Chapter 519: Sealed Away 2 (Ch.520)
"And now... Devirld has found itself a new host." King Jian paused, glancing down at Neveah.
His eyes held a mix of concern and self bla.
Neveah was at a loss for words, it all made sense to her now. The voice in her head had showed up not long after her encounter with the dark fairy.
Neveah had never expected that the treasure she had lost to the dark fairy had sohow gotten into her mind instead.
"I just... how did it bind to
of all the hands the oak box touched? Why choose ? Could it be...it already knew that we were...?" Neveah asked in disbelief.
King Jian sighed quietly, they were almost out of the forest now but King Jian had taken a different path from the one Neveah had used, he also did no go to retrieve Neveah’s horse so Neveah guessed he was headed in a different direction from Dune Castle.
"Devirld is a strange weapon...my father is the only one who truly understands the depths of it’s ability. Devirld is also very cunning, it always has been..."
"It may have a mind of it’s own, but it lacks the ability to harbor any feelings of empathy or reasonability. All it knows is it’s purpose to bind to a host and for that, it will do anything." King Jian begun.
"Yes, Veah... I am not certain but it is highly likely Devirld already knew that you were to be my bonded before he bound himself to you." King Jian admitted in a grim tone.
"To use ...to get to you." Neveah murmured in understanding.
"When you shared your strength with , I knew then that it was Devirld... but sothing is different, Veah." King Jian revealed.
"What is?" Neveah asked in confusion.
"Devirld is very unstable... dangerous. Other than my father, no one has wielded it. It would take years to have a semblance of control of it..."
"But you have a very strong hold on Devirld, you can channel it’s strength with more control than I had imagined possible." King Jian said to Neveah in a thoughtful tone.
"Is this a good thing? Or a bad thing?" Neveah asked warily.
"Veah... I do not know, but I will not experint it. I cannot take any risks with you... I cannot trust Devirld not to harm you for it’s own selfish interest."
"It’s power will grow increasingly tasking on your body and you are only part dragon...it will have more control as ti passes and magic tears are just the beginning." King Jian said.
Neveah understood King Jian’s aning, what had happened a mont ago was completely out of Neveah’s control.
From the ti she had taken Devirld’s hand and tapped into it’s strength up until now, the level of control it had on her physical form had advanced greatly.
Originally, Devirld’s presence on the surface of her mind was only manifested by glowing eyes, but a mont ago, it was far beyond that.
Had King Jian not stepped in and commanded Devirld’s retreat, it would have carried on doing what it had been doing with no care that it was hurting Neveah.
"I cannot and will not have my mind be subject to the control of another...my mind belongs to I and my wolf alone, there’s no space for a third presence." Neveah said in a serious tone.
What Devirld had done a mont ago not only affected Neveah but her wolf also and it was this Neveah absolutely could not tolerate.
"Is there any way to take it out? It binded to
without my consent in the first place and all this magic business...it just is not for ." Neveah asked King Jian hopefully.
King Jian was quiet for a mont before he nodded once.
"I will send for the appropriate persons and seek out a solution." King Jian assured Neveah.
They fell quiet then. Neveah knew there was more to the tale of Devirld, there was a reason why there was such pain concealed in King Jian’s tone when he spoke of it, but she did not ask further.
King Jian had shared more than enough, more than Neveah had expected...he had even spoken of his father, his brother Asrig and the ti of dragon servitude which he never, ever spoke about.
Neveah was already grateful for that much.
"Where are we going? The cliff?" Neveah asked, glancing around to realise they had erged in a rocky terrain. Neveah recalled there was a cliff not so far ahead.
"I am not taking you anywhere near a cliff, Neveah." King Jian replied directly.
Neveah laughed quietly, raising a single brow as she studied the frown on King Jian’s face.
"I am not suicidal, Jian." Neveah pointed out, still chuckling quietly.
"With ... I cannot be certain." King Jian murmured.
He stopped at a particularly high ledge, a good ways away from the cliff and there he let Neveah down to sit before he took a sit beside her.
Neveah stared over at King Jian, unsure what to say to him.
"It was an impulsive decision on my part." Neveah admitted.
"One I contributed greatly to." King Jian asserted,
Neveah could not deny this, King Jian had played a part with his refusal to grant her rightly earned wish, but it had not been entirely that.
"It was just how bad I wanted freedom then..." Neveah murmured quietly.
King Jian nodded in understanding.
"Do you still want to get away that badly?" King Jian asked Neveah.
"I...well... I am already away, am I not?" Neveah asked.
King Jian glanced over at Neveah with a raised brow.
"I an, look around you, Your Grace. This is not Keep Skies or the mighty Dragon Keep, this is the White Dunes...my ho." Neveah said, a small smile settling on her lips.
"Your ho..." King Jian murmured to himself.
"I am not going to run away... running has never solved anything. And it was never my strong forte, anyways." Neveah said quietly.
