Chapter 507: Chapter 507 An Ancient Book

He actually placed it on top of the stone table, and then, gently opened the cover.

Unexpectedly, after a thousand years, he discovered that the lid could still be used, and, moreover, it didn’t take too much effort to open.

It’s just that so rust spots directly fell off from it.

He clearly saw that a book was placed on top, and looking at the book’s appearance, it had completely yellowed, the paper must have beco very brittle by now.

“Don’t touch it yet.”

Lin Yi was just about to stretch out his hand to take the object, but upon hearing Ling’er’s reminder, he quickly withdrew his hand.

...

“Ah, did you think of sothing? Or is there sothing you need to explain under these circumstances?”

“What’s the matter? Is there a problem?”

“Right now, you can’t just touch it with your hands, and after so many years of oxidation, the paper has beco very brittle. A slight mishap could very likely cause the paper to crumble.”

“Oh, then do you have a way?”

“Don’t worry, I brought professional tools.”

Ling’er was quite professional. The tools she carried were originally for picking dicinal herbs because sotis these herbs are truly precious and even a slight mishap could potentially destroy them.

She took out a pair of specially made gloves, which were completely snow-white, with only two raised areas at the base seemingly apparent.

Lin Yi naturally didn’t know what these were used for, but since they were brought here, they must have a special purpose.

He put the gloves on his hands, then gently took the object out of the box.

The process was like handling a rare treasure, being extrely careful and not containing a single flaw.

Lin Yi did not dare to make a move throughout the entire process, having little understanding of these items himself. If he were to cause the book to be ruined due to reckless behavior, he would indeed regret it later on.

Finally, after placing it on the table, he let out a long sigh of relief.

At last, he had taken it out, believing that the information recorded within must contain so crucial clues.

Ling’er’s movents were careful, using her special thods, she then directly turned to the first page.

Soon, so text beca visible, which was completely different from the characters carved into the stone sarcophagus.

Though so characters were hard to discern, she could generally make out their aning.

“This is a record about this cave.”

“What? Can you understand what it says?”

To Lin Yi, these all looked like special symbols, and he had no way to identify them clearly.

“I can make out so of it because I’ve encountered so ancient manuscripts that ca from the Outer Regions before, so I’m sowhat familiar with the text, which luckily matches this one.”

“Then what about the text on the sarcophagus and on that placard? Didn’t you say you couldn’t recognize it before?”

“Those are entirely different scripts; I’ve never seen them before. But the font used in this book was prevalent during that period, and when recording dicinal herbs, they primarily used this script, so I can distinguish it.”

“Alright then, what does it say?”

“It says that they discovered a special environnt in this cave previously, describing it as extrely damp, suggesting that these conditions are suitable for cultivating so dicinal herbs.”

“So, he used this place as a sort of backyard garden, specializing in cultivating these materials.”

“Don’t rush ; let try to grasp the contents of this book. There isn’t much, so I’ll carefully read through it once more and then tell you what it ans.”

“Alright alright, no hurry, take your ti. After all, we’re trapped here, but for now, this environnt is very safe. Maybe you’ll find so clues in these ancient tos that could help us get out of here. I’ll patiently wait here while you continue looking around.”

With that, Ling’er just nodded and then sat down on the stone chair, starting to read carefully.

When he first took it out, Lin Yi had already noticed that the book wasn’t very thick—approximately twenty pages or so.

If she reads it word by word, it will certainly take so ti; after all, it’s not modern writing, so Ling’er couldn’t readily discern it.

Taking advantage of this, Lin Yi began to approach the stone sarcophagus to carefully inspect it.

He felt that these ancients were truly full of wisdom, and he wondered how they entered here and how the lid was sealed again afterwards?

Presumably, so people ca after to tend to these tasks?

In the past, he had never encountered such a place, and it was so mysterious that ordinary people had never co here.

After walking around the area for a while, Lin Yi found nothing in the end, so he headed towards the wall.

He realised that the entire room must have been specially decorated, with special symbols and patterns added to the stone walls.

He looked closely, feeling that the paintings on it were not baseless, and that the depicted subjects must all be special.

Finally, after studying it for a while, he understood that it was a drawing of a dicinal herb, illustrating the entire growth process from planting to full growth.

Although he couldn’t understand the text, he could clearly discern these drawings.

After so many years of sedintation, he found that the paintings were still incredibly clear.

Yet, it didn’t seem like they were etched with anything, but rather painted with so special pignts.
