Chapter 230: Known To All But Him (Ch.230)
The ascending room stopped halfway down and Jian stood within, his eyes closed and his arms crossed over his chest as his mories faded off to the back of his mind.
The doors to the ascending room ca open, soone else had stopped it from one of the lower levels.
Jian’s eyes remained closed but his nose twitched slightly, taking note of the sll of fairy.
"Your Grace!" Lady Adrienne exclaid in surprise, her breath cutting off for a mont as she stared straight at the dragon king.
After a short mont, Adrienne had been unable to withhold her curiosity and she was intent on tailing Neveah to see just where she was headed at such a ti.
Adrienne could not have expected she would run into Dragon King Jian... the most desirable man in all of the Asvarian stronghold and the man Adrienne intended to make hers.
Adrienne had never gotten any opportunities before this, the dragon king was solitary and hardly seen about the keep.
She also knew nothing of King Jian’s likes or what places he favored to visit and so for the longest ti, Adrienne had felt helpless.
Adrienne only held onto the fact that if she did well enough in the healer’s academy and beca Lord Everon’s personal student, she would accompany Lord Everon at all tis, even when he was summoned to tend to the King.
King Jian would see no other healer but Lord Everon, that was Adrienne’s only way to get close enough to the dragon king.
If not for that cause, what did Adrienne care about the healing arts? Becoming a re physician was certainly not her ambition.
anwhile, Jian could not be bothered by the new presence, he guessed it would be a surprise to anyone to find him taking the ascending room at such late hours when all he ever did was fly.
"Greetings, Your Grace. Might I co in?" Lady Adrienne asked, her tone completely changed all of a sudden.
The coy and bashful tone ca as no surprise to Jian, he had heard there were many won within the keep who had set their designs on him.
Though it was a wonder to Jian why anyone would bother to desire the unattainable but Jian guessed all who lived had their own judgent, flawed or otherwise.
Again, Jian could not be bothered to respond.
Lady Adrienne also realized this, the wise thing to do would have been to leave, yet how could she let go of such an opportunity?
Lady Adrienne stepped into the ascending room and let the doors close again and the ascending room continued it’s descent.
The silence was unnerving, Adrienne even wondered if the dragon king had drifted off to sleep with how completely motionless he was.
And even so, he exuded a majestic and regal aura that Adrienne could not ignore.
Adrienne had always known it, but she had never been so close to the Dragon King before and she had never felt so nervous in her life.
’He is simply majestic.’ Adrienne thought to herself in awe, wondering what she could say to break this silence.
Adrienne wrung her fingers as she thought of what would be right to say. There was only a short ti till the ascending room would arrive the ground level, Adrienne needed to make an impression.
"Your Grace fails to find sleep?" Adrienne asked quickly.
Adrienne’s question was t with silence and she bit her lip, sneaking a glance at the dragon king.
"I..." Adrienne tried again but was cut off mid speech.
"Are we acquainted?" King Jian spoke for the first ti, his rich baritone left Adrienne’s heart beating faster than it ever had.
But the words of the Dragon King did baffle Adrienne. She was the Lady Adrienne, Princess of the Fae and sister-in-law to Lord Lodenworth.
Adrienne bore the title of the fairest maiden in the stronghold.
If nothing else, Adrienne was certain she was well known through the keep and even as far as the entire stronghold.
"It is Adrienne, Your Grace. Lady Adrienne." Adrienne said quickly, not missing a beat now that the dragon king finally said a few words.
"Hmmm... doesn’t ring a bell." King Jian murmured as the ascending room ca to a stop and he stepped out, not glancing back for even a mont.
Adrienne stared after King Jian, her lips trembling as rage surged within her heart.
"It is alright if you do not know
now...you will know soon enough." Adrienne vowed to herself as the doors to the ascending room went closed again.
As the doors closed, a disturbing thought ca to Adrienne’s mind.
"That attendant also snuck out at such an hour, and then His Grace?... Could it be?" Adrienne murmured to herself in dismay before she quickly shook her head.
"It could not be...a re attendant can never win His Grace’s favor." Adrienne reassured herself, yet her heart was greatly uneasy as even she was not assured in her own words.
While the ascending room went closed, Jian was already out in the courtyard of dragon keep.
The chilling cold breeze was a welco feeling and Jian paused for a mont, taking in a deep breath of the clean air.
He tilted his head back, catching the sight of the final flight patrol leaving the keep, they would return in a few days after they had circled through Keep Skies and it’s bordering settlents.
Jian then continued on his way to Mount Edar through the ground route, his pace was slow and he had no intentions of hastening his steps.
Even up till this mont, Jian was not certain of what exactly he would say to Xenon when he arrived.
Jian soon found himself coming to a stop again when he arrived a short distance from the bridge to find he was not the only one headed to Mount Edar.
Slowly manoeuvring her way across the bridge was none other than Neveah, stopping every few monts to take deep breaths in.
"What in the scales is she doing?" Jian murmured with a raised brow.
