"I don't have onychomycosis..."

A weak wail ca from the floor.

Li ii sobbed, lifting her sharp-featured face, which was stamped with a large footprint and streaked with two trails of blood from her nose. She looked utterly pitiful.

"It's all right!" Dean said, wiping the corner of her eye with an understanding look. "Just one hamr blow, and your nail will turn gray-black."

"WAH!"

Li ii cried even more miserably!

One could imagine. All that she had experienced today would take a lifeti for this pampered, rich girl—who indulged in perverse gas yet had never tasted the harshness of the real world—to heal from.

...

Considering her father's connections—he worked under the newly appointed 'SI Director' Saul—Dean naturally wouldn't actually torture his daughter. It was all just psychological pressure.

After waiting a mont, seeing Li ii's psychological defenses nearly collapse and her emotions gradually calm, Dean tossed a wet wipe onto the table in front of her. "Your crying is unbearable. Wipe your face, tell why you hid the information about the male crew mber, and then you can leave."

Li ii sniffed, no longer daring to hide anything. "What I said about the male crew mber is true. But I didn't leave; I was curious about what he was up to, so I followed him. That's when I saw Moress!"

"Moress, the owner of the Elizabeth cruise ship?"

"Yes!" Li ii gritted her teeth and recounted everything she had seen. "Ms. Moress seed to despise George intensely. She had that crew mber put a safety helt on him, offered so simple 'encouragent,' and then... that male crew mber mounted him."

Harry, standing to the side, showed a look of disgust. A man's mber is for filling a woman's void, not for being a damn shit-stirrer!

He forced a smile. "Was George really that potent? Could his 'brother' still perform under those circumstances?"

"I don't know. Maybe the mix of aphrodisiacs I injected George with was too strong. Anyway, the crew mber just worked on him a bit, and George reacted."

"COUGH, COUGH." Harry licked his lips. "So, what drugs did you inject him with? Don't get wrong, my friend Holz, the forensic pathologist, would probably be very interested. Plus, this needs to be docunted for the case file."

"Shut up, Harry!"

Dean wasn't interested in these matters. He cut off their off-topic conversation and pressed on, "What happened next?"

"George died," Li ii lowered her head. "He'd already taken drugs and was then injected with more. He almost died from cardiac arrest. I saved him with an intracardiac injection, but later he underwent intense stimulation and eventually died in the leech bathtub."

"Moress was also sowhat surprised. In the room, she called a lunatic for injecting George with so many drugs, blaming for soone dying on her ship. Afterward, I didn't dare stay outside any longer and ran back to my room. I only ca out again when a servant found George's body. I don't care about the dead man. But this matter involves Moress. She's a ruthless woman with ties to so gangs. I didn't know why she hadn't disposed of George's body the next day, but I didn't dare try to defend myself anymore."

After saying all this, Li ii, already exhausted in body and mind, slumped to the floor, closed her eyes, and awaited Dean's decision.

From the mont her lawyer left, Li ii knew her father had abandoned her.

...

"Moress..." Dean nodded and looked at Harry. "Contact Moress. Have her co to the police station. I'll take Carlo to the morgue first."

"What about her?"

"Detain her according to standard procedure, then call her family to post bail. What happens after that isn't our concern."

With that, Dean left the interrogation room.

This case, truthfully, was never going to end with any criminals behind bars from the outset. The deceased was just an ordinary person. Even if he was a top student, a life full of promise, these things have a price tag in the United States. That's reality. So, the police's only real role was likely to help George, the unlucky fellow, get so compensation.

Dean, however, grew curious about why Moress would want to use two n on George, her forr boy toy.

Before heading to the morgue, Dean first went to his office. Daisy was sitting in his inspector's chair, her long legs crossed, watching the latest model LCD TV on the wall. Carlo, anwhile, was arduously filling out paperwork. He hadn't joined Dean's team through normal procedures; Daisy needed to pull so strings to complete the process he'd missed. Strictly speaking, the guy didn't even have his detective badge yet.

Seeing Dean erge from the interrogation room, Daisy yawned. "Dean, Aisha didn't look too good when she left earlier. You didn't actually torture those rich won, did you?"

As a butcher's daughter, Daisy—this beauty with a delicate appearance but a tough-as-nails core—wasn't averse to Dean's thods.

Dean shrugged. "Just so necessary and friendly communication. Harry needs your help with Li ii. Also, arrange for Moress to co here. Tell her I'd like to have a proper chat with her."

"Not a subpoena?"

"If she agrees, it's a chat. If she doesn't, it's a subpoena!"

After saying this, Dean took Carlo and left the office.

「On the way to the morgue.」
