Chapter 191: A Strange Spell (Ch.191)
Estelle’s hand reached out to Dante, with a firm grip on his wrist, she prevented him from drawing his blade.
Dante passed Estelle a questioning look but she shook her head slightly and he relented.
At the sa ti, she moved her cloak slightly so that hilt of her dagger was exposed for a brief mont.
It was only a brief mont but Estelle knew the soldier had caught sight of it because he imdiately stepped back and cleared his throat.
"Everything seems to be fine, let them through." The soldier granted permission and the city gates were opened to let them through.
The group trooped out of Fort Blazed and the gates were soon closed shut behind them while they continued their journey down the path leading away from Fort Blazed under the cover of darkness.
While the attention of the rest of the black smiths were focused on making the return journey in ti, Dante pulled Estelle away and they diverted to a different path without attracting attention.
"We’re out, but that path leads to the Rudder. We must go West." Dante said to Estelle as they made their way into the forest, staying off the main road.
"Give
a mont." Estelle said, sucking in a shaky breath as she sat by a tree, leaning her head back against it.
Now that she was out of Fort Blazed, Estelle could not help feeling overwheld
"We are still but a short distance from Fort Blazed, I do not think it is wise to take a rest now." Dante stated.
What was wise... and what was not, Estelle did not think her mind could comprehend any of that at this mont.
Estelle’s heart was heavy with worry for her father and at the sa ti, her mind kept replaying those words she heard:
"Your one job was to ensure Estelle Starron would not be a problem! The item we have co for is in her hands and clearly, she will not stand with us."
There were the words the sorcerer had said and Jason did not deny them, which ant all along, he approached Estelle with a plan.
"I just... I need a mont to breathe, Dante. Is that okay? Just a mont." Estelle asserted, running a hand through her hair in frustration as she blinked back the tears gathered in her eyes.
It was already at this point, yet Estelle still could not get rid of that tight and stuffy feeling in her chest, she felt as though if she took another step, she would crumble down into a sobbing ss.
"What part of leave Jason out of the picture did you not fully understand, Elle? This is not the ti to despair..." Dante grumbled beneath his breath.
Every word Dante uttered grated on Estelle’s nerves and she found herself snapping again.
"What would you know about love, Dante?! Huh?!" Estelle hissed through gritted teeth.
Dante stiffened slightly at Estelle’s words and passed her a blank look.
"Why? Because I’m dood to never have it? Fair enough." Dante scoffed beneath his breath with a shake of his head.
"That’s... that’s not what I ant." Estelle adjusted her words quickly, she had not ant to make such a statent despite knowing Dante had gone through a severing.
"No Elle...you ant it." Dante countered.
Estelle opened her mouth to protest before a choked sob escaped her and her hands shot up to her mouth, as though that singular action would hold her together.
"You take a jab at
and then sob...who has more reason to shed tears between you and I?" Dante asked with a sigh as he also lowered himself to a sit.
Dante kept his distance, he did not approach Estelle and instead kept his gazed fixed ahead, giving her the ti to let out her sobs.
However, Estelle did not get too long as Dante soon shot up to his feet.
"What is it? What do you hear?" Estelle asked in a shaky tone.
"Soone is out there." Dante relayed to Estelle.
Estelle furrowed her brows slightly and listened for the sound Dante had picked up, it took her a mont but she did pick up the barest sounds of rustling leaves.
Estelle could not believe the Black Network had caught up so easily, there was sothing about that sound that unsettled her.
"We should be getting away from it!" Dante hissed when Estelle moved in the direction of the sound.
"I have a bad feeling about it..." Estelle murmured, trailing off as she followed the sound.
Dante glanced up at the skies for a mont before he heaved a sigh and followed after Estelle.
They trailed the sound till they arrived at the source and the two quickly hid themselves.
Two sorcerers of the Black Network knelt in a clearing before another sorcerer dressed in pitch black clothing with a black mask covering his face.
"Have you found it?" The masked man asked.
"No, My Lord. The girl made away with the item, but we will give chase." One of the kneeling sorcerers replied.
"Well... I did not expect less from the Blazed Lord. And the other affair?" The masked man asked again.
"The blood pillars have been set at the ley lines all around Fort Blazed as ordered, the dragons are too focused on our attack and protecting the item to realize." The second kneeling sorcerer reported.
"They did not realize it when the isle of Kezrar Dún was lost to the shadows... how would they realize it now?" The masked man asked.
"What does My Lord intend?" The second kneeling sorcerer asked again.
"We have laid low for far too long, Asvar has forgotten the power of the Signe Tribe... I should like to remind them..." The masked man - as he stretched a hand out.
In a flash, he slit his palm with a dagger and let his blood flow down to the Earth.
"Awaken the blood pillars, let the Earth heed my command."
" Days beco nights... mountains and rivers collide, the cardinal gates subdued in darkness. What once stood... stands no more..." The masked man whispered.
