LIAM
Breath stutters away from my lungs as our breath mingle together. His hot breath fans against my face, wrecking goosebumps in my body. I stifle a shiver.
"W-What?" I blurt out.
His ocean-like blue eyes watch with so much intensity that I never knew existed. "You are moving in with in my bedroom." He repeats.
His deep, commanding voice reaches everywhere it shouldn’t and sends waves of sothing it shouldn’t.
I gulp, struggling to keep my now nonexistent composure, "W-Why...?" My voice is so soft it is barely above a whisper.
"Because I want you to." His grip tightens on my wrist and I winch. I am sure it will leave a hell of a bruise, "Leave it. You don’t have to move your things. My n will do the job for you." His voice drops as well, his eyes never leaving mine as if he is trying to commit every curve and contour of my face to his mory. His gaze is so intense, that it makes my toes curl.
I feel like my brain has turned into mush as Kian pulls to my feet harshly, drags to his room, and orders his n to move all my belongings—which are close to none—to his room.
This is absurd. And I totally despise it. I am now sure that Gods even don’t know what is going on in that perfect head of Kian’s.
It seems like he had a very...unpleasant eting with his so-called father, and it is not even that surprising. I, too, won’t show any ounce of interest in eting Victor even if soone paid for this.
But this sudden movent has caught off guard and I have no idea what to do now. I was planning to sneak out of the fortress in the middle of the night tonight and go to the Norlen estate to look for any other lead or clue about where this mysterious cult is since Kian has taken off the handcuff. But his sudden change of mind is like a basin of cold water to my plan.
As if the handcuff wasn’t enough this is why he is making move in with him.
But I try to look at the brighter part of it. Kian is keeping close and I know that he is well aware of my malice and resentnt against him. What is he planning? I would say this is an extrely wise and idiotic decision at the sa ti. I can kill him at any opportunity I get without any exception. He knows it, yet he is keeping as close as possible even after taking off those pain-in-the-ass handcuffs.
My intentions are clear and we are both aware of this. But Kian’s intentions are still blurry and a mystery to . This is not good. If I want to survive under the watch of Kian, I need to know what he wants. I refuse to be soone’s lab rat.
My head is a whirlpool, and suddenly, I find myself sitting alone on Kian’s soft, comfortable bed. Kian has gone to take care of so business with the military parliant mbers. I heard that there is a eting tomorrow. I have a feeling it can’t be good. Not that I care.
I get on my feet and walk to the window beside the bed. I look down. There are guards out there, patrolling the grounds. The security of this fortress has increased by tenfold since last week after I tried to run away. I am pretty sure that there are guards at the door of the room as well.
I sigh and rub my temple. I should have run the hell away from this place when I still had the chance. Now I have officially beco a prisoner. I pace the room, the restless energy unfurling inside my stomach and the carpet muffling my frantic footsteps.
Sothing clicks inside my head just then. Kian will be away all morning tomorrow. So, I do have the chance to do sothing outside my league. But the problem is, how do I get out of here without soone noticing . I can’t just walk out of the door and tell everyone, "Hey, this is my runaway part II. Never see you again." I can’t even jump out of the window unless I want to go up to the Gods rather than down to the human world. I don’t want to turn myself into a ghost for the sake of a stupid mission. I am too young to die.
Wait. A. Minute. A ghost! That is!
Exactly! I have a ghost! I an my familiar is a ghost! She can take out of here without even anyone noticing before I am long gone. However, I need to return before Kian returns because if he finds out that I have committed runaway part II, he will drag back here from the depths of hell and tear apart with his bare hands, that is for sure. He went easy on last ti.
"Master is scared of the commander." Crystal’s cool, devoid-of-emotion voice rings through my head.
"Of course not." I snap back. I can visibly picture Crystal giving her cool ’I don’t believe you’ look. I grimace.
How could I forget that familiars and masters can use telepathy with each other? But wait, was Crystal eavesdropping in my thoughts?
"Wait a minute, were you eavesdropping?"
"You think too loudly, master." She replies without any hesitance.
"You are forbidden to do this kind of unpleasant thing in the future," I say grimly.
"But your thoughts are interesting, master." If I didn’t know better, I would have thought that Crystal was whining.
"I said no." I deadpan.
"Fine."
"Where are you?"
"In front of the honorable Crown Princess."
My heart sinks, "What is she doing?" I am pretty sure my doctor will have a field day once I get back to Sylvyran because of how weird my heart has been acting lately.
"Burning the palace down after getting your letter, master." She sounds as blank as ever.
Oh shit!
