If he wanted to survive, he had to be extra nice. Xiaobao stabbed her fork again. "You’re lucky you can cook."

Jian Ci flinched. "Okay, seriously. What did I do?" He assud it was because he hadn’t invited her to the nightclub. But she was a minor. It wasn’t like he could have brought her even if he wanted to.

"Didn’t I say I would take you shopping?" he offered. Xiaobao snorted. Silence fell over the table, broken only by the clink of cutlery. Then Jian Rui’s communicator buzzed. He ignored it.

It was Stannis again, trying to convince him to co over for a sleepover. Jian Rui had no intention of entertaining that chaos tonight.

Jian Ci, still chewing, asked casually, "By the way... does anyone know if Yu Xi is dating?"

Jian Wei choked on his food. Xiaobao’s eyes snapped to him, sharp as daggers.

Jian Rui calmly passed him a glass of water. "Drink this. We wouldn’t want you to die here."

Jian Wei, mid-cough, rasped, "Thanks."

Jian Ci looked around the table, confused. "...What?" he asked but no one answered. The silence said everything.

"Yeah, he has a boyfriend." The words slipped out of Xiaobao’s mouth before she could stop them.

She didn’t even know why she said it. Maybe it was the way Jian Ci kept asking about Yu Xi like a lost puppy, or maybe it was the way he looked so clueless, so blind. Whatever it was, she was tired of watching her brother suffer in silence while Jian Ci floated through life like a golden retriever with amnesia.

Jian Ci blinked. "He does?"

Xiaobao crossed her arms. "Mhm. A very handso guide."

Jian Wei and Jian Rui both turned to look at her, eyebrows raised in unison.

Jian Ci tilted his head, curious. "Do you have a picture?"

Xiaobao hesitated, then pulled out her communicator. "You want to see him?"

Jian Rui gave her a subtle nod. "Show him."

Jian Ci leaned forward, eyes bright. "Yeah, show ."

His reaction was... unexpected. Espers were notoriously possessive. Even without mories, even without clarity, Jian Ci should’ve felt sothing. But instead, he looked almost excited.

Xiaobao glanced at Jian Rui, her expression practically screaming, What the hell is happening? Jian Rui just sipped his tea. Xiaobao turned the screen toward Jian Ci.

The image was crisp, professional. It was Nikos in his uniform, silver insignia gleaming, his expression calm and composed. One of the most prestigious guides in the galaxy. A man known for his precision, his power, and his absolute discretion.

Jian Ci’s eyes widened. "Wait... isn’t that the guide who works for you?"

Jian Wei nodded. "Nikos."

Jian Ci frowned. "How did they even et? Was it during training?"

"Probably," Jian Rui said smoothly.

Jian Ci sat back, nodding slowly. That made sense. That night when he kissed him he must have thought he was Nikos.

Jian Ci asked, "Is that who he’s with right now?" Jian Rui and Jian Wei exchanged a glance.

"Yeah," Jian Rui said. "That’s why he’s not here. They are together."

Jian Ci frowned. "But why didn’t he tell ?"

"Because you are too nosy," Jian Wei muttered. "Now mind your business and stop asking where he is. You should be more worried about your own affairs."

Jian Ci pouted but went back to eating, already making ntal plans for double dates and teasing Yu Xi about being so secretive. He couldn’t wait to tell him how happy he was for him.

The other three exchanged looks. Jian Ci’s reaction was... interesting, to say the least.

anwhile, Yu Xi sat cross-legged in the training chamber, sweat clinging to his skin, his aura humming with fatigue. Nikos stood nearby, arms folded, watching him with the calm detachnt of a man who had seen too much.

"You can use your communicator now," Nikos said.

Yu Xi reached for it, but Nikos added, "Before you do... Jian Ci thinks we are dating."

Yu Xi blinked. "What?"

"His Highness’ instructions," Nikos said.

Yu Xi’s brows furrowed. "Why?"

"Talk to his Highness. He will explain." Yu Xi sighed and called Jian Rui.

"You are out," Jian Rui said. "How did it go?"

"It went well," Yu Xi replied.

"Good. You have got more classes in two days, but take the evening off. Go visit Jian Ci."

Yu Xi hesitated. "Speaking of... why does he think I’m dating Nikos?"

Jian Rui didn’t even pause. "With your bruises, you needed a boyfriend to explain them. So I gave you one."

Yu Xi sighed again. "Alright. I understand."

Jian Rui’s voice softened. "Are you really okay?"

Yu Xi paused. "Yeah. I am fine."

He ended the call and imdiately dialed Jian Ci.The line barely rang once before Jian Ci picked up.

"Little Xi!" Jian Ci’s voice was bright with relief. "I have been so worried about you that

I kept calling... I am sorry if I disturbed you and your boyfriend."

Yu Xi, "..."

The city below was a lattice of steel and neon, humming with life even in the dead of night. But up here, crouched atop a derelict broadcast tower, Yu Xi was a shadow among shadows.

His black tactical gear blended seamlessly with the rooftop, and the wind barely stirred the edges of his coat. He held a pair of high-grade binoculars to his eyes, lenses glinting faintly as he tracked movent across the street.

Inside the warehouse, ard n moved with chanical precision—patrolling, checking crates, loading cargo into a matte-black hover truck. Their formation was tight. Too tight for a civilian op.

Yu Xi’s voice was a whisper in the dark. "Target confird."

There was a crackle in his earpiece. Jian Rui’s voice ca through, clipped and low. "How far?"

Yu Xi adjusted the focus, tracking a man with a scar down his jaw. "Almost done. Why?" There was a pause.

Then Jian Rui said, "Can you speed it up and co back? Ah-Ci just had an episode." Yu Xi’s fingers tightened around the binoculars.

His brows furrowed. "Keep him sedated. I am on my way." He ended the call with a flick of his fingers, his expression unreadable. Then, into the comms: "Move in."

Below, shadows detached from alleyways and rooftops. His team moved in, silent and swift, converging on the warehouse like wolves.

Yu Xi stood, slipping the binoculars into his belt. The wind tugged at his coat, but he didn’t feel the cold. His mind was already elsewhere.
