Chapter 442: The World You Live In(Ch.443)

narx walked into his quarters, his eyes first settled on his bed that was noticeably empty.

narx heart dropped, cold terror creeping up on him.

There was no one else in the room but Estelle who paced worriedly and as she noticed narx’s arrival, she turned to him, her eyes wide and wary.

"Where is she?" narx asked, his tone chilling cold.

"I... Veah woke up not long after you left. She didn’t say where she was going..." Estelle reported nervously.

"And you let her go by herself? In her condition?" narx demanded.

"She did not wish to be followed... she ordered

to stay back and convey the sa to you." Estelle relayed grimly.

narx sucked in a sharp breath breath at Estelle’s words, his heart sinking down even deeper than it had when he stepped into the room.

"She cannot be out and about the Keep in her state... especially not with this tension. I will go bring her back, you stay here just in case she returns." narx instructed, heading back out.

"Did you hear of it? The Lady Adrienne was Lord narx’s true bonded all along." A group of attendants whispered amongst themselves.

"Was it why she was always displeased by Lady Neveah’s existence even before it was discovered?" Another asked,

"Even so, Lady Adrienne went too far. But what can one say, all of that does not matter anymore." The first attendant to speak said again, shaking her head.

"Does this an the Lady of Ruby Scales will change? Two rgings have already been completed, the bond is a done deal." A third attendant chipped in.

"That was before a true bond ca into the picture. A chosen bond can never be compared to a true bond, it is just not possible."

"I fear even the Lord of Ruby Scales cannot resist the bond for much longer...heavens forbid Lady Adrienne were to die, Lord narx would face a severing! If only for his own good, Lord narx will have to honor the bond." Ca another opinion.

"And Lord Xenon even offended the Fae royal council all for this, but the Fae council will never back down. How can they watch their princess die when Lord narx’s scale can surely save her life?" Another asked.

"It seems Lady Neveah will have no way out. No matter how much she wants to hold onto the bond, she will be unable to overco the true bond. Lord narx will slowly drift away from her...that is if the Fae royal council do not get to her first."

The exchange continued as the attendants hurried down the halls and Neveah watched in silence from where she stood.

They had been so occupied with their conversation, they had not noticed Neveah standing not so far away from them, and she heard every word with a blank expression.

They were not even the first or second group Neveah had t in her short walk through the Keep, everyone, everywhere were all talking about her.

For the past half hour, Neveah had been walking aimlessly with no destination in mind. She stayed out of sight, as much as she could and took the routes through the Keep she knew mostly attendants took, that way she would not have to encounter anyone else.

But even then, her na was the word on every tongue. Lady Neveah this... Lady Neveah that.

So accused her of being cruel, refusing to save Lady Adrienne even when she knew how to... whereas Neveah had not even been conscious since the grand ball.

Others spoke of her with sympathy, an emotion Neveah most detested being on the receiving end of.

Of all the tis Neveah had beco the topic of common conversation, this was the first ti she truly understood how unpleasant and hurtful it was... this was the first ti she even cared.

Neveah continued on her way, exiting the Keep through a side door, she headed to the forest behind the Keep where she knew she could be by herself, if only for a short ti.

But of course, nothing ever went Neveah’s way and it was proven again when Lady Keila stepped out from the cover of trees.

Neveah kept on walking, intending to walk right past like she had not seen the fairy but Lady Keila moved, blocking Neveah’s path.

"Lady Neveah." Keila acknowledged, lowering her head to a small bow of respect.

Neveah stopped walking, sucking in a deep breath, she exhaled slowly before she spoke.

"I have nothing to say to you." Neveah said blankly, it was not hard to tell just what Lady Keila had co to say.

From the fairy’s expression and countenance, Neveah could tell the past day had not been easy on her either.

Her reddened eyes were evidence that she had been crying for awhile already, it was after all her sister’s life in the mix.

"If you will not speak, then just listen." Keila replied.

Neveah scoffed beneath her breath, turning around, she headed in a different direction but paused in her step when a sound reached her.

Neveah spun around slowly to find Keila on her knees, her eyes brimming with tears.

"I know this is unfair to you... and I know how selfish it is of

to be doing this right now. But I cannot just watch Addie die like this... I do not know how to accept this..." Keila said desperately.

"I have no intentions of breaking my bond with narx, your sister’s life is of no consequence to ." Neveah interrupted.

"She wants to see you... Adrienne. I have not co to request anything from you but that you give her a mont of your ti." Keila pleaded.

Neveah tilted her head up, praying for calm.

"You know it is wrong, yet you ask it anyway. You know it is unfair but still you ask it. Your sister deserves to live at all costs...but I do not." Neveah murmured in a lancholic tone.

"Keila... the world you live in must only be full of you and your loved ones." Neveah said with a chuckle of derision.

Neveah walked past Keila, not giving her another mont of attention. She did not head to the cliff this ti, she knew they would go there first when searching for her.

Instead she headed down a path through the back forest she had never taken before.
