Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Just Spend the Money to Ward off Misfortune

The reply ca quickly, “What? There’s actually such a matter? I’ll have soone look into it imdiately!”

“Retract it within half an hour.”

“Roger that! If I can’t get the dicine within half an hour, I’ll present my head to you.”

“What use do I have for your head?” Jiang Zhe scorned.

When Qin Jingchen returned, he saw her just as she put away her phone.

“I’ve prepared sothing for you to eat.”

His subordinate had just reported to him, bringing the food prepared for Jiang Zhe.

She had eaten little for dinner, and she had just expended energy for so long.

The al was complete with steak, vegetables, fruits, and milk.

Jiang Zhe glanced indifferently, “Not hungry.”

“I’ll have soone prepare it again.”

Jiang Zhe pulled out a bottle and tipped out so chewing gum, “I’ll have this.”

After popping two pieces in her mouth, she noticed there wasn’t much left in the bottle and slightly furrowed her brows.

Qin Jingchen had observed that she frequently chewed gum, as if her teeth couldn’t stop moving for a mont.

He was about to speak when the girl across handed the bottle to him, “Have one.”

The subordinate by his side was about to intervene, a habitual action and part of his duties.

But Qin Jingchen had already taken the bottle ahead of him.

The subordinate was surprised, “I’m sorry, Mr. Qin, I was slow. Please punish .”

Qin Jingchen chuckled lightly, the tear mole under his eye more bewitchingly prominent as he nonchalantly took out a piece and put it in his mouth.

“Punish you for what? Go back to your duties,” Qin Jingchen said kindly.

The subordinate sighed in relief. What was happening? His lips twitched; had Mr. Qin really taken the gum?

“Let’s go,” Jiang Zhe said, after taking back the bottle of gum and flashing a rare quickly-vanishing smile, as she strode towards the exit.

Qin Jingchen still caught the subtle shift in her expression, keeping pace with her.

Downstairs, Liang Jinlan was sitting in the car waiting.

Jiang Fanyue felt a bit under the weather today, and Gu Jiaheng, valuing her greatly, personally drove her to get dicine from the best private hospital in Jincheng.

This honor brought glory to the entire Jiang Family.

Liang Jinlan wanted to give them more ti together, so she didn’t go in with them.

She was showing off to her friend when she spotted Jiang Zhe walking out of the doorway with her backpack.

Why was Jiang Zhe here again?

Liang Jinlan furrowed her brow in displeasure. She most likely found out from Jiang Yunxuan that Gu Jiaheng was in the hospital and specifically ca to ‘coincidentally’ bump into him.

“Jiang Zhe!” Liang Jinlan, suppressing her anger, approached Jiang Zhe.

Jiang Zhe, chewing her gum, had an expressionless face. As Liang Jinlan locked eyes with her, she felt a chill from those almost bewitching eyes.

Liang Jinlan asked with distaste, “What are you doing here?”

“Does it concern you?” Jiang Zhe continued to chew her gum, her tone extrely indifferent.

“I know why you’re here. Jiaheng is accompanying Fanyue to the hospital. He’s extrely thoughtful of Fanyue, unwilling to let her suffer even a slight cold, and has specially sought an expert for treatnt here. He would never take a liking to anyone else. You might as well give up on that idea.”

Seeing that Jiang Zhe didn’t respond, Liang Jinlan thought she had seen through her intentions.

She took out a al card from her bag, “Fanyue is staying with the Jiang Family; I know you feel aggrieved. Here’s the al card for Ash Street Middle School. I’ve charged it with ten thousand. I keep my word and won’t shortchange you.”

Liang Jinlan thought of it as paying to avert disaster.

Jiang Zhe didn’t reach out, rely glancing at the al card, her gaze cold and indifferent.

Liang Jinlan knew she wasn’t pleased; staying with the Jiang Family brought too many benefits in terms of food, clothing, and other necessities.

She said, “I’ll find soone to send over the piano you left at the Jiang Family’s house another day, and I’ll give you twenty thousand in cash as well.”

“Chop it up.”

“What?”

Jiang Zhe repeated, “I an the piano.”

“You!” Liang Jinlan’s face turned ugly.

This was a piano she had specifically bought for Jiang Zhe and Jiang Fanyue. Although the one for Jiang Zhe was bought sowhat reluctantly and was far less valuable than the one for Jiang Fanyue, it was still sothing she had spent money on.

Jiang Zhe ignored her and saw a Lincoln approaching.

The car window rolled down, and it was Qin Jingchen who was driving.

He got out of the car and ca over to Jiang Zhe’s side.

The man’s deanor was gentle, yet his presence was oppressively tangible. Liang Jinlan had gotten a taste of it once before, and facing Qin Jingchen again, it was hard not to feel a sense of fear.

He was still driving a Lincoln? Since when did Jiang Zhe make friends like this?

“Let’s go,” Jiang Zhe said calmly.

Qin Jingchen opened the car door.

“Miss Jiang!” Soone hurried over, hands full of various gifts.

He quickly reached Jiang Zhe and said earnestly, “I’m here on behalf of the Tang Family. Please, Miss Jiang, you must accept these items.”

Qin Feng had saved the child, which was also a fortunate event for the Tang Family. As soon as the people from the Tang Family upstairs confird the news, they imdiately arranged to send generous gifts.

The arrangents were hasty, and so gifts were not even fully packaged. Judging by the logos on the bags, there were luxury watches, designer bags, and rare tonics—all sorts of expensive items.

By estimation, the value was at least over a million.

“It was no trouble at all,” Jiang Zhe said, with no intention of accepting.

“If Miss Jiang refuses to accept, I really won’t be able to explain when I return,” the man insisted firmly.

Jiang Zhe glanced at Qin Jingchen. “You handle it.”

Qin Jingchen smiled indulgently and told the man, “Take them back.”

The gift bearer dared not contradict Qin Jingchen’s wishes, puzzled at heart. Since when had Mr. Qin beco so amiable?

After the gift issue was dealt with, Jiang Zhe got into the Lincoln.

Qin Jingchen personally drove the limited-edition Lincoln, which quickly disappeared into the night.

Liang Jinlan’s mouth hung open, failing to close it. Was the Tang Family they just ntioned the illustrious one in Jincheng, the sa Tang Family that even the Gu Family would show deference to?

But how could that be possible? Even the Gu Family didn’t have the chance to visit them often. Why would they pay such respect to Jiang Zhe?

She thought it over. Both Tang and Jiang were prominent surnas in Jincheng; it was likely to be a coincidence, you couldn’t conclude anything from a surna alone.

And those gifts, who knew if they were real?

In the car, Jiang Zhe, after getting in, kept fiddling with her phone, showing no inclination to chat.

Qin Jingchen, who rarely drove himself, maneuvered the vehicle with great smoothness.

During a red light pause, he spoke up, “Sorry about tonight, I’ll invite you for a al another ti.”

“No need,” Jiang Zhe’s attention remained on her phone.

She had just received a reply from soone on the other side, informing her that the drugs leaked from the JZ Pharmaceutical Research Institute had been found.

“OK. It’s taken care of.”

From Qin Jingchen’s perspective, only the faint glow of the phone flickered on her face.

Upon reaching the Jiang Family’s ho, Jiang Zhe got out of the car, carrying her bag, and gestured a goodbye wave before striding ahead with her long legs.

The car’s headlights were bright, illuminating the pathway to her ho.

Qin Jingchen remained seated in the car, watching her retreating figure that never looked back, until she completely disappeared, and he still hadn’t taken his eyes off her.

The phone rang, and Qin Jingchen answered, “Brother Jingchen, Feng’s child is safe, and Grandmother Qin is in a good mood after waking up. I arrived late, but I heard it was Miss Jiang who helped Feng save the child?”
