Originveil Academy has stood as a beacon of power, knowledge, and guidance—a sacred place where geniuses, both past and present, gathered to sharpen their abilities.

However, that was not the core reason for this academy's formation.

This academy was built to provide a place for the heroes selected by gods to grow in a favorable environnt.

The heroes ntioned above are the exceptionally talented people selected by gods to represent them.

Unlike the saints, who were called the children of the gods, the heroes were their warriors, handpicked for their imnse potential. They fought for their god their whole life and died while performing their duties.

That is why they are given another chance. They are reincarnated again as a reward and are left to live a normal life.

However, be it the reincarnated heroes or the present heroes, they are all very skilled and incomparable geniuses. People like that have a hard ti adjusting to the world.

This academy was made to provide those people with a favorable environnt. The heroes, in return, have to protect the academy and listen to their requests.

That was one of the reasons Originveil Academy was the strongest powerhouse in the world.

People knew about heroes, and they knew about reincarnation. It wasn't sothing surprising.

So were remnants of legendary battles, warriors who perished in their pri, only to be granted another chance at destiny.

Others carried the burden of lost eras, wielding knowledge from long-forgotten civilizations, walking amongst the present as strangers to a world reshaped by ti.

Alex, who knew about those heroes from the novel's plot, was fully aware of the heroes disguised as normal students, trying to live a normal life in the academy.

However, he didn't care about what they did.

What he cared about was that they existed and used their stories as a base for whatever he had told Vanessa and Alenia.

His mind, however, was still preoccupied with the conversation he had with Vanessa and Alenia as he stepped onto the stone pathway leading to his mansion atop the third peak.

As said before, Alex had used those stories of the heroes as the base of his story, but that didn't an he lied to them.

He just let them interpret what they wanted to. He just truthfully told them about his past.

Yes, he had carefully frad his words to make Vanessa and Alenia, who were intelligent enough to connect dots, make out things wrongly, but it was needed.

The only reason he hid the real truth from them was that although he didn't know anything about the one responsible for his reincarnation, he was sure that they weren't soone who was from this novel's plot, which made them extrely dangerous.

A being capable of reincarnating a being not even from this world into this world while avoiding the local gods' detection couldn't be soone he was ready to face yet.

[So, things went according to plan, right?] Sophie's voice echoed within his mind.

Alex exhaled, his gaze fixed on the distant skyline of Originveil City. "Yes," he nodded. "Even if I didn't spell it out, they must be thinking of as a hero from a distant past."

[Yeah, the way you described your world...] Sophie trailed off. [You made sure they'd assu it was so distant ti in the past rather than a completely different plane of existence.]

A smirk tugged at Alex's lips. "That should keep their concerns at bay for now. As far as they know, heroes are supposed to be favored by the gods, blessed with divine protection and imnse luck. If anything, they'll probably convince themselves that I'm safer than I actually am."

[That's assuming they don't dig deeper,] Sophie cautioned.

Alex's smirk faded as he sighed. "They will, eventually."

................................

anwhile, back in the dimly lit chamber, Vanessa and Alenia sat in a tense silence, the weight of their conversation pressing heavily upon them.

Unlike what Alex had thought, his words didn't reassure them but raised their worries. His moves had backfired.

"What do we do now?" Alenia asked, her hands clenched tightly together, her silver eyes filled with a rare vulnerability. "We can't face those beings with the power we have..."

Vanessa remained motionless for a mont before she finally stood, her eyes burning with determination. "We need to talk with soone who might be able to help us."

Alenia's breath hitched as realization struck her. "You an… Beatrice?"

Vanessa nodded, her expression unyielding. "We're going to see her again."

Alenia hesitated before voicing her next concern. "We still don't know which god Alex was connected to in his past life. Would Beatrice even be able to sever the link if one still exists?"

Vanessa was silent, deep in thought. "Since Alex doesn't rember anything about his god, there's no need to force him to recall it. It's better if he doesn't."

Vanessa had intentionally not asked Alex about the god he served in his past life since she thought that recalling it would only make the link between him and the god he served stronger.

Vanessa's voice turned firm, though a flicker of uncertainty passed through her gaze as she continued. "Whether Beatrice can do anything or not isn't certain, but we need to at least consult her."

Alenia bit her lip, her fingers twitching anxiously. "It's possible that Alex was a hero from an era so ancient that the god he once served no longer exists."

Vanessa exhaled slowly, her expression dark. "I hope so as well. But we can never be sure."

As Alex had expected, Alenia and Vanessa did think of that, but they were still unsure since no one knew what mysteries the world had in store.

Alenia swallowed hard. "He hasn't shown any signs of divine connection so far. If we act fast, we might be able to ensure that he never does."

Vanessa's gaze flickered toward the chamber's entrance as if sensing sothing ominous beyond its threshold. "Let's hope we're not too late."

With those words, Vanessa and Alenia moved, not wanting to waste any more ti since they knew how important this matter was.

..........................

What they didn't know, however, was that, contrary to their expectations, Alex wasn't free of danger.

As he approached the grand doors of his mansion, a strange sensation crawled up his spine—an instinct honed through countless lifetis warning him of an unseen presence.

His steps slowed. His gaze sharpened. He could see traces of soone walking toward the bedroom. Other than Jas—who was in the desolate right now—there was no one else who would enter his bedroom without permission.

Even Mira, who lived in the sa mansion, wouldn't do that.

'Who is it?' Alex's mind raced as he tried to think of soone who could co to et him at this ti.

'Assassins?' He frowned, not waving away the thought as it was certainly possible.

Alex summoned Verathian, his trusted sword, and prepared for the worst.

He didn't feel a threat to his life, which ant the person who was inside wasn't strong enough to kill him with one attack, so he just needed to be careful.

With that thought, his serious expression darkened as his palm touched the doorknob.
