AN: Happy new year’s eve lovelies.

"Co sit here," Jian Wei said, gesturing to the diagnostic dical bed with a nod.

Yu Xi obeyed, lowering himself into the seat with a quiet exhale. The sterile scent of the lab clung to the air, and the faint hum of the equipnt filled the silence. Jian Wei began attaching neural sensors to Yu Xi’s temples and collarbone, his movents precise, clinical.

Jian Rui stood nearby, rubbing his face with both hands. "Shit," he muttered, pacing once before stopping in front of Yu Xi. "Tell exactly what happened."

Yu Xi’s gaze dropped to the floor. "I saw his vitals spike on my communicator. He was having an episode. I left the team and went looking for him."

He turned slightly toward Jian Wei. "You said if anything happened, I should give him the TX506. In case he couldn’t do it himself."

Jian Rui’s voice was tight. "And then?"

Yu Xi bit his lower lip. "I found him in the cave. He didn’t recognize ."

He rubbed his thumb grounding himself. "He was... gone. I thought he was going to kill . But I didn’t care. I just wanted to help him. I would’ve let him beat to death if it ant getting that drug into him."

Jian Wei paused, his eyes flicking to the bite mark on Yu Xi’s shoulder. "You fought. So how did..." He hesitated. "How did this happen?"

Yu Xi flushed. "He, um... he had pinned down. I thought he was going to hit , but then—"

He furrowed his brows, searching for the words. "I felt sothing. A surge of power. Like my whole body lit up from the inside. I didn’t know what it was at first, but when I saw his reaction... I knew."

Jian Rui’s voice was low. "You guided him." Yu Xi nodded.

"What happened after?"

Yu Xi looked away. He didn’t want to talk about it.

Jian Rui’s jaw clenched. "So you just..."

Yu Xi cut him off, voice quiet but firm. "Yeah."

Jian Rui narrowed his eyes. "And he initiated it?"

"Yes."

Yu Xi didn’t ntion the other two tis Jian Ci had kissed him. He didn’t need to.

Jian Rui exhaled sharply, rubbing his upper lip with the edge of his thumb, a habit he only fell into when he was truly stressed. "Then how did Alarna get involved?"

Yu Xi blinked. "Alarna?" The confusion in his voice was genuine.

Jian Rui’s expression darkened. "You didn’t know?"

Yu Xi shook his head slowly. "What does she have to do with this?" Jian Wei and Jian Rui exchanged a glance.

Jian Wei said, his voice clipped as he adjusted the scanner over Yu Xi’s temple, "Ah Ci said he woke up and found her disheveled, bruised, and claiming he imprinted on her."

Yu Xi’s heart sank. He stared at the floor, his voice barely above a whisper. "I... I felt soone outside the cave. But I had to send you both a ssage. I needed to let you know he was okay, so I left."

Jian Rui’s jaw tightened. Jian Wei’s hands froze mid-scan.

"She claid she guided him?" Yu Xi asked, incredulous.

Jian Rui nodded. "That’s what she said."

Jian Wei leaned back, arms crossed. "She is so fucking shaless."

"Shaless is generous," Jian Rui muttered, rubbing his forehead. "She must have been waiting for the right mont to take advantage of the situation."

Before anyone could say more, the lab door slid open with a soft hiss.

"Little Xi," Jian Ci’s voice rang out, warm and relieved. Yu Xi’s head snapped up, heart skipping.

But before Jian Ci could step inside, Jian Rui was already there, blocking the doorway with a firm hand on his chest. "Wait outside."

Jian Ci blinked, confused. "Why?"

"You will see him in a minute," Jian Rui said, trying to keep his voice even. "Just... give us a mont."

Jian Ci hesitated, clearly hearing Yu Xi’s voice from inside. "Okay," he said slowly, stepping back. "I will make him so tea then."

Jian Rui watched him go, then exhaled hard and shut the door behind him, locking it to make sure Jian Ci won’t be able to just enter.

"Is he gone?" Jian Wei asked.

"Yeah," Jian Rui muttered, dragging a hand down his face.

Yu Xi sat quietly, lips pressed into a thin line. He didn’t know how to feel. About Alarna. About Jian Ci. About any of it.

Jian Wei resud the scan. "So. These past few days. What happened?"

Yu Xi sighed. "I passed out from a fever. Sothing about my aura clashing with Jian Ci’s. Grandpa said it was dangerous. He said it was resonance sickness."

"Makes sense," Jian Wei said, eyes scanning the data. "You are lucky you didn’t suffer a full psychic fracture."

"He gave dication," Yu Xi added. "And told to visit this quack—tsk, I an, doctor—if it happens again."

Jian Wei extended a hand. "Let see his information."

Yu Xi sent it over without hesitation.

He waited, expecting a reaction to the address. Maybe a raised brow at the sex toy shop front. But Jian Wei’s expression didn’t shift until he saw the na. His eyes widened.

"Are you fucking kidding ?" Jian Wei snapped.

Jian Rui: "..."

Yu Xi: "..."

Jian Wei turned the screen toward them, jabbing a finger at the na.

The na alone was enough to still a room. Dr. Morpheus Vantrel was once hailed as the brightest mind in Esper neuroscience, he had been more than a scholar. He had been a myth in motion. The youngest ever to hold a dean position at the Virelia Institute of Neural Sciences

The youngest recipient of the Orion Spire dal before he was thirty. The architect of Cognitive Entanglent Thresholds, a theory that redefined the very nature of psychic bonds.

He had taught that two minds, when linked too deeply, could either ascend into a state of transcendent synergy—or collapse into mutual ruin.

His lectures were legend. His fieldwork, whispered about like scripture. He had ntored the best, challenged the brightest, and walked the edge of psychic science with a grace that bordered on divine. And then one day... he vanished.

During a classified experint involving high-tier Esper-Guides and synthetic resonance loops, sothing went wrong. The data was sealed. The facility scrubbed. All that remained were rumors.

So said he suffered a psychic fracture so severe it shattered his identity, leaving him a hollow shell of brilliance.
