Chapter 17: Chapter 17: What’s the Difference Between Her and the Qin Family’s Matriarch?

Although the frequency of her waking nightmares had evidently decreased, Xiao ng still harbored feelings of guilt.

“I’m sorry,” Xiao ng murmured softly.

Xia Enci waved her hand dismissively, “It’s nothing. But what’s causing this? Do you think you should see a doctor?”

“I’ve already contacted the doctor,” Jiang Zhe interjected from the side.

Xiao ng’s anxiety was alleviated.

“That’s good, it’s also for your own benefit,” Xia Enci nodded in agreent.

In the afternoon, Jiang Zhe received a WeChat ssage.

She glanced at it, seeing that it was sent by Qin Jingchen.

“Are you free tonight? I’ll pick you up for dinner. My cousin insists I help her express her gratitude towards you.”

Considering she indeed had things to do outside, Jiang Zhe agreed, “Okay.”

Qin Jingchen, sitting beside Qin Feng, said, “I’ve got a date.”

Qin Feng stroked her belly, “I’m still trying to stabilize my pregnancy, so I won’t go personally. Make sure you thank her properly on my behalf.”

“Don’t worry.”

As Qin Feng listened to the sound of his Buddha beads, she seed to perceive a faint smile on his face.

Tang Jianxi walked in and, spotting Qin Jingchen, suppressed the joy in her heart, “Lord Qin.”

Qin Jingchen gave a polite nod as a greeting and then stood up to leave.

“Jianxi, you’ve also been a great help these past few days,” Qin Feng said, looking radiant and rosy-cheeked.

It had been a long ti since she had looked this healthy, after her husband’s death and the discovery of her pregnancy.

“Don’t speak like that, I’m also a distant relative of the Tang Family, and naturally, I should do my best for your child. Besides, there’s the matter of our particular relation.”

Qin Feng gently touched her belly, “My child must be born.”

“Rember to take the dicine Jiang Zhe left for you,” Tang Jianxi handed over the dicine to her.

The dication she had taken from the JZ Pharmaceutical Research Institute wasn’t used on Qin Feng before it was found out by the staff, and they confiscated it directly.

Not only that, but she also received an official warning. This was only because she returned all the dication without using any of it, preventing any irreversible consequences.

However, she had kept back a little foresight, noting down the formula and preparing the dication herself for Qin Feng.

Having analyzed its components, she knew her drug was essentially no different in composition from what Jiang Zhe had left behind.

In other words, last ti Jiang Zhe had simply been exaggerating to disparage her dication and elevate her own status.

After taking the dication Tang Jianxi gave her for two consecutive days, Qin Feng hadn’t experienced any more problems.

Without suspicion, Qin Feng took the dicine and swallowed it.

After school, Xia Enci leaned on Jiang Zhe’s desk, “Let’s go, ti to eat.”

“I’m not going, I have sothing to take care of. Please excuse

from evening self-study with Ms. Luo, I won’t be attending,” Jiang Zhe said.

“Sure,” replied Xia Enci nonchalantly, as requesting leave for the evening self-study in the unnad class was quite common.

Xiao ng was already accustod to this. Jiang Zhe had always been mysterious, often acting independently from the rest.

Jiang Zhe grabbed her backpack and left, chewing gum in her mouth. Just as she stood still at the door, a Lincoln car silently glided to her side.

The window rolled down, and Qin Jingchen’s stunning features cut through the dusk’s dimness, shattering the space-ti continuum and casting a spray of light onto the darkness behind her figure.

Jiang Zhe was montarily dazzled.

Appropriately, the effect was mutual when she appeared within Qin Jingchen’s line of sight.

Fen Ye sat in the passenger seat and was montarily blinded by the two dazzling figures as he turned back.

“Tsk, this is the first ti he felt that Qin Jingchen was like a crafty fox.”

“What would you like to eat?” Qin Jingchen asked.

“Anything is fine.” Jiang Zhe casually took out a pack of chewing gum, poured out two pieces nonchalantly, and threw them into his mouth.

Qin Jingchen then instructed Fen Ye to find a popular restaurant suitable for general tastes.

He waited for a mont, but Jiang Zhe didn’t offer the pack to him.

Realizing he was actually anticipating a piece of chewing gum, he found it amusing and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips, even causing a brief pause in the turning of his Buddha Beads.

From the rearview mirror, Fen Ye saw his expression and was astounded. What was going on? Was just Jiang Zhe’s presence enough to cause such a strong emotional response from brother Jingchen?

The dining location was set at a Chinese restaurant. When they were seated, Fen Ye picked up the kettle to pour water and asked, “Do you have any dietary restrictions?”

“None.” Jiang Zhe sat down casually.

Qin Jingchen took the kettle from Fen Ye’s hand: “You order first.”

He personally poured the water and passed it to Jiang Zhe, “My cousin has been recovering well recently. The baby is doing fine.”

“That’s good.” Jiang Zhe replied as though he had expected as much, not even blinking an extra ti.

“Take this card,” Qin Jingchen handed over a card.

Black with gold trim, shiny yet understated, Jiang Zhe noticed at once that it was a Qin Family’s limited edition custom card.

Fen Ye interrupted his ordering to glance at this card and was surprised; having this card ant unfettered access to all the properties owned by the Qin and Tang families. Any expenses incurred at such facilities would face no obstacle.

And the Qin and Tang families owned the most nurous and comprehensive high-end clubs, hotels, estates, vineyards, racecourses, and golf courses in the Dragon Emperor Country and even globally—anything you can and cannot think of, they have it all.

Fen Ye had wondered who would be worthy of such treatnt when Qin Jingchen specifically tasked him to custom-make this card. It turned out it was ant for Jiang Zhe!

Qin Jingchen’s gesture went beyond the usual treatnt for mbers of the Qin family. After all, aside from Qin Jingchen, no other family mber would have access to all these places.

With this card, what was the difference between its holder and the lady of the Qin household?

Jiang Zhe’s eyebrows slightly raised, “I don’t accept gifts.”

“My cousin is just over a hundred days into her pregnancy; there will be plenty more we’ll need your help with. Jiang Zhe, consider it an advance deposit, how about that?”

Fen Ye’s mouth hung open… This card was only a deposit?

Even accustod to Qin Jingchen’s generosity, Fen Ye had never seen anything on this scale.

“The fee for a consultation wouldn’t be this expensive,” said Jiang Zhe, telling the truth.

Her rates were high, but not higher than what Qin Jingchen was offering this ti.

“It’s not expensive. Especially not for

this ti.”

Jiang Zhe looked up into his eyes, “Is it that important this ti?”

“More important than you think.” He slightly curled his lips, the mole under his eye twinkling with a hint of charm.

Jiang Zhe didn’t speak, seemingly in contemplation.

Qin Jingchen’s clearly defined fingers tapped on the card, speaking in an unhurried tone, “Initially, I thought if I were no longer with the Qin family, my cousin and her child would provide Grandma so consolation.”

Jiang Zhe glanced at the Buddha Beads in his hand and understood what he ant by ‘no longer with the Qin family.’

But she questioned about one word: “Initially?”

“Yes, initially. Because that was just my past thought.” Qin Jingchen released his fingers, sat up straight leisurely, with the beads emitting a faint sound.

Initially.

aning he no longer thought that way now.

Jiang Zhe took the card and slipped it into her bag, “Fine.”
