Jimmy nodded, "Although I judge that the current situation is most likely not related to Nuer, the mastermind behind the explosions, since there are leads, let's investigate them as well."
Riley ca over with a mobile phone, "Jimmy, I need to return to the office. You guys can arrange to co back on your own later, I won't see you out."
Jimmy: "Thank you, Riley, go ahead with your work. I can handle things here."
This ti, there was no handshake. Jimmy opened his arms and hugged Riley goodbye. Riley also said goodbye to Mahong and Philicia before leaving the police station.
Jimmy: "I'll contact the hospital. If they have finished treating their wounds, we'll prepare to take people back."
-----------------
Using the FBI's authority, after the hospital treatnt, Jimmy forcibly arranged for two suspects to be sent back to New York. Fortunately, as long as there was money involved, the local ambulances weren't opposed to a private job.
After contacting a hospital in New York in advance, Jimmy and his team quickly returned to Manhattan with two ambulances and a hearse. The two deceased were sent to the morgue at the forensic doctor's office in the hearse, and the injured were taken to a designated hospital. Two probationary agents were arranged to guard them in shifts, which Mahong had the authority to arrange over a phone call.
The fingerprints of all four individuals were also collected. Back at the office, Jimmy imdiately sent their fingerprints and guns to the forensic departnt to confirm their identities, and to check if these handguns matched the bullet fragnts and rifling from the gun attack on Jimmy a few days earlier.
Last ti it was two people; this ti, it was four. If they didn't indeed have so many on hand, readily available, there should theoretically be so intersection.
While Jimmy was dealing with these four individuals, Mahong arranged for Philicia to investigate another bomber, Ashraf Rassimi. Mahong himself went to find Hughes.
Hughes didn't know much about Mahong, so he hadn't assigned the investigations of Jimmy being under OPR scrutiny and the assault case to Mahong, choosing instead to go with soone he was more familiar with, from his old subordinates.
Mahong recounted the details of Jimmy's attack today and his deductions to Hughes, exactly in Jimmy's own words without adding his own speculations.
Hughes: "What's your opinion?"
Mahong: "Two things, first, contact the technical departnt to check who accessed Jimmy's personal data and car allocations during this period; second, the thod used to pinpoint Jimmy's location, if it involved system queries, was likely through mobile tracking and vehicle GPS data. Investigating who accessed the system from yesterday afternoon to today's midday should narrow down the scope. I suggest it would be best to inquire the base-level data from DC, as our office is currently unable to exclude any suspects."
Hughes nodded, "Okay, I'll handle it. You go back and start checking on the gunn."
Mahong nodded and left Hughes's office.
Back at his side, Jimmy had the fastest fingerprint comparison, and unquestionably, all four individuals had criminal records and had been incarcerated. He returned to the office with a stack of A4 papers.
Jimmy: "The results are out. The identities of all four individuals have been verified. Have a look."
Jimmy distributed the docunts to Mahong and Philicia, "The two who are alive; the driver is nad Sean Moore, and the gunman, David Cowell. The firearms comparison isn't back yet, probably by tomorrow morning."
After distributing the docunts, Jimmy put his own copy on the desk, "Mahong, what did Hughes say?"
Mahong looked up at Jimmy, "Hughes will handle the mole; we just have to deal with the gunn. Their interrogation begins tomorrow, Philicia."
Philicia nodded, "Understood."
Jimmy: "What about ?"
Mahong: "You have free reign. I won't restrict your movent, but it's best to remain within a short distance so we can reach you quickly if support is needed."
Jimmy nodded, took out his phone, and walked out, "I'm going to make a call."
-----------------
Jimmy entered an empty conference room and pressed the call button, and the person on the other end answered quickly: "Director Watson, this is Jimmy, Jimmy from the FBI."
Watson: "Is there sothing wrong?"
Jimmy: "Are you available?"
There was a pause on Watson's end before he spoke, "Co over."
Jimmy thanked him, hung up the phone, and planned to utilize so special abilities. When it ca to surveillance capabilities, neither the NYPD's control center nor the FBI's ca close to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau.
As for whether Jimmy's identity would be exposed, it no longer mattered to him. He increasingly felt indifferent. It wasn't that he underestimated them, but if the Boxer from last ti was already an Anti-Terrorism Bureau or a top CIA agent, then Jimmy's previous fear of the CIA was no longer so great. Those movie-like omnipotent CIA agents were clearly a completely different story from the actual agents.
Last ti, helping Watson had resulted in Jimmy getting hurt, and Watson definitely acknowledged this favor. This ti, Watson had to help him no matter what.
Jimmy returned to his office, picked up the two videotapes Chuck had delivered, greeted Mahong, and then left the office.
-----------------
Jimmy arrived at the Anti-Terrorism Bureau, showed his credentials, and the receptionist contacted Supervisor Watson, allowing Jimmy to go upstairs. As he went up, Jimmy wondered, what serious matter had occurred? Why did the people here seem a bit off?
Jimmy reached the command center and knocked on the glass door. Inside, Supervisor Watson was standing and looking at a monitor displaying a photo of a man with black hair and so disorganized information, as well as a monitor displaying a map of a city district.
Watson turned and saw Jimmy, then ca out of the command center. "Jimmy, is sothing wrong?"
Jimmy shook hands with Watson, "Supervisor Watson, I'm here to ask for your help. Two days ago, I was shot at, and today soone tried to kill . I'm requesting your help with investigating their origins."
Watson frowned, "They shot at you? Twice?"
Jimmy nodded, "The first ti was a motorcycle, two people. The person on the back seat fired four shots at and then fled. The second ti it was a car with four people; I've already caught two of them, but they are in the hospital right now, so I temporarily can't interrogate them."
Watson shook his head, "Sorry, Jimmy, we're currently dealing with a very serious matter and can't provide any help to you for the ti being."
Jimmy sounded disappointed, "How long might it take?"
Watson shook his head, "I can't give you a ti right now."
Jimmy thought for a mont, "Can I wait here for a while?"
Watson: "Find a conference room and stay there." After speaking, he turned and went back to the command center.
Jimmy was helpless as the Anti-Terrorism Bureau was busy with their mission. He glanced once more through the glass at the screens on the wall before heading towards an empty conference room to wait, hoping their task would end soon.
It wasn't until evening that a staff mber ca to call Jimmy to the command center. Upon arriving, Jimmy handed over the two videotapes to the staff to be converted to computer files and then requested surveillance from the Holland Tunnel entrance. The gunn's car had entered the tunnel shortly after Jimmy, and the timing was clear, making investigation easier.
The car they were driving had fake plates; Jimmy had already investigated this. The real license plate was on another car, so the best tracking thod was to use surveillance footage for backtracking, a top skill of the Anti-Terrorism Bureau known for its speed and accuracy, much stronger than that of the control center.
After explaining all investigation details, Jimmy could finally leave. As for Watson, he wasn't even in the command center but had told the people there to assist Jimmy before he left.
The next day, Jimmy didn't return to the bureau but went directly to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau. In the command center, he saw the results of their investigation from the previous night.
The motorcycle video extracted a parking lot where the motorcycle had been seen, and they even found video of the motorcycle entering the parking lot from hidden caras. Previously, Jimmy knew about the extra caras the Anti-Terrorism Bureau had installed in New York, which weren't under the NYPD control center's surveillance range.
Proceeding backwards, they finally pinpointed the initial appearance of the motorcycle at an auto repair shop, which looked very familiar to Jimmy as he had just been there recently to repair his rcury.
The car, however, did not have a confird origin point from surveillance, only the earliest district it appeared in, which did not allow backtracking to their hideout.
Now, the target had been confird: that auto repair shop.
