KIAN
I can visibly see the blood draining from Lain—Liam’s face as he whirls around and faces ; his eyes are wide with shock and fear as if soone has just pulled out the ground beneath him.
My lips curve up into a lethal smile and my eyes narrow at Liam, Liam Von Sylvyran, the third prince of Solaryn and sixth in the line to the throne. No. He was sixth in the line, but he is not anymore. From what that priest said just now, he is now fifth in the line. And soon, he won’t be alive to be anywhere other than six feet under the ground.
I take a small step toward him but he doesn’t back off. The shock in his eyes gradually morphs into sothing primal and visceral as his eyes narrow at , his gaze as sharp as razor blades.
I had my suspicions when I saw his relic on his bicep. But it confird when last night he spoke Eiden’s na. I have heard enough tales about Liam Von Sylvyran, who ranks just beneath at everything. Green vicious eyes, unable to control his magic yet as deathly as the most powerful curse. I was distracted this is why it took a while to realize who he actually is. And now that I know...I am blinded with fury and hostility.
No wonder Liam is hostile against . I killed his brother after all. But that motherfucker was a traitor. He betrayed my trust at the great war. He was my best friend, yet I had to lose the love of my life because of his betrayal. I killed him in haste. I wasn’t able to enjoy it...but now that I have the younger version of him, I am going to enjoy every fucking second of it.
No wonder Liam’s eyes felt so familiar to . He has his older brother’s eyes. Eiden was extrely fond of Liam. There wasn’t a single day, a single letter where he didn’t jest about his baby brother.
I wonder what would Eiden’s reaction be when I kill his beloved baby brother.
"You followed here." Liam is radiating just as much hostility as I am. He holds his ground impressively.
"I needed to get you out of Jennifer’s watch to tear that heart out of you, Your Highness." My smile is enough to chill a person to his bones but Liam doesn’t even flinch, widening my smile.
I approach him, snaking my fingers around his throat as I lean so that there are only a few inches between our faces. Liam doesn’t retaliate, nor does he take his eyes off .
"Say, Liam," I whisper softly, my hot breath fanning against his face. "Why did you lie to ?" I, myself, am surprised at the question that falls from my lips. But I don’t show it.
For so reason, I feel betrayed. I feel betrayed that Liam lied to for so long. I know if he’d told the truth about him the mont he t , I would have buried him six feet under the ground then and there. But still...
Liam snorts as if I just cracked a humorless joke, but his face hardens again, and his eyes are sharp as he hisses, "Do you think I am a fool?"
I give him a sardonic smile, "No, and this is my problem." My fingers tighten around his throat, and I lift him off the ground.
He doesn’t choke, he doesn’t gag, nor does he claw at my hand and struggle to make let go of him. Instead, he wraps his legs around my arm and neck like a snake. His movents are so calculated and stealthy that it takes a process to what he is about to do until he twists and squeezes his legs around , cutting my air supply off and slamming against the floor in one swift motion.
I don’t even yelp as I go down. Liam starts to speedily untangle himself from , but before he can make it too far, I grab his ankle and chop the back of his knee, making him kneel as I pull him into a headlock. I do it within a blink of an eye. I squeeze, knocking the breath out of his lungs.
I don’t want to use my magic here with . Because it would be unfair since he can’t use his properly. Not that I ever cared about being fair, but if I used my magic, it would be so quick, and I wouldn’t even be able to play with him or see him suffer. It would be such a pity.
But Liam doesn’t yield. I suddenly feel a small, yet murderous cold sensation on my neck. I realize it is the tip of Liam’s knife, and it is so sharp that it has barely grazed my flesh, but a bead of hot blood is already dripping down from where it is pointed.
Before I can grab Liam’s hand and bring it down, he attempts to slit my throat open. But I invade the attack by tilting my head back. Liam seizes the chance and elbows my kidny. The muscles there delay the impact. But my grip loses and he slides out like a snake.
He goes headfirst for my throat with that knife of his. I quickly get on my feet and grab his wrist, I twist it and pin it against his back, making him lose his grip on his weapon. Then, I grab the back of his head and slam his head on the ground rcilessly. This ti, to my pleasure, Liam lets out a pained yelp.
I let out a triumphal laugh as I press Liam’s head harder into the cracked floorboard. He is such a great fighter and I had so much fun playing around with him. But playti is over.
Just as I am about to strangle the life out of him, the doors of the hall fly open and a cool female voice rings out through the bloody hall.
"Let him go."
