Chapter 390: Weinlor (Ch.390)
Jian sat on his throne, his expression blank, the rider’s council was already gathered and Jian had given his permission for the elves to be summoned.
The doors to the throne room ca open and the representatives of the elven council strode in.
There were five of them, three male elves and two females. Among the five, Jian recognize three of them to be mbers of the elven council while the other two were elven guards who were not as familiar to Jian.
It had been decades since Jian had any reason to summon the elves but he still recognised these faces of the council mbers, they were noble blooded elves and highly respected amongst their kind.
"Greetings, Your Grace, the Dragon King." The elves greeted in unison, their palms placed flat over their heart and their head bowed low as was the greeting pattern of the elves.
The leader of the representatives stepped out and Jian’s brow twitched slightly, the only visible sign of his displeasure.
"My Liege..." Cassian thought guiltily to Jian through their mind link, their thoughts shared with the rest of the king’s guard.
"You did not think to give us a heads up that it was him?" Kirgan was the first to confront Cassian through the mind link.
"He knew well enough not to give his na ahead of ti. I only realised it was him when I t them below the mountain, last night. I thought it would be better left unsaid." Cassian thought back.
"This just beca a lot more troubleso." Imagor thought.
"Don’t we know it?" narx agreed before they all returned their attention to the elves.
The leader of the elves was a young elf, Lord Weinlor was his na, if Jian’s mory served him correctly and Jian was sure it did.
One would say Lord Weinlor was in his early thirties going by human age.
But Jian was certain this was about Lord Weinlor’s second century, Jian had known this elf for that long, it was hard to forget how long such a troubleso elf had existed.
Jian did not truly have an opinion of the elves on the elven council, as long as their lifetis were, they still did not live as long as dragons and so there had been quite a number of changes on the council since the uprising.
However if there was one elf Jian did have an opinion of, it was this Lord Weinlor and the opinion Jian had of him was not good at all and the king’s guard shared Jian’s disdain.
"Weinlor, you honor us with your presence." Kirgan broke the tense silence first since Jian clearly had no intentions of acknowledging the elves now that he had seen Weinlor.
"The feeling is not mutual, Lord of Erald Scales." Lord Weinlor replied, which invalidated Kirgan’s attempt at being diplomatic.
Kirgan’s forced smile dropped, his expression converting to a dark glare.
"Yes, well since we are of the sa thought, make haste and be on your way." Kirgan advised.
"That would depend on how this eting goes." Weinlor replied.
narx scoffed beneath his breath at the self assured tone of the elf, the kind of tone that ca with knowing the dragons would risk war with the elves if they ripped off his head as they so obviously wanted to do.
"What brings you to Dragon Keep... unannounced?" Jian finally spoke, placing emphasis on the word unannounced.
"A number of reasons, and I will state them in order of priority, beginning from the least." Weinlor inford.
"Surely...we have no better place to be." Imagor stated in a tone dripping with sarcasm.
"Do you believe you can summon the rider’s council at your will and keep us here listening to a number of complaints you could have filed as a report?!" A rider on the second squadron, Lady lya hissed in annoyance, her eyes narrowed in displeasure.
"He must think our council is his personal audience." Her dragon, Lord Valdon supported.
Of course, Weinlor pointedly ignored all the displeasure his presence had stirred and began stating out his reports either ways.
"First, the autumn fairy clan and the rfolk have had so intense confrontation in the past month." Weinlor began.
"We are aware of this, I flew to Dusk Castle and saw about it myself." Kirgan interrupted.
"Did you now?" Weinlor asked in a way that was more a taunt than it was a statent.
"We would appreciate it if you just went straight to the point." narx said in exasperation.
"What Lord Kirgan ant by seeing to it was ensuring the Dusk Castle would not get caught up in the confrontation if it accelerated to a battle." Weinlor continued.
"But that was not a solution, was it? It was only shifting the battle ground and pushing forward the inevitable." Weinlor stated clearly.
"What is that to an?" Kirgan snarled in annoyance before he turned to Jian.
"My Liege, as I reported, both the Lord of the r sea and the autumn fairy queen gave their word that they would cease all aggressions." Kirgan assured.
"I am very certain they did, who would not say anything to avoid angering the dragon lords? Enforcing a peace agreent on both parties does not solve the underlying cause."
"As I said, you have only shifted the battle to a later date." Weinlor insisted on his opinion.
"We do not dispute that, Kirgan’s orders were to stall and provide ti for further asures to be taken. Now these are the affairs of the dragon court and will be handled by us, since when was it your turn to get involved?" Jian asked coldly.
"Since the battle front shifted to our moon forest." Weinlor deadpanned.
"The rs have reclaid their moon shores and banned all external races from trespassing in their rage at the autumn fairy clan."
"And I am certain you know as well as I do that the nutrient water of the moon shores not only enriches the Fae royal forest but also the moon forest of the elves."
"My people will be caught in the middle of this supposed ceased aggression and our moon forest will be compromised."
"In our opinion, it would have been better both parties battled it out." Weinlor said.
