Chapter 471: Chapter 471 Found Footprints
“We’ll wait a bit and then follow this path,” Lin Yi said as they prepared to move on. “And look, considering his size, if he walked through here, maybe we could find so traces. Look here, could this be it?”
Just then, the hunter seed to suddenly discover sothing and quickly bent down to speak with them.
Following the hunter’s pointing finger, Lin Yi looked over and indeed, there was a very distinct footprint at the spot.
He carefully recalled the hooves of the prey they had just been pursuing and concluded that they appeared roughly the sa.
“Yes, almost certainly, these must be his tracks.”
“Then, it’s likely they were left yesterday evening. With the wind and sandy soil here, in half a day’s ti everything would be covered up. Afterward, searching for these traces will truly beco much more difficult.”
“Alright, we shouldn’t waste any more ti here. The longer we delay, the more troubleso our task will beco.”
While speaking, Lin Yi turned to look back, where Ling’er and Hei Lang were fully equipped and had packed up all their gear, ready to go.
“Co over.”
Lin Yi waved them over, and the two ran towards him.
“Ling’er, check this out. Are these the footprints we’re looking for?”
Ling’er bent down to carefully examine them, then nodded.
“Look, the direction of the footprints is coming this way, so we just need to go in the opposite direction. I believe that should lead us to where its den is located.”
“But if there really are a lot of these so-called ‘monkey-faced pigs’ in the den, will they hurt us?”
“I’ve already told you, as long as we don’t show too much hostility, they definitely won’t attack us. We just need to proceed with caution and there should be no problem.”
After finishing these words, everyone simply nodded in agreent, and then they followed Lin Yi’s lead, walking step by step towards their destination.
Passing through that area, it seed that the path ahead had beco much wider.
They hadn’t found this route yesterday. If they had, it appeared they might have elected to continue their search here.
Now, it was Hei Lang’s turn to take the lead. Not only was he carrying a large package, but he was also dragging a big object with a rope.
Every few steps, Hei Lang would turn to look behind, as if worried that the thing being dragged would suddenly wake up and attack him.
However, he was reassured by the knowledge that the dicinal effect was potent—usually, it was quite reliable.
They continued forward for an unknown duration when suddenly, Hei Lang felt sothing wasn’t right. The object he had been dragging effortlessly now seed to struggle against the rope.
Thinking it had caught on sothing, he turned back for a look and to his surprise, the prey had suddenly sat up and was glaring at him ominously.
“Not good, it’s awake! Everybody, hide!”
He shouted loudly and quickly let go of the rope in his hands.
It was only then that the others realized what was happening and turned to look back.
The prey eyeballed them for a few monts before turning and running toward a different corner of the forest.
“Quick, let’s chase it down! The direction it ran off to must lead to its den!” the hunter shouted, prompting the group to sprint behind him.
Keep in mind, humans have just two legs, whereas that beast had four to run with on the ground.
Before long, the creature had vanished into a small grove, as if swallowed up by the forest.
Once they reached the grove, they could no longer distinguish any sign of its presence, and everyone stood there gasping for air.
Firstly, to observe their surroundings and determine the direction, and secondly, to recover from the physical exertion.
“Where, where did it go?”
“It must have gone inside. I’ve read so docunts before; it likes to live deep within the jungle, so I reckon we might find so traces of it here.”
“If we go by its habits, is there a chance we’ll encounter other dangers near its den?”
“That’s hard to say. The books previously didn’t have much recorded on this matter, after all, there have been very few who have ever seen it.”
“No more idle talk, now that we’re already here, even if there’s a mountain of blades or a sea of flas ahead, we have to jump in even with our eyes closed. Let’s go; we’ll discuss further once inside.”
After all, Lin Yi had made up his mind, fortified by his Divine Skill and the support of the system.
With so many allies, including the dically knowledgeable Ling’er, he felt their group was the best combination available.
Glancing back at the others, it seed they raised no objections to his decision.
They embarked on their journey once more, advancing into the mysterious forest ahead.
A few steps in, Lin Yi sensed an eerie silence enveloping the environnt.
It was so quiet that even the sound of insects was absent; Lin Yi couldn’t hear any, heightening his tension.
He looked back very carefully at the hunter and saw the man’s hands clenched tightly around his hunting rifle, a clear sign that his feelings were similar to Lin Yi’s own.
“What’s going on?”
I’m not sure, but there’s one thing I know; a tranquil surface of a lake is often deceptive of the dangerous currents beneath.
“So you an to say, within this forest, there might be so hidden dangers?”
“I don’t know for certain, but haven’t you noticed? Ever since we entered the mountain, we’ve never encountered such a quiet environnt.”
“Yes, it’s eerily quiet here. It’s so silent that even our breathing seems loud and clear.”
“What could be in here?”
At that point, even the hunter seed to grow apprehensive.
