Since all four students had died and there were no other people around, no one knew what the murderer looked like. From the condition of the bodies, it was known that the murderer had used a large machete, and there were no marks from any other weapons.
After investigating the scene, the local police found the footprints of the murderer when he left and tracked them for a distance, but then the murderer's footprints and other traces disappeared, so the case had always remained unsolved.
The second case occurred in the Big Bend National Park in Texas, a well-known tourist spot you might have heard of. Inside one of the caves there, several skeletons were found, all shot dead, and dozens of bullet holes were found in the walls of the cave, as if a massive shootout had taken place inside.
By the ti the skeletons were found, they had been dead for several years, and no clues were found at the scene, so the case was suspended as unsolved. The identification of the bodies also did not go smoothly, and the number of people missing from years ago couldn't be accounted for; it wasn't even ruled out that they might have been people crossing the border, so...
Jimmy shrugged and said the two cases should satisfy Nia's curiosity for now, so things just couldn't be explained too clearly. Jimmy had once t a Demon Hunter, who had several Exorcism Weapons that he had gathered from his hunts, so of which were from outdoor maniacs. If these were actually checked, plenty of clues might be found, but it was really pointless.
In fact, the instances where Jimmy encountered abnormal situations causing casualties in the wild were not many, the Resentful Spirit in the river of Tata Town, Texas and another Resentful Spirit seen in the forests of New York State while tracking an escaped convict were so examples.
If Nia were to encounter these situations, there was a high chance of a tragedy, so it was better for them to remain city police and not casually go out to investigate cases.
Jimmy added, "The serial killers you see in the movies, most of them are portrayed as hideous and insane, but that's almost always artistic processing. In reality, many murder cases don't have so many reasons, sotis it's just impulse killing, and the number of serial killings is not as high. But if you made movies based on actual case situations, no one would watch them; they are not thrilling or frightening enough."
Nia: "Can't help it, New York is not like other places, basically we don't get information about such cases, usually we can only guess from watching movies like those."
Jimmy: "Don't ever underestimate these people, most unsolved cases are caused by them, especially those committed on impulse, so I'm always extra cautious when I'm in the wild."
Nia: "Have you camped in the wild?"
Jimmy shook his head, "Not camping, but chasing suspects in the dark environnts of the wilderness. Don't think too much, you guys are NYPD, you won't likely handle these kinds of cases, better leave it to us at the FBI."
Jimmy suddenly realized, "Wait a minute, we're here to have fun, why are we talking about work cases? Let's change the subject. Speaking of which, how is my future father-in-law doing now? Still opposing as always?"
Nia slapped Jimmy lightly, "Much better recently, at least not having talks with as often as before."
Jimmy: "Speaking of which, last ti you ntioned, soone in your family joined the K party?"
Nia: "My grandfather, but don't worry, they're not as extre anymore. Why not et them when you co back to New York?"
Jimmy: "Uh, you're not worried we might end up fighting?"
Nia: "No, it won't co to that; I'll arrange it."
Jimmy shrugged indifferently, having already committed the deed, he wasn't afraid of boiling water now. His future father-in-law wouldn't be pointing a gun at him, right? "Of course, I have no objections, but it will have to wait a bit; my mission here isn't over yet."
Nia nodded: "I will communicate with them in advance, don't worry."

Leaving the desert, Jimmy drove to the Sandia Mountains, where the newly purchased camping gear in his trunk finally ca in handy.
The Sandia Mountains truly were a popular hiking and camping spot nearby. Jimmy and his group arrived late, and several tents were already set up.
After surveying the area, Jimmy chose to set up his tent on the edge. He had opted for a non-automatic tent, which required threading the poles, hamring stakes, tying ropes, and setting up the outer tent.
Both being first-tirs, they fumbled through the process, creating nurous comical mishaps, including setting up the inner tent backwards on their first attempt. It turned out to be a rare mont of relaxation.
After busy work, they finally got the tent set up. Jimmy laid out the moisture-proof mats and sleeping bags inside the tent before taking out the stove and fuel to boil water for himself.
In fact, due to his unfamiliarity with camping, Jimmy had prepared as if he were surviving in the wild, whereas most campers brought pre-made or even cooked food simply for a relaxing weekend. Overcomplicating things was just making extra work for himself.
However, he wasn't planning to cook dinner entirely at the campsite. Before coming, he had bought bread and bacon and packed two servings of vegetable salad. The only things that required actual cooking were steaks and sausages, and of course, essential coffee.
As Jimmy worked on the stove, the sky had gradually darkened, and the temperature had begun to drop. Nia wore one of Jimmy's jackets and joined him in firing up the stove and making dinner. Not far away, another group by a different tent did the sa, except they cleared the ground and made a small campfire.
The campsite was located by a creek, and for safety, the park managent had cleared the trees in this area to avoid any accidents, which made it OK to build a fire directly. However, Jimmy had no idea about this; when he went shopping for gear, he bought a complete set based on the essentials they ntioned for camping.
For their first ti cooking dinner in the wild, Jimmy and Nia tead up, sitting by the stove, complaining about the poor steak while enjoying the quiet night in the mountains.
The night was uneventful, though the nearby two tents did make so inexplicable noises. Fortunately, apart from those two, the others were far away and likely wouldn't be affected.
The next morning, Jimmy and his group packed up the tent and gear into the car and then took the cable car up to the top of the Sandia Mountains. This was a famous cable car, the world's longest single cable car ride, spanning nearly 7 kiloters.
Riding the cable car provided a view of most of the beautiful scenery of the Sandia Mountains. Ascending the steep slopes, one could overlook the beautiful valleys, lush trees, and dense vegetation.
Next ca canyons and cliffs, where rock layers stacked on top of each other, forming a magnificent geological landscape.
Further up, one could overlook Albuquerque City and its suburbs, with buildings, streets, and rivers forming a cityscape.
Reaching the summit, one could see not only most of the panoramic view of the Sandia Mountains but also the distant desert and plains, with a view stretching even farther.
Taking the cable car tour was an absolute must-do when visiting the Sandia Mountains, and it was sothing Jimmy had planned as a necessary part of their trip; otherwise, the visit would have been for nothing.
Nia, of course, was thrilled. Although she hadn't often seen mountain landscapes before, it was undeniable that even familiar scenery felt different with different companions.
After so ti, they took the cable car back down the mountain, drove back to Albuquerque, and Nia, having enjoyed two lovely days, was ready to return to New York. After a shower back at the hotel, Jimmy drove Nia to the airport. After a kiss, Nia walked into the departure hall with a smile.
Jimmy turned and left the airport too, heading back to Albuquerque. It was ti to depart.
