Jian Wei was the first to speak, flopping onto a bar stool with a yawn. "Is this your apology for being a pain in the ass last night?" he asked, reaching for a slice of golden pear. Smack!

Jian Ci slapped his hand away without even looking. "This is not for you."

Jian Rui leaned over the pot, peering into the glowing porridge. "This is too much. Yu Xi won’t be able to finish all of it."

"He will eat what he can," Jian Ci said, plating the olet with care. "Then you can have whatever’s left. After."

Jian Wei raised a brow. "I am starting to think you love Yu Xi more than the both of us combined."

Jian Rui didn’t even look up. "You are just figuring that out now?"

Jian Ci rolled his eyes. "I am going to wake him up. Don’t eat anything."

"I won’t," Jian Wei said innocently, but the grin on his face said otherwise.

Jian Ci climbed the stairs and tapped the panel. The door to Yu Xi’s room opened.

Yu Xi was awake, standing at the mirror, tying his hair into a loose knot. He wore a soft black turtleneck, sleeves pushed up to his elbows. On the bed, Xiaobao sat cross-legged, a floating screen in front of her, flipping through images with the enthusiasm of a matchmaker on a mission.

"Just look at them," she said, holding up the screen. "They are very handso. You can’t keep doing this forever."

Jian Ci stepped inside. "Who is handso?"

Xiaobao didn’t even look up. "Still doesn’t knock before walking in," she muttered, swiping to the next photo.

Yu Xi caught Jian Ci’s reflection in the mirror and smiled faintly. "Morning."

Jian Ci’s eyes flicked to the turtleneck, then back to Yu Xi’s face.

Xiaobao crossed her arms looking at him. She didn’t say anything at first, just closed the floating screen, her expression unreadable.

Then she stood up, brushing imaginary dust from her skirt. "Jian Ci," she said, her voice even, "you look better today."

She glanced at Yu Xi, then walked out without another word.

The door slid shut behind her. Jian Ci exhaled slowly. "She is not in a good mood."

Yu Xi, still tying his hair at the mirror, gave a small nod. "It’s one of those days."

Jian Ci’s gaze lingered on him. A single strand of hair had slipped free, curling across Yu Xi’s forehead. Without thinking, Jian Ci stepped forward and gently tucked it behind his ear, fingers brushing warm skin.

Yu Xi stilled. His lips parted slightly, and he bit the lower one, just for a second, eyes flicking up to et Jian Ci’s.

It was always strange the morning after. The way Jian Ci looked at him like nothing had happened, like he hadn’t clung to him in the dark hours of the night, thrusting endlessly. Like he hadn’t whispered Yu Xi’s na with a desperation that made the world tilt. And now... now he didn’t rember any of it.

Yu Xi turned away, slipping his communicator onto his wrist. "She was showing the guys she likes."

Jian Ci raised a brow. "Makes sense. Who is her crush?"

Yu Xi hesitated. The truth hovered on the edge of his tongue, that Xiaobao had been trying, once again, to set him up with soone else. An esper strong enough to match him. Soone who wasn’t Jian Ci. She did it so often that Yu Xi was used to it.

"It’s a secret," he said instead.

Jian Ci blinked. "Wow. You have secrets now? Didn’t we agree we would tell each other everything?"

Yu Xi smirked faintly, already walking toward the door. "When did I agree to that?"

The door slid open, and he stepped out.

Jian Ci smiled, his tiger tooth peeking out as he caught up to Yu Xi on the stairs. "Are you gaslighting ?"

Yu Xi didn’t miss a beat. "No, I wouldn’t dare."

They descended together, the morning light spilling across the stairwell. Yu Xi glanced sideways. "You look good in pink."

Jian Ci bead even brighter. "I do, don’t I?"

But the mont the words left his mouth, he paused. That was a deflection. A smooth one at that and it had worked. Yu Xi had changed the subject, and Jian Ci had walked right into it.

Yu Xi smiled to himself as they stepped into the kitchen.

"Finally," Jian Wei groaned from his seat at the counter. "We are starving."

Jian Rui glanced at him, noting the sar of grease at the corner of his brother’s mouth. He said nothing, but Xiaobao didn’t bother with restraint.

"Looks like you already started eating," she said, arms crossed.

Jian Wei’s eyes widened. "Why are you always against ?"

Xiaobao blinked innocently, pointing at herself. "Who, ? I am not like that."

Jian Ci arched a brow and said, "Less food for you."

Jian Wei opened his mouth, then closed it again. "..."

Jian Ci moved with quiet precision, plating the al. The breakfast plate ca together in a harmony of color and care. The Lunaris grain porridge glowed faintly in its bowl, the solar-egg olet folded to golden perfection, and the crystalfruit dley arranged like a painter’s palette. The psi-honey tea stead gently in its porcelain cup, fragrant and calming.

He carried the tray to Yu Xi and set it down with a small smile, the pink apron still tied neatly at his back. It was a playful contrast to the seriousness of the food.

Yu Xi looked at the al, then at Jian Ci and for a mont, the whole room felt warr.

Jian Rui leaned against the counter, arms crossed, watching his brother with a look that hovered sowhere between amusent and exasperation. Jian Ci was at it again. Plating Yu Xi’s breakfast with the kind of care usually reserved for royalty. The rest of them? Left to fend for themselves.

It wasn’t new. Jian Ci had always given Yu Xi the princess treatnt. The porridge was stirred to the perfect consistency, the olet folded like a silk envelope, the fruit arranged like a painter’s palette. It was almost absurd. And yet, Jian Rui understood. Even if Jian Ci didn’t rember the nights he lost control, his body seed to. It was like he was always trying to make up for sothing, sothing he couldn’t na.

’If it were up to him,’ Jian Rui thought, ’Yu Xi wouldn’t lift a finger.’

Jian Ci with a soft, expectant smile asked, "Do you like it?"

Yu Xi looked at the dish, then up at him. "It looks really good. Thanks... gege."

Jian Ci froze. "..."

The word hit him like a slap of heat. Gege. That night flashed through his mind. It was the night Yu Xi was flushed and drunk, whispering that word against his neck before kissing him.
