After dinner, Jimmy was called to the study by Kevin, and the two sat in two single sofas placed against the wall. Kevin opened the cigar box on the small table between them, took out a cigar and handed it to Jimmy. He also took one for himself, cut the ends and lit it up, while Jimmy also took the cigar cutter and lit his up.
Sharing a cigar is a good sign, indicating that at least Kevin thinks the conversation won't be too short, and clearly he's in a good mood now.
Kevin: "Jimmy, I've investigated you for a long ti. To be honest, I wasn't satisfied with you initially."
Jimmy turned to look at Kevin, not in a hurry to respond, but waiting for Kevin to continue talking.
Kevin: "Nia is a child who causes worry. I once thought she would beco an artist or a musician, but she secretly applied to the police station, attended police academy training, and I only found out when she got accepted.
I don't want her to beco a police officer, because it's still a very dangerous profession, but now that it's already happened, I can only hope she quickly moves from patrol officer to detective, away from danger.
I originally thought she would choose an ordinary person as a partner, whether a company employee or an artist would be fine, but who knew she would choose an FBI agent, whose career is even more dangerous than hers.
I'm very upset, and very worried. You are all law enforcent officers, and I am very concerned about whether her life will encounter any accidents, whether she can live a peaceful life in the future.

It was the first ti Jimmy heard this story. He always thought Nia beca a police officer because of her policeman father, due to family influence, never imagining she applied on her own, actually going against her parents' wishes.
Jimmy: "Please rest assured, I will protect Nia, she will never co to any harm by my side. I think she's quite happy being a detective now, and you needn't worry about her life, I believe I have the ability to provide her with better living conditions."
Kevin: "You're alone, without family, right? Nia is my only daughter, and I love her very much. How can you make believe you can give her a happy life?"
Jimmy: "I don't think that's an issue. To be frank, I have a company and my own bar; my annual inco is more than sufficient to support a family.

Kevin frowned. When he investigated Jimmy before, he only checked basic information. He couldn't get the full FBI records, and hearing what Jimmy said now, how could an ordinary orphan have all this. "How is it possible? What did you... do?"

Kevin and Jimmy talked a little more about Jimmy's matters, then put down the half-smoked cigars, and both returned to the living room.
Nia looked at the expressions on their faces, noticing they were both relaxed, not confrontational, and finally sighed in relief. Jimmy joined in too, listening to them talk about life and stories from when Nia was little, and the conversation was pleasant.
When it was ti to leave, Nia escorted Jimmy downstairs, they embraced before parting, and Jimmy started the car and left Nia's ho.
