’s mind drew her back to the reality that her hands were on fire.

"Scales! That’s hot!" Neveah exclaid.

Neveah swiftly shook her hands to get rid of the flas and just like that, the golden glow dispersed along with the flas and Neveah went tumbling down right back into the stream, creating a large splash.

Neveah spluttered and gasped for breath, quickly making her way to the shores in a very disoriented fashion.

Neveah collapsed by the edge of the stream, breathing heavily.

"Is it dead?" Neveah asked uncertainly, her gaze moving to Dante whose robes were completely drenched in water.

Dante nodded slowly, seeming unable to form words to provide an audible answer.

However, Lord Mycroft did not seem as tongue-tied as his son was.

"You set it on fire... and it burned even underwater..." Lord Mycroft announced slowly.

"I...it wasn’t ..." Neveah defended herself imdiately, but her words trailed off when she realised she could not quite justify that claim.

Neveah slumped back down to the ground in exhaustion, still struggling to steady her breaths.

It took Neveah a mont before she got up to her feet and stared pointedly at the group still staring at her like she had just dropped down from another realm.

"I know it might be difficult for you to believe, but it wasn’t ... and I do not know how to explain it to you, so if you wish to call a council of the Great Lords or drag

to Dragon Keep to be tried, do whatever pleases you."

"This ti, it really was not ." Neveah said, her words directed at Lord Mycroft.

Lord Mycroft exchanged a look with narx before his gaze returned to Neveah.

Neveah braced herself for the lecture and harsh decision that was to co, and when it did not co and everyone still remained silent, Neveah frowned slightly.

"Does anyone have anything to say to ?... Anyone?" Neveah asked impatiently.

"Veah, we know it was not you. We saw it clearly, that was Jian’s flas...you just wielded Jian’s flas..." narx said slowly.

Neveah raised a brow, slightly surprised that all the dragons had recognised it for what it was.

"It indeed was the flas of Our Liege, burning through all facets of nature unhindered. It is unmistakable, I have seen those flas enough tis to recognize them anywhere." Lord Mycroft agreed in awe.

"But... how is this even possible? His Grace is nowhere known to us...we can only speculate as to his whereabouts and I have never heard of a rging of scale providing such ability."

"Or of a rider wielding the ability of her dragon other than being impervious to it. How can Veah summon Jian’s flas?!" Everon asked aloud to no one in particular.

Neveah blinked, she had not truly given it much thought but now that she did, she realized she had also never heard of such a thing happening.

"Veah... have you been in contact with Jian by so thod? You said repeatedly that it was not you, it can only an there was sothing else we could not see at play a mont ago." narx was the first to figure Neveah’s guilty expression out.

Neveah glanced around the clearing to be certain they were alone.

"No worries, the attack has been neutralized. The kobolds that attacked out of nowhere were all killed and my Scabbard dragons hunt down the sorcerer behind this attack as we speak." Lord Mycroft assured Neveah.

"Alleviate your concerns, there is no one but us. You may speak without reserves." narx encouraged.

Neveah passed a look to Adrienne, hesitant.

"I understand if you do not trust ..." Adrienne began to speak but Neveah cut her off.

"No, no...it is fine. It is not you who needs to be trusted." Neveah muttered.

"Well, he showed up in my mind just a mont ago because I was in danger, according to Jian, I called for him unconsciously and he ca to my dreams...we have sort of, been in contact recently..." Neveah revealed hesitantly.

"You have been speaking to Jian?!" Everon exclaid in a low whisper.

"Not for that long, the truth is, I have been as helpless and clueless as everyone else, up until I lost consciousness in Lord Mycroft’s hall and Jian appeared in my dreams..." Neveah began aningfully.

"My father was in possession of a magical artifact that makes it possible for us to communicate through our dreams at our unconscious monts...we spoke for the first ti earlier today when I lost consciousness due to Devirld."

"And when I was losing consciousness just now, he appeared in my mind...he saved , and defeated the beast by burning it. I did not realize his flas were being channeled by , until now and I cannot explain how it has happened, perhaps he would know better..."

"The only assurance I can provide at this mont is that, Our Liege is well... and at this mont, he is doing all that is possible to return the stronghold." Neveah said with a small smile.
