He entered the villa.

Dean imdiately noticed sothing was amiss.

Although the inside of the villa couldn’t be described as empty, there was not a single piece of valuable furniture or appliance in sight, which was clearly abnormal for a detached villa worth over two million US dollars!

Dean walked through the living room, arriving at the spot where the handyman had fallen.

It was a bar area.

At one corner of the bar, fresh bloodstains were still visible.

The handyman must have lost his footing there, hit his head on the corner of the bar, and consequently been injured and fainted.

Dean squatted down for a closer look.

On the side of the bar near the floor, there were upward blood spatters. The blood was bright red and relatively fresh, likely flung there when the handyman fell—a normal trace.

Suddenly, Dean’s gaze fixed on a corner farther from the bar.

A few inconspicuous drops of blood were there too.

The drops were teardrop-shaped, pointing downwards, and had coagulated into a blackish-red color.

These traces have been here for so ti. They definitely weren’t left by the handyman!

Considering his earlier findings, Dean now had a premonition.

This is yet another murder case!

However, isolated traces could also have been left by the hoowner’s family so ti ago; he couldn’t yet conclude that a murder had taken place here.

Dean stood up and began to search the surrounding area thoroughly.

Soon, he discovered similar coagulated bloodstains on the living room’s fireplace and walls. Even the ceiling had spots of blood flung onto it, covering a wide area that encompassed most of the villa!

This can no longer be explained away as an accidental injury!

Dean concluded that an extrely brutal fight must have occurred here, which was the only explanation for such widespread bloodstains.

Looks like there’s more work to be done!

Dean took out his cell phone and called Lawrence.

"Dean, are you back?" Lawrence’s surroundings sounded noisy, with the din of hawking, as if he were in a marketplace.

"Yes, I’m back," Dean said without elaborating. "If it’s convenient, co over to Villa 76 in the Tamida district. I think a murder has occurred here."

"Okay, I’ll tell Harry."

He hung up the phone and began wandering around the living room.

The place looked sowhat dirty and disorganized.

Clearly, the handyman who had been living here hadn’t done a good job cleaning.

In so empty areas, dust outlines clearly showed where furniture and appliances had recently been.

Reaching the window, Dean stopped.

The two middle panes of glass looked much cleaner compared to the surrounding ones.

Considering the overall state of cleanliness in the house, Dean guessed, These two panes aren’t cleaner because they’ve been wiped; they must have been recently replaced.

In the inwardly recessed parts of the window fra, he could still see so tiny fragnts of broken glass, indicating the glass had been broken from the outside.

Making a ntal note of these details, Dean was about to go upstairs.

Just then, the bald patrol officer, Hawk, arrived at the door, a hint of schadenfreude on his face. "Dean, the forensic team is here, but they seem pretty unhappy. Ha ha."

Being called over for a dead dog, anyone from forensics would be pissed.

Dean, unfazed, walked out of the house.

There weren’t many from the forensic team—just three n and a woman. He recognized one of them: Holz, Bill’s forr assistant.

Looks like he’s started doing fieldwork.

Dean was about to greet Holz when the middle-aged man in front of Holz stepped forward, his tone unfriendly. "Buddy, don’t tell you called us all the way out here just because you found a dead dog in the yard! Do you take us for your underlings?"

"Hold on!" Holz, however, recognized Dean. His face turned pale as he quickly stopped his colleague. "That’s Dean!"

"Dean!" The exclamation ca in unison from Holz’s three colleagues.

The middle-aged man who had blocked Dean’s path grew even paler, stamring, "Sorry, Detective Dean, I was a bit out of line earlier. I... I an, whatever you need, just give the word!"

Dean was utterly baffled by their reactions.

Still, it’s a good thing these ’tools’ are cooperative.

He nodded, offering a friendly smile. "I’ve just conducted a preliminary inspection inside and found many bloodstains that haven’t been properly cleaned up. So, I’d like you to conduct a more thorough examination. It would be even better if you could determine the ti and scope of distribution."

"No problem, no problem!"

The four obediently returned to their car, retrieved various instrunts, and entered the villa’s main hall.

Hawk, standing nearby, gave Dean a suspicious look. "I’ve never seen this bunch so polite and obedient. Fella, did you use so kind of witchcraft on them?"

"They probably respect my character. I’m a renowned five-star model citizen of Los Angeles, after all," Dean said, subconsciously touching the gun at his waist.

Each 11.43mm bullet in it was a strong testant to his upstanding character!

"’Your character?’" Hawk’s expression grew even more skeptical. "Sorry, I think I might need to get my nose checked, because all I sll on you is bad guy."

"Piss off!" Dean flipped Hawk the bird. "Hawk, can you get information on the entire family of the owner of Villa 76? It’d be even better if you could find out about their relationships with each other."

"No problem. I’m looking forward to the credit you’ll share," Hawk responded readily, picking up his pager and preparing to call in a couple more colleagues for assistance.

This feeling of delegating tasks is pretty good.

Dean walked into the room and found Holz and his team pouring so powder into a plastic bucket. The bucket was equipped with straps, a nozzle, and a pump lever, resembling a rudintary pesticide sprayer.

"Holz, are you preparing to spray pesticide?" Dean approached, curious to learn.

Holz, startled by Dean suddenly appearing behind him, stamred, "Dean, this is... Luminol Reagent..."

So this is Luminol Reagent.

Dean grew even more curious.

He had heard of this stuff but was seeing it in person for the first ti.

Bloodstains, in fact, are traces that are very difficult to remove completely.

This is because rinsing and wiping might seem to remove them, but red blood cells, invisible to the naked eye, still remain.

Using a specialized reagent can cause an occult blood reaction with these microscopic red blood cells, revealing new traces of blood.

Luminol Reagent was precisely such a reagent.

When sprayed on bloodstains in a dim environnt, it emits a faint blue glow.

Many cri dramas feature this scene to highlight the professionalism of the investigators.

Once the reagent was prepared, Holz donned specialized protective gear, hoisted the prepared tank, and began spraying various areas of the villa.

The substance was mildly corrosive.

The others had to draw the curtains and wait outside.

A mont later, Holz’s shocked voice cried out from inside the house, "Fuck! This place is a slaughterhouse!"
