Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Designer J

The agent never dared to complain about her with words like “just make do” again, but it beca difficult to hear those words from her mouth again.

Jiang Zhe asked, “Didn’t you say you had sothing else?”

“Yes, there’s sothing else,” Xu Jin said. “For this album cover, we’ve selected several sets of clothes, but I still feel sowhat dissatisfied. Can you take a look for ?”

“Show ,” Jiang Zhe said.

Xu Jin had the assistant bring over the clothes.

Xu Jin and Jiang Zhe had been friends for several years now. The fact that Jiang Zhe was a famous clothing designer was known to no one, except for Xu Jin and the two most capable people around her, the agent and the assistant.

Xu Jin ca to know Jiang Zhe’s identity by a lucky coincidence.

The costus for the character that made Xu Jin famous were ostensibly provided by the Jiang Family, but in reality, they were all personally designed and handcrafted by Jiang Zhe.

Originally, Jiang Zhe wasn’t supposed to go to the set. As the renowned clothing designer J, she only needed an artist’s asurents and the character’s personality to produce solid designs and works.

Who would have thought that Liang Jinlan insisted on taking Jiang Fanyue to the film crew for networking, and just then, another male character’s costus kept having issues. Jiang Zhe’s email was filled with problems caused by that one person, prompting her to decide to go see what was actually happening.

Initially, Liang Jinlan flatly refused to let Jiang Zhe join them at the set. However, too lazy to argue with her, she let Jiang Zhe co along but put her in the props departnt, ordering her to stay there without wandering off or eting the director and actors.

The props departnt was close to the costu departnt, and Jiang Zhe had no interest in what was going on outside anyway. She only wanted to check the costus and leave, so she didn’t mind.

When Jiang Zhe first arrived at the set, nobody paid any attention to her, a girl just over ten years old.

She stayed with the props departnt, unnoticed by anyone, while Liang Jinlan was busy socializing with Jiang Fanyue.

During lunch and dinner, the crew was too busy to pay Jiang Zhe any mind, neither asking if she wanted to eat nor if she needed water.

In the evening, Jiang Zhe, who was in the costu departnt looking at clothes, was accidentally locked in by staff leaving for the day.

Liang Jinlan and Jiang Fanyue had completely forgotten about her and left by car.

Jiang Zhe, alone in the deserted costu departnt, didn’t find it too hard to bear.

She had a habit of keeping so bread and mineral water in her backpack, so eating and drinking weren’t an issue.

However, the costu departnt was located in a warehouse, and soone had turned off the mains outside, cutting power to the air conditioning and preventing air from circulating. Jiang Zhe woke up in the middle of the night feeling suffocated and extrely uncomfortable.

That day, Xu Jin had a scene at five o’clock in the morning. He liked to prepare in advance, so he arrived at the costu departnt after two to find a quiet place to review the script and also to get his costu. Upon opening the warehouse door, he ca face-to-face with Jiang Zhe.

Xu Jin didn’t ask much, smiling as he handed over his assistant-prepared breakfast—an ear of corn and an egg—to Jiang Zhe. He also had a female assistant co over to ask Jiang Zhe what difficulties she had encountered, where her family was, and to help her call ho.

Jiang Zhe refused, and noticed that his costu was slightly ill-fitting.

How could the costus she designed and made by hand not fit properly?

Jiang Zhe saw the problem imdiately: the reported asurents for him and another male actor were incorrect.

His had been recorded shorter and plumper, and the other male actor’s taller and larger.

That’s why the other male actor’s costus constantly ca back for Jiang Zhe to adjust, but no one ntioned altering Xu Jin’s—understandable considering he was a minor figure in the industry. As long as his clothes were passable, no one demanded a perfect fit.

It wasn’t hard to imagine that misreporting the sizes was done on purpose by soone.

With a professional designer’s eye, Jiang Zhe could see Xu Jin’s physique was of a perfect golden ratio, so it wasn’t strange if others were jealous and tried to sabotage him.

With Xu Jin’s shoot approaching, Jiang Zhe didn’t have ti to return and alter his clothes, so she took a needle and thread and altered them on the spot.

The agent and the assistant didn’t manage to stop her in ti, and Jiang Zhe finished altering Xu Jin’s costu.

The altered size fit him exceptionally well.

Naturally, Jiang Zhe went ahead and altered all of Xu Jin’s subsequent costus in one go.

The altered costu suited Xu Jin excellently, complenting his image just right.

If Xu Jin’s rise to fa depended on this role, and the whole drama was sponsored and supplied with clothes by the Jiang Family, then Jiang Zhe was undoubtedly the biggest contributor to its success.

Thereafter, Xu Jin would wear Jiang Family’s clothes several tis a year, not as a gesture of reciprocation to the Jiang Family, but solely because he rembered and valued Jiang Zhe’s help.

For important occasions, Xu Jin would also seek Jiang Zhe’s advice on outfit combinations.

Like for this album cover.

The assistant wheeled over a whole rack of clothes, and Jiang Zhe picked one up for a quick look.

This ti, Xu Jin’s album style was youthful, with the clothing mostly consisting of simple light colors.

Xu Jin always felt it wasn’t eye-catching enough.

He changed into a white T-shirt and shorts that everyone thought looked good, but it seed a bit plain, as if missing sothing.

“How about adding a tie?” Jiang Zhe casually grabbed two ties, one red and one green, quickly unravelled them, and combined them into one, draping it around Xu Jin’s neck.

Tall Xu Jin was accustod to letting her manage the styling, he slightly bowed his head and bent down, allowing her to make the adjustnts.

Jiang Zhe effortlessly tied the tie for him.

The sowhat bland outfit was quickly infused with a different vibe.

The excessively goody-two-shoes style, with the addition of the contrasting tie, seed like adding passion and conflict to youthfulness.

It matched the style of his songs very well.

The manager slapped his forehead, “How did we not think of that?”

Jiang Zhe withdrew her hands, “The observer sees clearer than the player.”

The assistant handed over a phone to Jiang Zhe, “Look, I just took a photo of you two. Doesn’t it have a great vibe?”

In the photo, Xu Jin had his gaze lowered, while Jiang Zhe had one hand on his shoulder and the other was adjusting the tie.

The background was filled with colorful halos.

“Not bad,” said Jiang Zhe.

“Why don’t we use this photo as the cover?” The manager loved the photo, which unintentionally captured a unique style.

“Whatever,” Jiang Zhe was indifferent.

Xu Jin spoke softly, “Send

the photo.”

The assistant sent it over.

Jiang Zhe had been sitting for a long ti and stretched her limbs, “I’m going to the restroom.”

Restroom.

Jiang Fanyue had been in the eting room for a long ti, already visiting twice.

Xu Jin avoided seeing her, and there was little she could do about it, sitting across from Liang Jinlan, feeling quite pressured.

Sitting on the toilet, she was clueless about what else she could do.

The door opened, and two people ca in, chatting casually as they entered.

Jiang Fanyue heard they were two young girls talking about work.
