Chapter 188: A Discovery (Ch.188)

After a short ti of climbing down in the darkness, Estelle arrived at the outlet.

Pulling aside the ceiling board of a room on the lower floor, Estelle jumped through, landing soundlessly to the ground.

Glancing around, she heaved a sigh of relief to find she was in the storage room and there was no one else present.

Even so, Estelle could hear the sounds of battle and clashing swords coming from sowhere down the hall and her heart thumped uneasily.

"Jason’s room is not so far from here, if the Black Network got here, then Jason is in danger." Estelle murmured to herself in horror.

Estelle glanced down at the box in her hand, contemplating if she could risk saving Jason but no matter how Estelle thought of it, she could not leave knowing Jason was in danger.

Estelle quickly fetched a satchel and put the box into it, pulling off her cloak, she hung the satchel over her shoulders and then pulled on her cloak over it.

Estelle then hid the keychain beneath the neckline of her clothing and sucked in a deep breath.

The castle was crawling with dark sorcerers, but Estelle was certain she could make it to Jason’s room without being spotted, if only she used her knowledge of the castle properly.

Estelle waited and listened till she was certain the path was clear and only then did she venture out, hurrying down the hall as swiftly as she could.

Whenever Estelle picked up approaching footsteps, she would hide herself behind one of the carved statues of dragons and wait as quietly as she could till they passed by.

It did not take too long for Estelle to arrive at the last turn before she would reach Jason’s quarters but a voice reached her and Estelle stopped imdiately.

"Where is the girl?!" A voice that obviously belonged to a dark sorcerer hissed.

"I do not know, she did not co to . I already told you where she would be at the clearing and everything else you needed to know about the Blazed Castle." Another voice that was unmistakably Jason’s replied.

A chilling feeling ran down Estelle’s spine, her heart freezing up as surely as her entire body froze up in terror.

’Jason...is with the Black Network...?’ Estelle thought to herself in disbelief.

Yet how could she doubt a reality that was unfolding right before her eyes?

Jason stood right there with the dark sorcerer, conversing with not even the slightest tremor in his voice.

The timid Jason Estelle knew so well and loved for that too was nowhere to be found.

"Your one job was to ensure Estelle Starron would not be a problem! The item we have co for is in her hands and clearly, she will not stand with us." The dark sorcerer snapped in annoyance.

"Just give

soti, I will find her. So long as she is within this Blazed Castle, she will definitely co to

for fear that I will be in danger." Jason assured calmly.

"Then hasten, you do not want to anger Our Lord." The dark sorcerer warned Jason.

Estelle trembled, tears of betrayal and sha streaking down her cheeks. A choked sound escaped her lips without her control, calling the attention of both Jason and the dark sorcerer.

"Who’s there?!" The dark sorcerer snarled.

Before Estelle could think of anything, a hand ca over her lips while another grabbed her waist, and she was pulled away.

Estelle’s heart hamred within her chest as she was pulled into a dark room.

Estelle’s hand shakily moved to the dagger on her belt, taking hold of it and the mont the hand fell away from her lips,

Estelle whirled around, pulling out her dagger in a swift move and pressing it against the neck of her attacker.

The supposed attacker lifted both hands up in the air and Estelle’s eyes widened to be t with a familiar face.

"You were this fierce and you stayed rooted in spot, waiting to be caught? Do you even have the luxury for heartbreak at the mont, Lady Starron?" He asked in a blank tone.

"Dante?!" Estelle exclaid in shock.

Though Estelle had not set eyes on the young lord of Fort Scabbard for an entire decade, she still recognized him instantly.

"Shhh...be quiet, would you? There are dark sorcerers crawling everywhere." Dante hissed in annoyance.

"What... what are you doing here?" Estelle asked in a stutter.

"Get that away from

first...my predator does not take kindly to being threatened." Dante warned in a dark tone.

Estelle quickly took her dagger away, sheathing the blade before she glanced back up at Dante in bafflent.

Just as she was about to speak, Dante hushed her.

"There is no ti to waste, they will not stop until they find you...we should get out of Blazed Castle first." Dante said as he moved over to a large window that led out to the courtyard.

Dante pulled it open and leaped out, inspecting the surroundings for a mont before he turned back.

"Clear... co on out." Dante instructed, offering a hand.

Estelle moved over to the window and took Dante’s offered hand, getting out through the window before Dante closed it.

"I cannot take dragon form, so strange spell was cast in this vicinity."

"It will be hard not to get spotted, I cannot tell exactly how many of those sorcerers there are. I do not know how I got entangled in this but your father would have my head if I do not get you to safety."

"Off the top off my head, I will clear you a path in blood and might just lose my head in the process."

"This is your castle, if you have any ideas, now would be the ti to say it." Dante murmured to Estelle as he crouched low.

"Ideas?" Estelle asked uncertainly.

"Yes, Lady Starron. How did you plan on getting out on your own?" Dante asked, keeping his gaze watchful.

"I intended to have Jason fetch us a horse from the stables." Estelle revealed in a shaky tone.

"Well clearly, Jason had other plans...now cross him out of the picture and think again." Dante hissed urgently.
