Chapter 466: I Owe You (Ch.467)

"Neveah." King Jian acknowledged, his voice a low rumble, further deepening his already deep baritone.

Neveah pursed her lips, expecting to be confronted with unsolicited sympathy which was all she had been on the receiving end of recently, that was if the Dragon King could even muster the feeling.

Neveah hoped not, she had received enough pitiful looks to last her through a third lifeti and then so.

King Jian said nothing more for a heartbeat and then he turned around so he now faced Neveah and stared right at her.

But Neveah did not et his gaze, she kept her attention fixed on everything else that was not him until King Jian made a direct demand.

"Look at , Neveah." King Jian’s words did not give any room for a contrary opinion.

Neveah lifted her gaze, eting King Jian’s eyes as he wanted.

What she found in them was not what she had expected at all, it was neither sympathy, nor his usual cold and emotionless look.

It was much more similar to the look he had when he raged at her back at the fodder grooves, but it was still not exactly that.

The look in King Jian’s eyes was definitely rage, Neveah could see it not just in his eyes but in his countenance that he was angry at her and she had no idea as to why.

In the past, they had one too many differences, they could never see eye to eye on anything and each had very difficult ideals, Neveah had learned to stay out of King Jian’s way as much as she could.

In recent tis, Neveah’s life had been far too eventful to even afford the ti to have any altercations with the Dragon King, so what exactly had she done to annoy him this ti?

"I... did I do sothing wrong?" Neveah asked uncertainly, breaking the silence first when it did not seem like King Jian was ready to speak anyti soon.

A quiet scoff sounded from King Jian at Neveah’s question, like he could hardly believe she was unaware of what she had done.

"What would it matter? You are one who only does as it pleases you, this is a fact known to all." King Jian finally said, his tone giving no inclination as to if there was an underlying aning to his words.

"If I do not co to you, you would leave without a word?" King Jian asked after another short mont of silence.

Neveah blinked in astonishnt at the question posed by the Dragon King, it was the last thing she had expected to hear and she was uncertain of what response was expected from her.

"My father said he already ntioned..." Neveah began to say but cut herself off when a low growl rumbled from King Jian.

"I am not asking about Kaideon, I am asking you." King Jian clarified.

"Did you think to ntion your decision to ...in person, or did you not?" King Jian rephrased the question.

"I... I did not think about that." Neveah admitted.

King Jian scoffed beneath his breath, clearly expecting the response Neveah had given.

anwhile, Neveah was still not certain where King Jian was headed with this. It had never occurred to her that she would need to officially report her intentions to King Jian.

Given the circumstances, she had co to what everyone would agree was the best decision and Neveah had naturally assud King Jian would not protest.

But she had let herself forget for a mont that she had not co to Dragon Keep by a twist of fate, chance or so good fortune... she had been sold off by her supposed father at the ti and this very Dragon King had been the one to pay the sum.

All this while, Neveah had tried not to entertain the thought but this reality was one that could never be changed.

"I... know Your Grace is the one who has paid the price in dragon gold and brought

here to Dragon Keep, the sum you have paid, I do not know with what thod I can offset the debt."

" But the White Dunes is still dragon territory... I am not making an attempt to escape your reach or anything of the sort."

"My father and the dune dragons serve and follow you, wholeheartedly. As my father’s daughter, should Your Grace have any orders for , I will give it my all...but I truly cannot stay here anymore, you have to let

go." Neveah reasoned.

Though she was not certain how much good her reasoning would do when it ca to one as adamant as the Dragon King.

"I do not have to do anything." King Jian replied blankly.

"I...Of course, Your Grace is supre ruler. That was the wrong choice of word." Neveah conceded, she simply did not have the energy to banter words with King Jian.

"What would have

do, then?" Neveah asked.

"If you wish to leave, I will allow it." King Jian said.

Neveah raised a brow in surprise, she had not expected the Dragon King would give in that easily.

"Just like that...? I can leave...?" Neveah asked to be clear.

King Jian’s gaze narrowed slightly at Neveah’s questioning.

"Do not push your luck." King Jian warned darkly.

Neveah’s mouth went shut, and she shook her head slightly indicating she had nothing more to say.

"You can go...but..." King Jian continued, passing Neveah a dirty glare when she sighed heavily at the ’but’.

"But... I owe you a wish." King Jian continued with his words.

"I do not go back on my word. I may have failed to fulfill your request the other ti but I do not intend to take back my word."

"Before you leave, claim your wish... whatever you desire, I will give it." King Jian offered.

"I... there is nothing I want..." Neveah murmured quietly but trailed off when she noticed King Jian’s brows narrowing again.
