Obtaining 10x rewards! Reincarnated into a novel as a side-character! Chapter 312: Meeting Exorcists?
Chapter 312
He knew well enough himself that a baron-rank demon was a true noble and not sothing he could toy around with.
A demonic baron required at least a Rank-4 exorcist and multiple teams to be exorcised. He was not confident he could face such an entity alone if confronted.
Not to ntion, he would be supported by the other households too.
He had to do sothing quick.
Either find out their plans or just do anything to ss up everything.
"Bring those damn humans!" The bulky demon barked out a command and left upstairs, likely towards his room.
’Humans?’ Oliver raised a brow, a bit confused.
’Do they keep human slaves too?’ He had an inkling of what the situation would lead to.
And his suspicions were correct as he heard a servant speak.
"The lord needs to blow off steam. Get those humans, clean them up, and make sure they are chained properly."
The other servants hurried to comply.
Oliver expressionlessly glanced at the door they used and followed quietly inside.
It turned out that there were stairs leading down to the basent.
’An underground prison cell?’
He saw a few dirty prison cells. The iron bars were slowly rusting off, the air was damp and slled disgusting, as if no one had bothered to clean them in decades.
It was unhygienic and slled like feces. He knew it was definitely not safe to be in such an environnt.
Oliver didn’t do anything and silently kept observing those demonic servants as they keyed in the lock of a particular cell.
Inside the cell were a few humans, all of them wearing fearful expressions.
The majority of them were won.
’Hmm...?’ He frowned as he sensed espera from their bodies.
He knew instinctively.
’They are exorcists!’
His eyes widened slightly, not expecting to et actual exorcists in such a place.
From the looks of it, they were captured alive, unfortunately.
’Which clan do they belong to?’ He wondered, observing their fearful gazes as the demon servants closed in on them.
’I doubt they co from any major clans.’
He rembered how strong-willed the exorcists from the top five clans were, and looking at them, he felt that they were not from any of them.
Of course, he could be wrong too, but the chances were low.
"Hmm, get that one."
The head of the servants pointed at a woman in the corner, whose already pale face seed to turn even paler.
Oliver noticed how effortlessly she was taken, without an ounce of resistance from her end. It looked as if this was not the first ti sothing like this had happened.
As for using espera to fight back?
It was extrely difficult. Firstly, they were in the demon territories, where dark espera was overpowering, heavily suppressing humans who used espera. If that were not enough alone, he also noticed the shackles on their wrists.
He had to be an idiot to not recognize these infamous espera-canceling cuffs from the novel.
The others could only watch this helplessly, seeing another of their companions gone.
He didn’t say anything and moved behind the servants like a shadow.
He observed the whole process—how the servants bathed her clean, dressed her into presentable, thin, translucent clothes.
He could guess what was going to happen next.
The woman was taken to the lord’s room.
At this point, he hesitated slightly. Entering the room of a strong demon, he was not entirely confident.
He could vividly rember the scene at the abandoned temple when Sera had co almost face-to-face with him.
And this demon was likely way stronger. Getting too close to this one was extrely dangerous.
’But...’
He knew he had to do sothing.
Now, it was not that he was a hero of justice or anything; his thought process worked differently.
’It would be too big of a waste.’
He shook his head. He knew that this was a massive opportunity to reap so sort of benefits, and his intuition told him that the mont was right.
’Ah, maybe I should test that right now.’
He rembered sothing and smiled subtly.
The Abyss energy around him intensified, at least three tis as potent as before.
He looked at the creaking furniture and knew he had to put it under control before he accidentally destroyed sothing nearby, alerting the demons.
’Damn, this is hard.’
He gritted his teeth, controlling the flow of energy. Unlike espera, Abyss energy was extrely difficult to control.
His reserves were also being depleted constantly as he road this place in hiding.
Fortunately, ever since consuming the fragnt of the Demon King’s soul, he had received a significant boost in his energy reserves. His Abyss energy was able to keep up with his activities this ti without exhausting him on the spot.
Albeit with so difficulty, he managed to sowhat tone it down and slipped into the lord’s room.
He saw the woman lying on the bed, her eyes closed. She was under so sort of sleeping spell.
And just so distance away was the bulky demon—the master of the mansion, one of the four household heads of the city.
He was drinking wine while reading sothing. There were a few papers scattered on the table before him.
"Tch, that Veythar bastard has been eyeing us for too long. He even knew of these channels."
The demon clicked his tongue as he lanted how deep they had looked into things.
They even knew of matters that he thought he had concealed carefully.
It was obvious they were interested in sweeping more than necessary to damage them and weaken their authority in the long run.
"Damn it!"
The burly demon threw the paper back onto the table and looked at the unconscious human woman on the bed.
A sickening grin plastered itself on his face as he gulped the last sip of wine and spat at the papers.
Oliver was inside the room, standing and observing from a distance.
’Veythar House... what are the odds.’ He felt strange, considering he had recently associated with soone from there.
He hadn’t placed much importance on that eting or the contact she offered.
But now it seed to him that he must acquire the device and get in touch with her as soon as possible.
She might prove very useful in the future.
