Chapter 131: Silence (Ch.131)
Silence...eerie silence, with not a single sound reaching this far down into the dungeons or penetrating through the thick walls, all that reigned was just... silence.
The sound of her own breath now echoed in her ears, and Neveah could hear the thumps of her own heart beat, loud and clear in her ears.
It had not taken all that long for Neveah to get used to the silence, and soon, she drifted off to a restless sleep.
For how long she slept, Neveah did not know but her brief mont of peace was soon interrupted.
The sound of bolts unlocking broke the silence that had settled over the solitary cell in the dungeons of Dragon Keep.
Neveah was awakened by this sound and her eyes fluttered open as she lifted her head to the door where the final set of bolts were unlocked.
A groaning sound was made as the heavy tal door was pushed open and a ray of light seeped through, finally lighting up the cell that had been consud by darkness.
Neveah squinted slightly, her eyes had grown adjusted to the darkness after being locked up here for hours and the bright ray of light irritated her eyes.
It took a mont for Neveah’s eyes to readjust and she raised a single brow as a familiar silhouette stepped in, blocking off the light with his muscular fra.
"Veah..." narx began but Neveah cut him off.
"You trouble yourself to co down to the dungeons..."
"One would think it was about ti the chains were brought in...or perhaps the executioner? Do the dragons not know what an interrogation is about?" Neveah asked in a low voice, her tone was chilling cold and devoid of emotion.
narx frowned slightly at Neveah’s words, especially the word ’interrogation’. Here in the dragon’s keep, that was narx’s specialty and Neveah did not even know of it.
Yet, Neveah’s words were still so accurate as though she could see through him and tell just what tidings narx brought along with him.
"Veah..." narx tried again, a tinge of guilt in his tone.
"Neveah...My Lord." Neveah adjusted before narx could speak further.
Neveah did not need to say more for narx to understand the point behind her words,
Things had not been so great previously...but even from the semblance of peace achieved between them, things had now changed.
"My Liege wants you." narx finally said again after a mont of quiet.
"...He wants ...?" Neveah murmured in a bored tone, leaning her head back against the wall.
"Whatever does his ’wants’ have to do with ?" Neveah asked blankly, making no moves to rise to her feet.
"Neveah...you do not want to tread down this part, My Liege excused a challenge once...you shall end up dead if you intend to be stubborn." narx warned, his ever present scowl deepening.
narx’s threat sounded amusing to Neveah’s ears, after so many hours that she was allowed, Neveah had finally gotten her thoughts in order.
Now that her thoughts were in order, Neveah understood what she was to do now... what she should have been doing all along.
"The path I treaded ultimately led
here...so yes, My Lord. I do want to tread down this path. The chains...or you may take your leave and send your King to
himself."
"I am a werewolf, My Lord... I can sense the silver from miles away. You have already brought it, you should just go ahead and use it then." Neveah replied coldly.
The mont narx stepped in, Neveah knew he had brought along silver chains.
Neveah assud narx was ordered to escort her as the criminal she was made out to be, it was only that narx seed to have grown accustod to playing nice.
Yet, Neveah knew if narx did not plan to use the silver chains, he would never have brought it along and so she understood it well enough that even narx...doubted her.
Neveah would never be willing to believe that the dragons did not know of what effect silver had on werewolves.
Since Neveah already knew of the Dragon King’s intention, then it was only right she ensured he derived full satisfaction.
"If you comply with My Liege’s orders, I have no reason to use it." narx reasoned,
narx did not attempt to deny the presence of the silver chains, instead, another dragon stepped in behind him, the chains held in his hand.
"Lord Decaron...you are at least more honest and direct in your approach." Neveah comnded in approval before she reverted her gaze back to narx.
"I do not need your pity, neither do I need to be granted privileges by you. I have no intentions to comply...so do what you must." Neveah clarified directly.
A low growl rumbled out of narx and his gaze narrowed slightly before he turned and stord out of the cell.
Lord Decaron strode over to Neveah without saying a word, stopping a short distance away from her and staring down at her expectantly.
’It has been so long since we have last faced silver... the months spent in the Eclipse Hunt Pack before being brought here were days of bliss.’
’Do you suppose you can still handle the pain?’ Neveah’s wolf thought to her and Neveah smiled.
"I have known nothing but pain for seventeen years...a few months of bliss cannot rewrite my past." Neveah assured her wolf.
With that said, Neveah erected a mind block between herself and her wolf so at least one of them could be spared from the pain.
Neveah then rose up to her feet and stretched her hands to Lord Decaron.
The silver chain had three cuffs joined together by thick chains, two of the cuffs were for both her wrists... and the third would fit around her neck... chains truly fitting for a criminal.
The very mont the first of the silver cuffs made contact with Neveah’s flesh, a searing pain shot through her, accompanied by a sizzling sound as the silver burned through her skin.
This pain...it was all too familiar and the image of a certain green eyed wolf with a whip held in his hand, one she had hoped never to think upon again, ca to Neveah’s mind.
