Chapter 523: Say Yes (Ch.524)
Neveah was at a loss for words, she was not certain she had heard King Jian correctly and so she could only stare at him in stunned silence,
Waiting for him to say sothing, anything that would confirm that she had indeed heard wrong and what she had understood was not at all what King Jian ant.
But the look in his eyes told Neveah there was nothing wrong with her hearing, she did hear his words right and from his gaze, Neveah knew King Jian ant every word he had said.
Neveah diverted her gaze from King Jian, it was hard to think clearly while caught in his intense gaze, and this was a mont when Neveah did need to think clearly, perhaps more than she ever had in her life.
Neveah shifted her attention to staring ahead of her as she contemplated over King Jian’s words, confusion and disbelief churning within her heart.
Be with them both? Xenon and King Jian?
’Was she truly allowed to make such a choice? Would that not be too selfish of her?’ Neveah wondered.
’Would both n truly be able to accept such a choice? Or was King Jian just placing her needs before his own?’ Neveah’s mind was reeling with a dozen questions.
If King Jian was hurting himself to make her feel better, Neveah did not think she would ever be able to forgive herself for it... Neveah did not think she would ever be able to truly be happy knowing what she had done.
"Do not say such things to , Jian. I understand you want to make things easier for , but it should not be at the cost of both you and Xenon." Neveah reprimanded lightly.
"I am not jesting, or saying words I think you want to hear, Veah. Xenon bears your mark, the decision was already made then."
"Do you believe you could bear to undo it? And do you believe I would allow you put him through that?" King Jian asked.
Neveah blinked in astonishnt, she was not sure what answers she could give to King Jian’s questions.
"This is not a decision that is just yours to make, Neveah. Xenon is my brother, as I am to him. What you do not realise is, both bonds are already entwined."
"As surely as you share a bond with Xenon, I do as well. One bond can no longer be separated from the other without dealing grave damage to the other." King Jian said.
"For as long as you are bonded to , my bond with Xenon will still tie you both together... this is the nature of our bond, it is the sa if you choose to bond with Xenon."
"The only way you can truly be freed, is severing both bonds..." King Jian said,
Neveah’s heart sank low to the pit of her stomach. The thought of severing one bond was cruel enough on her, how could she severe both?
"Hence you have a choice to make Veah, severe both bonds...or accept it." King Jian revealed, his gaze telling that not a word he had said was untrue.
His words were not forceful, instead they were patient, intent on making Neveah understand the gravity of her choices.
"You an to say, the bond you and Xenon share will be affected if I were to severe the bond with either of you?" Neveah asked slowly.
King Jian nodded to confirm Neveah’s question.
"Jian...that, is Xenon aware of any of this?" Neveah asked King Jian in disbelief.
"He feels what I feel, he knows the state of both our bonds as well as I do...I believe we are of the sa mind." King Jian replied to Neveah with certainty.
The decisive tone with which King Jian spoke made it clear to Neveah that both brothers had long co to this conclusion, they had never even been confused on what path to take.
All along, Neveah was the only one tortured by the reality that she would have to make a choice between her true bond and the man she loved.
"I... Would it truly be okay? The rider council, the..." Neveah began to say but King Jian cut her off.
"You will not think of anyone or anything else, Neveah. Think only for yourself... for Xenon and for ." King Jian asserted.
Neveah bit down on her lip, her mind overwheld with thoughts. She knew whatever she said now could not be retracted.
"We will not be taking no for an answer, Veah." A voice Neveah had not expected to hear clarified.
Neveah glanced up in surprise, finding Xenon standing a short distance away from them, his hands crossed over his chest.
Neveah just stared at him in silence, unable to form any words. She had known Xenon had regained consciousness but Neveah had not been ready to face him yet.
But now, she could only stare at him in stunned silence, all the more awed by the faint tinge of her scent radiating off of him.
"You have to take responsibility for this..." Xenon said, gesturing to his neck with a pointed look.
"Wouldn’t you agree?" Xenon asked Neveah.
Neveah finally broke out of her daze, she glanced over at King Jian who just watched in silence.
Neveah searched his eyes, there was no bla or judgent in them, all she could see was warmth and adoration.
"Are you sure about this? Jian... If this will hurt you in anyway..." Neveah trailed off when King Jian reached a hand out to caress her cheek.
"Did I forget to ntion, on the day Xenon awakened from his coma, I made him a vow... that if the Creator blessed
with true bond, that bond would be his also." King Jian admitted quietly.
"That was... decades ago..." Neveah muttered quietly.
"Forgive , Veah, the vow of a King is sealed by the heavens... Xenon was always going to be a part of us. Loving him first...was not a mistake." King Jian confessed.
Neveah glanced between both n, her mind reeling from all she was being told.
"Say yes to us, Veah..." King Jian whispered, his eyes searching Neveah’s.
