That was where he had previously executed those high-ranking mbers of the Lucifer Organization; inside, a group of elite experintal subjects still remained.

These were originally Dr. Sean's contingency, a surprise for any invaders, but now they had beco his only hope for survival!

As long as I can open the door and rush in, I can use those experintal subjects to turn the tables on that monster! I have to! I just have to! Damn it, why didn't I install explosives in those subjects!

Dr. Sean had never been so terrified, constantly deluding himself, ignoring the fact that the monster could easily slaughter the experintal subjects.

He fumbled desperately along the wall.

Suddenly, Dr. Sean sensed sothing was amiss.

His heart lurched.

The gunshots? Why have the gunshots stopped?

Trembling, he clutched his small self-defense pistol and spun around.

The next mont, Dr. Sean's heart nearly stopped from sheer terror.

A pair of faintly glowing eyes were silently fixed on him from right behind, watching him, watching him grope along the tal walls like a bumbling clown...

"Dr. Sean?"

Dr. Sean was so frightened he wet himself.

"Monster!"

"It really is a monster!"

"AHHHH!"

He aid his pistol at the figure and frantically pulled the trigger.

But the expected gunfire never ca.

As Dr. Sean stared in confusion, a large hand snatched the pistol from him. "Doctor," a patronizing voice instructed, "you have to disengage the safety before you shoot."

"BOO HOO."

Dr. Sean, a man in his sixties or seventies, finally broke down and burst into tears.

It was too terrifying.

Too damn terrifying.

Even the bravest person couldn't withstand such repeated shocks!

The cold-blooded Dr. Sean, who had presided over the grueso deaths of countless innocent experintal subjects, completely shattered under Dean's relentless tornt.

I thought mad scientists were supposed to be tough, but he's so fragile? Dean mused. Movies are so deceiving.

He shook his head, looked at the weeping old man, and slapped him hard across the face.

With a SMACK, Dr. Sean's head spun.

He clutched his face, dazed for a long mont. The stinging pain finally snapped him out of his half-crazed state. Holding a box in front of him like a shield, he shrank back, pressing himself against the corner of the wall, shivering as he stared at the luminescent eyes in the darkness.

He was now one hundred percent certain: this monster was the product of another laboratory.

As far as he knew, besides the Lucifer Organization, several other organizations in North Arica were researching different aspects of the Elixir of Immortality, both competing and cooperating with each other.

Could this monster be a creation of those Eastern powers?

"Cald down now?" Dean's voice was low.

Dr. Sean nodded frantically, like a browbeaten wife. Gathering his courage, he ventured, "Are you a product of that ancient Eastern country, or from the Bear's research labs?"

Dean's interest was piqued.

He checked the ti and, seeing he had plenty, asked, "Oh? So many factions are conducting similar research?"

Dr. Sean shook his head and answered honestly, "Human experintation beca frequent after World War I, but it's mostly concentrated in the West. Europe's strongest is the Commonwealth; they seized the German Empire's research results. Next is the United States. Practically all the world's top pharmaceutical companies are controlled by the most influential figures in these two federations."

Suddenly, Dr. Sean's eyes widened as if he'd realized sothing. "I know! You're from Rattlesnake, that damned Jewish Consortium!"

Rattlesnake? Dean thought. Another organization I've never heard of.

Dean had intended to question him further, but seeing the look of grim resignation on Dr. Sean's face after uttering "Rattlesnake," he knew he wouldn't get any more information. This guy seed to despise Jewish people intensely.

Although Dean was confident that, given a little more ti, he could make the old man spill his deepest secrets, his ti was now very limited.

So, Dean pulled out his gun, pressed it to Dr. Sean's head, and said softly, "I can tell you this: you are my target. My organization needs you. But this place is surrounded by National Security agents. So, tell your original escape route."

"You... you don't want to kill ?"

With the gun to his head, Dr. Sean wasn't alard but pleasantly surprised. Who would choose death if they could live?

Dean looked at him strangely. "You're the project leader. If you also died, what would be the point of coming here? What's most important in the 21st century? Talent! Our organization can promise you that as long as you're willing to serve us, you'll remain the project leader. And you can access all of our organization's existing research results. For example, you could beco as powerful as I am."

SLURP.

In the darkness, Dean heard Dr. Sean gulp. The old man was tempted.

Just then, BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

A sound ca from Dr. Sean's watch. On its display, a circular progress indicator showed one hundred percent.

Dr. Sean sighed in relief and looked earnestly at Dean. "This is the most precious thing in the entire base. All research data has been transferred to an Invisible Submarine. If what you say is true, I can defect with these materials. We can use that submarine to escape."

"Good. A pleasure doing business with you." Dean extended his hand toward Dr. Sean, returning the pistol.

Dr. Sean took the gun, finally relaxing, convinced Dean truly didn't intend to kill him.

He slumped to the ground, breaking out in a cold sweat. "Damn it, I feel weak all over. Everything here is on an independent power supply. How did you cut it?"

"The gate's defenses are good, but the wall's defenses are diocre. I blew a hole in the wall, followed the surveillance lines, and cut the power cables directly."

Dr. Sean was speechless.

Such a crude way to breach security, he thought bitterly. Those idiot contractors! They really screwed over!

His curiosity satisfied, he resignedly said, "The escape passage is in the middle of this safe room. There's a hidden descending elevator. The Invisible Submarine can only be activated with my fingerprint and iris scan. It's not large, making it easy to control with its smart system. The thod to activate the elevator is..."

Once Dean had all the information, he remained still and looked past him. "What's that door behind you for?"

Dr. Sean said irritably, "That's where the main system core is, the latest supercomputer mainfra. It's ant to be on the surface. However, thanks to so traitorous bastard, I can't get in there anymore. But I've already had those bastards executed inside."

Dean nodded, having received his answer. "Thank you for your cooperation, Dr. Sean!"

A muzzle flash briefly illuminated the room.

Dr. Sean's head snapped back, hitting the wall hard. His eyes flew wide; he died with them open, an uncomprehending stare fixed on his killer.

Damn it, didn't you say I was talented and you wouldn't kill ? I'm a valuable asset!

Unfortunately, even if he could have spoken, Dean's only response would have been another bullet. If he'd even suspected Sean was faking death, he might have pulled a rocket launcher from Subspace as a parting gift. This man was just that pragmatic.

After dispatching the old man, Dean retrieved a scalpel from Subspace. While the irises were still viable, he skillfully excised the old man's eyes and stored them.

Afterward, he squatted, swapped the scalpel for a larger blade, and first severed the hand cuffed to the large case. He stored the hand and case together before chopping off the other hand and storing it as well.

Hopefully, these would be enough to operate the submarine. If not, it didn't matter. Where there's a submarine, there's water; he could swim out.

Since Dean no longer needed to conserve energy, he could even use Subspace to store a large quantity of air, allowing him to survive underwater for extended periods.

In a sense, unless he was cornered by heavy firepower in urban terrain, he was indeed very, very difficult to kill. The marvel of Subspace was the true source of Dean's confidence in taking this gamble.

Following the thod Dr. Sean had described, Dean fumbled for a mont before opening the hidden elevator in the safe room.

Luckily, there seed to be an ergency power supply, like the ones for ergency exit signs. So, the power cut to the safe room hadn't affected this area. Otherwise, Dean would have had to go outside and reconnect the power lines.

Finally over, Dean thought, taking a deep breath, ready to leave.

Just then, CLICK.

With the faint sound, the electronic door behind Dr. Sean's corpse slowly opened...
