Chapter 228: Restless (Ch.228)

It had already been a few hours since narx took his leave, yet Neveah’s mind was yet to settle down. Infact, Neveah grew even more restless with each passing mont and narx’s words replayed in her mind over and over again. "Do you truly believe that?" narx had asked, there was a aning to his words which he did not care to explain and though Neveah waited, narx had said nothing else of it. Neveah had given those words much thought, in an attempt to understand narx’s aning and she still was not clear on exactly why narx had said them. Did she truly believe that Xenon would not listen to her? Neveah did believe so, even if she wanted to believe otherwise, she no longer wanted to live in the deception that she was special to Xenon. Reality had hit hard and harsh when Xenon looked in her eyes and called for another, Neveah never wanted to find herself in that position again. Yet, narx’s question still settled heavily over Neveah’s mind and deprived her of sleep. Did narx words an Xenon had truly made this choice because of Neveah? "With whose permission does he feel guilty to ? I do not want his guilt..." Neveah murmured to herself. Neveah felt she would feel even more pathetic if all Xenon could feel after that event was guilt. "Creator’s fur!" Neveah grunted beneath her breath. Neveah knew she would be restless all night or even for days if she did not sort things out with herself and with Xenon. If anything, Neveah needed to be sure she would not be the reason for Xenon to hurt himself. Neveah sat up on her bed, running a hand through her hair to ta her ssy tresses. She passed a look over at the side of her bed where narx had left behind a newly made riding dress and a pair of boots. narx had co to check in on Neveah a few hours ago before he flew out into the citadel to carry out the order the dragon king had given him. While narx was present, at least Neveah’s thoughts were distracted for a short while and they had conversed for a ti before he took his leave. Neveah had also given no answer to narx’s request but now that she thought about it, it was the best she could do at the ti. Getting off her bed, Neveah pulled on her shoes and fetched a cloak before she headed out of her room. The mont Neveah opened her door, her eyes t a familiar face and Neveah paused in her step, raising a brow. It seed Lady Adrienne had also just stepped out of her room at the sa ti Neveah had...or perhaps she had already been standing there, glaring straight at Neveah’s door. Neveah could not tell and she did not even have the ti to ponder over it and so she regarded Lady Adrienne with an awkward look for a mont before she headed down the hall. _______________ King Jian stood at the balcony of his quarters, gazing down from the highest level of the keep, from a point where he could see his citadel and watch the lives of his people. Whenever Jian’s heart was greatly troubled, he would always find himself here, and truly he was here more often than not. Especially in the past few weeks, with each day bringing with it one trouble after the other. Nothing had truly changed in Dragon Keep, all that was different...was her. A presence that should have been insignificant yet had brought with her a storm so great that his entire Keep was being overturned. Perhaps it was not her intention, but King Jian was only willing to see the fact that too many things were changing since Neveah arrived dragon keep, 1 "My Liege, you should retire for the night." Lord Rodrick’s voice drew King Jian out of his thoughts. "Sleep eludes ...it has for weeks. Why bother?" Jian replied blankly. "My Liege, without the molt scales, your insomnia grows worse by the day. You have not slept in weeks... perhaps we should summon Lord Everon?" Lord Rodrick asked. Jian frowned slightly, his inability to sleep had plagued him for decades already, he was used to it now. For a ti, the tonics Everon brewed from the molt scales were all that helped induce sleep, but the herb was so rare. Everon went through such great efforts to acquire it, it was reserved only for Jian’s tonics but that was until Lady Kaliana’s condition had required it. "Kalia is well...as is the child. That much is enough, the molt scales is not as important." Jian dismissed. "Even so... the disappearance of the molt scales is disturbing. I require a comprehensive report on it. If not the wolf princess... there is still soone within my keep bearing intent to harm." Jian ordered. "As My Liege commands." Lord Rodrick replied with a bow. "You may leave." Jian dismissed Lord Rodrick as he retreated back into his quarters, heading to the door. "My Liege heads to Mount Edar? On foot?" Lord Rodrick asked. "I should ask for the hundredth ti... if he must be so stubborn... perhaps in the ti it takes, I could think up a plot to convince him." Jian replied without turning back. Jian stepped out of his quarters and walked down the hall at a slow pace, his hands crossed behind his back. It had been a while since he walked out the keep, usually he did not prefer walking through the halls of the keep or walking at all. He was a beast of flight, the skies were his truest path and high at that altitude, there was no interference and he could be all by himself as he most preferred to be. But this ti, Jian needed the ti to think. Think of a way to convince a stubborn black scaled dragon that chosing to be cuffed was too cruel to himself... and to everyone else.
