LIAM
I am so damn sure that I have so disease related to my heart because hearts aren’t supposed to beat like mine. It’s so loud and so hard that it doesn’t even want to stay in there. It wants to drill a hole through my chest and jump into the hands of the man standing less than a few feet away from .
Kian stares at , his expression unreadable. My stomach is doing that annoying flips and flaps once again. I can feel my throat os drier than any desert exists in the world. I gulp to lubricate the dryness there. Kian’s eyes drop to the Adam’s apple of my throat. The small yet unmistakable movent of his eyes makes the rest of my breath stutter away from my lungs.
I am nervous. But not because Kian is mad at or he is nacing. I am nervous all for the wrong reasons and I am fighting so hard not to let the caged butterflies in my stomach set free. But it is getting hard as Kian’s intense gaze creates a tingling sensation running along my skin. It is almost like he is touching everywhere with his eyes. There is sothing so much more behind the coolness of his blue eyes that it is hard not to notice. The charged tension between us is so thick and palpable that I can almost taste it on the tip of my tongue.
Oh Gods, I am going crazy.
Kian suddenly spins around; he grabs a towel from a nearby rack and throws it at without looking at . I catch the towel instinctively, my chest still heaving with labored breathing that I am trying so desperately to feed my lungs and ease the burn there.
"Get dressed and get out. Now." He adds as he walks out of the bathroom.
The air cos rushing back to , and I feel like a huge weight has just been lifted off my shoulders. I force my eyes away from the spot Kian was standing just a few seconds ago and look at my reflection in the mirror.
I am almost ashad of what I see. All flushed and turned on. He didn’t even touch and I am already like this. Gods know what will happen if he ever touches .
Wait, don’t let yourself get carried away, Liam. He is your enemy. The only thing he will be ever touching you for is to kill you.
A determined voice rings through my head, and I snap back to my senses. It is right. The only thing Kian will ever be touching for is to kill . And I will make sure it never happens.
But it was still hard not to anticipate his touch on my skin...
I clear my throat, my cheeks, and neck burning because of the extrely inappropriate thoughts I am having right now. I still hate him. And I know he does the sa. But love and lust was never a package deal, was it?
I haven’t gotten laid in a while. So I bla all my inappropriate thoughts on that. But still...Kian? Seriously? He is a freaking man! Well, a very delicious one...
I hastily dry myself as I curse myself under my breath and get dressed. I swing open the door of the bathroom to find Kian standing there with the most indecipherable expression ever. I don’t see a sign of heat in his features which partly disappoints and partly relieves .
"You wanted to talk." I am proud of myself because of how normal I sound.
"Where were you?" He assesses with his sharp blue eyes, and I feel like I am lting under his heated stare.
"I was in the room the entire ti and got out a while ago to take a shower." I fabricate every word that falls from my lips.
Kian raises an eyebrow, clearly not buying. "You were in the room all the ti? You didn’t even have als?"
"I didn’t have much appetite." I return, but it seems like my good luck has run out for the day, the week, or the month because my stomach just has to have impeccable timing to rumble in protection, indicating that I am starving. Pink tings my skin as the flas of embarrassnt burn higher.
Kian arches a pointed eyebrow at my stomach, "Oh really? But I think your stomach is telling a different story."
"I-I just didn’t feel like eating." I concede ekly.
"What are you fasting or sothing?" Kian sounds unimpressed, "But in any case, why the guard didn’t see you leave the room when you left the room earlier—per your statent."
I shrug, "Who knows? I am not a ghost, you know. Maybe your guard is just incompetent." I apologize in advance if soone is getting fired today.
Kian’s eyes narrow at , pinning with a glare, "Lain, the guard in front of my room is my handpicked. He can’t make mistakes like these."
I hold his glare, "I think you are looking for an explanation at the wrong place. Go ask your guard about it. It is his duty to keep an eye on . Surely I wouldn’t go around and announce that I sneak out."
The words hang between us as we silently stare each other down. Neither of us waning. He knows what I an. And I know what I said.
"You are insufferable." Kian grits out.
"Sa goes for you." I say simply, "Thank you for the complint by the way." I offer him a smile, my eyes sharp and hostile.
’Gods, I want to strangle him.’
The line hangs between us as our eyes scream the sa thing.
Kian, at last, looks away, rubbing the back of his neck exasperatedly. He blows out a breath, his one hand on his hip and the other rubbing the bridge of his nose, "In any case, go pack your things."
I frown, not liking his words. Then again, I never did, "Why?"
"We are heading out tomorrow." He replies.
"To where?" I prompt.
"A cult."
