Chapter 355: Rephrased Question (Ch.355)

Neveah was surprised to awaken to narx’s arms around her, her eyes were still heavy with sleep but she leaned up slightly.

narx loosened his hold on Neveah’s waist so she could turn over and Neveah was even more astonished to find Lord Everon also stood there, leaning against the table.

"I will report to My Liege." Everon said, nodding in greeting to Neveah before he took his leave.

Neveah’s gaze then moved to narx who stared back at her.

"How co...they said you’d co in a day’s ti...?" Neveah asked in confusion.

"Does it hurt?" narx replied to Neveah’s question with a question of his own, his hand moving down to linger just above her injured side.

Neveah winced on instinct before she quickly adjusted her features, but it was too late, narx already caught it.

A myriad of emotions swirled in narx’s eyes, worry, relief and many others Neveah could not quite identify.

It was not Neveah’s intention to worry narx, but she knew covering up her pain would only hurt narx more.

"I... terribly." Neveah admitted quietly, there was no use denying it.

narx exhaled audibly, resting his head against Neveah’s.

"Forgive , beloved. Wherever you are... I will be there."

"I have co late this ti, but never again... I swear it. I will always be by your side." narx vowed in a quiet whisper.

He said the words with such solemn promise that Neveah could feel how deeply and truly he ant them.

Neveah could also see how deeply it hurt narx to see that she had been hurt.

It was a strangely heartwarming feeling, knowing that you were so dearly treasured by soone even more than you treasured your own self.

Especially for Neveah who had relied on no one else but her own self all her life.

"I know." Neveah replied, relaxing into narx’s hold.

Neveah lay her head against narx’s chest, breathing in his familiar scent.

All the tension that had lingered since Neveah had been locked down in that dwarf cell eased away.

narx brought along with him a rare feeling of reassurance and more than that, his presence carried a sense of ho.

Or whatever this warm feeling was, Neveah herself was not certain what ho felt like but whatever it was, Neveah was sure it was just this warm.

narx’s effect on Neveah was growing and Neveah knew it too.

"I may have offended His Grace." Neveah confessed in a quiet tone, her voice muffled against narx’s chest.

"So I heard...it would not be the first ti too." narx asked with a quiet chuckle.

"Did you hear how?" Neveah asked.

narx humd in response.

"Why? Could my stubborn little wolf possibly regret her actions already?." narx asked in amusent.

"You’re not angry at ?" Neveah asked to be sure.

"Do you really wish for

to answer that?" narx asked.

Neveah nodded slowly though narx’s words had her wincing.

"Jian is my brother, my king. I have sworn a lifeti oath to him and he is of greater importance to

than my own life."

"I never thought there would co a ti when there would be anyone that I valued as much as I do him...until now." narx said honestly.

"I would love for my brother and the woman I love to get along, but I know it will take ti."

"That being said, you have always been clear about your stand with Jian, I could never be angry at you." narx assured.

Neveah pursed her lips slightly, she did know her constant altercations with the dragon king placed narx in a difficult position.

But there were tis like this when it could not have been avoided.

Even so, for narx, Neveah was willing to take a step back this ti.

"I won’t withhold the information he wants from him anymore... I’ll apologize too." Neveah promised.

narx shook his head slightly.

"My love for you are not shackles, Veah. Your free spirit and willfulness are part of what I love about you, so do what you will when you will it."

"No one dares force you to anything, I won’t stand for it." narx clarified.

"I know you will always have my back and choose to stand with , Narx... I fear it will cause you harm." Neveah said with a quiet sigh.

"Then let it." narx replied without a mont’s hesitation.

It was a simple statent, yet Neveah’s heart did a strange flip.

Neveah stared up at narx, the sincerity in his eyes left her feeling humbled, but more than humbled, it stirred a rare desire within Neveah.

Neveah suddenly felt an intense urge to be as close to narx as possible and she could not even be bothered to resist it.

"You see, I’m not usually the gentle type. I am not accustod to seeking consent for what I want...but I’m fighting a desperate urge right now and I’m badly losing..." Neveah began

"On that note, may I kiss you?" Neveah asked.

narx raised a brow, his lips twitching in amusent at Neveah’s familiar words.

"I do not prefer the gentle type..." narx saw to that first.

"So beloved, that is a question you never have to ask . I have been dying for a taste of your lips for days now... indulge ." narx replied in a husky tone.

Neveah leaned down slowly till her lips hovered just an inch away from his, her gaze still fixed on narx red orbs.

"I think I will have to rephrase my question then." Neveah murmured.

Neveah moved slightly, knowing that narx’s eyes trailed her, she adjusted her position so she straddled him, ignoring the ache from her wound.

"Veah..." narx warned, his orbs darkening with desire.

"What I actually ant to ask was, may I do more than kiss you?" Neveah adjusted to the question she truly wanted to ask.

A low growl rumbled in narx’s chest, his hands moving up to settle on Neveah’s waist.

"The Lord of Ruby scales is your man, take what you will... whenever..." narx replied, his voice huskier than it had been a mont ago.

"I must say... I do love the sound of that..." Neveah murmured as she dipped her head down, her lips eting narx’s in a heated kiss.
