Chapter 278: A Claim (Ch.278)
The nymph guards were quick to protect their high maiden, they rushed forwards, blocking Estelle’s path from her.
Estelle paused on her step, breathing heavily. Her hands were clenched into tight fists at her side, so tight that Estelle’s fingernails pierced into her flesh, yet she hardly took notice of it.
Estelle had never felt so furious in her life, not even when her father had said she could not be with Jason which was the only ti Estelle could rember she had not gotten her way.
This was nothing like the anger of the bratty and stubborn blazed princess, this was far greater.
The rage that surged through Estelle’s veins rivalled the potency of the bone chilling terror she had felt on that night Fort Blazed had disappeared.
The air felt hot and scorching in her lungs as Estelle breathed in heavily, her chest rising and falling rapidly and she could not even spare a thought to calming herself down.
All that Estelle could see, all that she cared to see was the defenseless state Dante was in and the woman taking advantage of it.
"And who are you exactly? To speak of my bonded?" The High Maiden of the Nord clan asked.
’Bonded... bonded...bonded!...’
The words rang through Estelle’s mind repeatedly, a mantra that fueled her rage and slowly blocked off every sane thought.
Estelle’s mind created various scenarios of how this nymph woman had hurt the ever reliable Dante to leave him in such a state and with each scenario that flashed through Estelle’s mind, the urge to deal a far greater harm to the enemy grew stronger.
"Estelle Starron... and I want your head!" Estelle hissed, taking another step forward, her narrowed gaze darting to the nymph guards that slowly began circling her.
One... two... three, Estelle made a head count that rounded up at seven. There were seven nymph guards circling Estelle at the mont and Estelle’s sensitive ears picked up on the sound of more approaching.
Soon she would be sward with nymph guards, before she could even make a move.
Rationally, Estelle knew she stood no chance but rationality had flown out the window the mont she had set eyes on Dante.
All that was left was rage, a growing killing intent and a thirst for the blood of one woman in particular who was the center of Estelle’s attention.
A lightblood was just this kind of being, though Estelle lacked the gifts of a true dragon but she surely did not fall short on the rage and feral urges.
Estelle had heard her father say it many tis, that the reason a lightblood was raised to always keep their emotions in check was the abundance of savagery for which they had no use or thod of expression.
A dragon could at least breathe fire...but what could Estelle do with all the anger that burned through her veins at this mont? This intense urge to kill?
Especially when Estelle knew well enough that it was just her... against the nymph kind.
And the thought of that only angered Estelle more. Yes, it was just her... she had already lost everyone and now it was just her, because these nymphs had taken away the one person she had left.
Everything and everyone in the world was getting on Estelle’s nerves and she already had enough of it.
"Stand down girl, we do not want to hurt you." One of the nymph guards warned.
Within her mind, Estelle wondered if she appeared to the nymphs like soone who was intimidated at the thought of getting hurt.
"I am Estelle Starron of Fort Blazed... lightblood, dragon blood! So hurt ... I dare you!" Estelle challenged right back, her muscles taut and prepared to lunge at any mont.
She could not take them all on, Estelle knew this. But she would kill the one who had laid hand on Dante, and the cost was of no matter.
Estelle felt an arm on her shoulder and her furious gaze turned to settle on Lord Farren.
Her fists twitching, Estelle would only allow a few words and if she did not like the ring of these words, soone would pay for it.
"Child, calm yourself. Let
sort this out, it is the reason I have co...to help you." Lord Farren assured.
Estelle breathed in deeply, her gaze moving back to settle on the nymph who still stood close to Dante... offensively close.
"Tell her to step away from Dante or Creator help ..." Estelle threatened in a dangerously low tone.
"And why should I do that?" The high maiden answered first before Lord Farren could even say a word.
"Because...he is mine!" Estelle declared, the words coming out far more forcefully and with far greater implication than she had intended.
The guard nymphs paused, the high maiden too and Estelle herself was montarily frozen by her declaration and the possessive tone that it ca with.
But now that the words were out, just as before, there was no taking them back.
"What is your claim to him?" The high maiden asked, her tone cold.
"Dante is my husband." Estelle replied directly.
"This is true, Lady lissa, I have sent you a ssage stating so. The man belongs to another, you cannot override an already established bond. You have to let him go... to his wife." Lord Farren supported, attempting to quell the situation.
High Maiden lissa scoffed audibly at Lord Farren’s words.
"I do not have to do anything, Lord Farren. And you cannot make , the claim is the lightblood’s alone and my bonded is unable to confirm it... how do I know she is not lying?" High Maiden lissa countered.
"Bonded?! You do not even know his na!" Estelle hissed in disbelief.
"We will build a life together child, there is ti enough to know all that I need to."
"For us nymphs, we know the right one at first sight... and we are never wrong." High Maiden lissa made clear.
