Chapter 631: Subrged (Ch.632)

"This is not it... the water is also contaminated, but this is not the source." Neveah said with a shake of her head.

"If a dark magic spell of such magnitude was cast here, the contamination would be far more intense...not just residues like this, but there would be a noticeable difference, noticeable enough that we might all sense it..." Neveah murmured quietly

Neveah stepped back, shaking off the water on her hand, she stared up at the waterfall.

"Where does the waterfall originate from?" Neveah asked.

"Underground springs." Dante replied.

"And is there a central eting point of all the underground springs across Scabbard?" Neveah asked Dante.

Dante’s eyes widened slightly and he nodded his head.

"It’s not here, co with ." Dante said and headed off through the forest.

They walked for a short ti before they arrived.

"This is it." Dante said, gesturing to a rapidly flowing stream running across the forest.

"All the underground springs pass through this point in one way or the other, even the springs supplying the other water sources." Dante explained further.

"Do you think this is it? Where the spell was cast?" Everon asked Neveah.

Much like the previous location, there was no noticeable aura of dark magic in the atmosphere but Neveah did not let that deter her.

She crouched down and peered into the stream. Unsurprisingly, the black matter was present everywhere she looked, showing up for only a brief mont before it disappeared.

But much like the previous location, Neveah did not pick up on any indications that there was sothing more sinister.

"It does not seem to be...but if not here, then where else?" Neveah murmured to herself as she got back up to her feet.

Neveah was about to step away but a tugging sensation within her prevented her from moving.

"Sothing is off about this place..." Neveah said, trailing off.

’And you would not know if I did not stop you.’ Devirld’s voice echoed in Neveah’s mind.

’Oh, be quiet!’ Neveah thought back to Devirld, her wolf echoing her words with a low growl in their mind.

Neveah crouched down again, peering into the stream. She shook her head and turned to Everon.

"Fae blood...do you have any of it left?" Neveah asked.

"Trust

to always be prepared for ergencies." Everon replied,

He pulled out a tiny vial, showing he had saved so of Adrienne’s blood and stored it away.

Weird as that was, Everon was a healer and the blood of a pure blooded Fae was a potent ingredient for many dicinal tonics, but difficult to procure since it was only right to acquire it from a willing source.

Beyond that, Everon was one of the most curious dragon lords she had t. After witnessing how Fae blood reacted with the contaminated water, Everon was surely interested in running more tests.

When Everon had walked over to Adrienne while Neveah spoke to Lord Mycroft, Neveah had just known Everon would store so of Adrienne’s blood away.

"I am pretty certain you had other intentions for this." Neveah murmured as she reached for the vial.

"A few droplets, we have just that amount. Are you certain you want to use it here? If the spell was cast here, it would unveil it, but if not, it would be a waste and we do not have any more of it." Everon reminded.

"Thankfully, we still have a living, breathing pure blooded Fae sowhere up in the skies around here... I might just have to brave that scream." Neveah replied absentmindedly as she took the vial.

Neveah popped open the lid, she hesitated for a mont before she turned it over, emptying the contents into the stream.

The red liquid slowly dripped down into the water, one droplet at a ti until there was nothing left in the vial.

Neveah watched for a reaction or any kind of changes and just when she began to believe she had made a wrong call, a sizzling sound began within the water, much like it had reacted when Everon tested it.

However, this ti, the sizzling sound did not quickly die out but instead grew louder as the black matter in the water swiftly rged together, the clear stream growing darker and darker as ti passed on.

That dark, ominous aura that had been missing now hung heavily in the atmosphere, leaving everyone close by in a state of alert.

The stench of dark magic blended into the air, heavy and potent, the entire atmosphere taking on an eerie undertone.

"This is it...it has to be..." Neveah murmured.

"What a strong spell!" Everon exclaid as the atmosphere grew even more ominous and charged with dark magic.

"Dante, you have the mage rune stones on you, do you not? They are the only artifacts that can reverse a spell of dark sorcery, thankfully, each fortress holds a fair amount of it." Everon said to Dante.

anwhile, Neveah’s gaze watched the dark matter continuously gather and bound together within the darkened water, forming a massive black mass,

And it took Neveah only a mont to realize there was sothing much more sinister than a spell of dark sorcery at work here.

"I do not think this is a spell, Everon..." Neveah said uncertainly.

"What do you an it is not a spell?!" Everon asked in confusion.

Neveah knew she was the only one that could see the gathering black mass in the water, the dark matter kept bounding together, and the more it did, the more a form beca apparent.

"It is not a spell! There is sothing in the water! Get back!" Neveah exclaid, jumping to her feet.

However, before Neveah could move away, a black clawed hand clamps onto her ankle in a vice-like grip and pulled her down.

Neveah fell, the vial crashed to the ground and shattered to many pieces just as she was pulled across the earth, down into the murky depths of the stream.

"Veah!!!" Estelle’s horrified scream was the last thing Neveah heard before she was completely subrged.
