Chapter 464: Wherever You Go (Ch.465)

A content growl rumbled in narx’s chest and his hands went around Neveah’s waist, pulling her closer to himself as he deepened the kiss.

His kiss was different this ti, more demanding, more insistent, like he wanted Neveah to feel and understand his heart and hers too, to understand that bond or no bond, nothing had changed.

narx lifted Neveah up so her legs wrapped securely around his waist and he backed them into an empty cell, till Neveah’s back hit the wall, leaving her with no path of retreat.

How he could tell which cells were empty at the mont was best known to him.

Sowhere in the back of Neveah’s mind, she did know that this was wrong, that she had made a choice and it ant an end to all she and narx shared.

And though she knew it clearly, that this would only make things more difficult, she had been unable to walk away in that mont she needed to, if only this once, Neveah did not wish to be rational.

_____________

Neveah stepped out of the basent level, her mind ridden with thoughts and her heart heavy.

Her hands were clenched into tight fists and she desperately fought back the tears threatening to slip out of her eyes.

She could still hear narx’s plea, his reassuring words, his enticing scent, the taste of him... his touch, and at the sa ti, she could still rember the words she had said to him after she broke the kiss.

Words that had left him in a pained daze as she took her leave, knowing he would not be able to go after her.

Many would say Neveah had done the right thing, but in Neveah’s heart, nothing had ever felt more wrong than pulling away from narx’s hold a mont ago.

Nothing had ever felt more wrong than the solemn vow in her heart that the mont of weakness she had just displayed would be the last and every ounce of emotion that weighed her down would have to be done away with.

Neveah had planned on taking a walk to clear her head, however she ca to a stop when she t Adrienne right outside the basent level.

For how long Adrienne had been standing there, Neveah was not certain but the looks on the faces of the dragon guards revealed how unsettled they were at Adrienne’s presence, more so when Neveah erged from the basent.

King Jian had given orders that narx was not to see Neveah, but no one knew what to do when Neveah and Adrienne were in the sa space.

"There’s blood...on your lip..." Adrienne was the first to break the silence.

A frown settled on Neveah’s face at Adrienne’s first words and Neveah lifted a thumb to wipe her lips, watching Adrienne’s gaze and the hurt she tried to hide in them.

Neveah was drained, emotionally and otherwise, she could not even muster the strength to feel sympathy for Adrienne.

"He...is okay?" Adrienne asked again after a long mont when she realized Neveah had no intentions of saying a single word.

There was nothing to be said, whatever conclusion had co to Adrienne’s mind was her own problem to deal with,

"He will be." Neveah replied blankly and she continued on her way but stopped again just when she brushed past Adrienne.

" If you do live to see the breaking of dawn, then rember this. The dragons are no fools, bond or no bond, narx will be the first to rip your head off if you choose to stand against dragon dynasty."

" Since he has made peace with the bond you share, he will save you and I do not care who you are now or where your loyalties lie at this ti, but from this mont, you will beco soone worthy of his bond... Or I will return and take him back." Neveah made clear.

Neveah did not wait to hear what Adrienne had to say, she strode away and she just kept walking till she was as far away as possible, but she knew she could not get as far as her quarters before she broke down and so she stepped into the nearest door in sight.

Neveah soon found herself at a balcony, and it was there she finally let out a shaky breath, her hand clutched her chest as though she could grasp at her heart if she held on tight enough.

Neveah gasped quietly, her heart constriction painfully with each heartbeat and she sucked in a deep breath, gritting her teeth against the pain as she stared out over dragon keep and the citadel beyond, as far as her sight could allow.

Neveah sensed his presence the mont he arrived, she had thought his absence all this ti ant he had done exactly as she had asked...stayed away,

But Neveah realized just how wrong she had been when his arms encircled around her waist and he hugged her tightly from behind, so tight Neveah knew she could not fall apart even if she tried.

"Xenon..." Neveah whispered quietly, her voice cracking.

"You hurt him with words you do not an, to force him to let go, yet the one who is most hurt is you. Why do you choose to torture yourself so, little wolf?" Xenon whispered.

"I thought... I thought you had left, but you...were there...all along, you have been there..." Neveah realized quietly.

"I have never been far from reach... and never will I be...you, are my path, my journey...if I am to leave, you will also be my destination." Xenon assured.

"You...do you not loathe ?...I choose to leave without sparing you a thought..." Neveah stuttered out.

"Leave then, see how far you can get away from ...." Xenon replied, his warm breath fanning against the side of Neveah’s face as he nuzzled his head closer to her.

Neveah sucked in a sharp breath, the calm intensity in Xenon’s every word was never easy to handle.

"If your heart is not here, then go to where your heart is... and when the ti is right, I will co for you... I have long entrusted you my heart, wherever you go... I will co to you..." Xenon vowed.

And in silence they stood there, one had made a vow and the other wholeheartedly believed it.
