Because it was winter, there weren't any active animals to be found in the forest; most of them would likely be hibernating or hiding at this ti. There weren't any large animals in this forest, which was information provided by the factory security guards. For Jimmy, this was good news. A brown bear in the area would have been trouble for him.

Jimmy's Heart Eye had a limited range, approximately 50 to 60 ters in practice. Although this distance was more than sufficient for his revolver combat, it was a bit inadequate for searching for people.

In such a vast expanse of woods, Jimmy's search efficiency was only slightly better than the average person's, requiring him to run around and use Heart Eye to cover other areas. In over half an hour, he couldn't cover much ground, but Jimmy left the forest early for the safety of his car—he couldn't stay there too long.

Back in the car, Jimmy took out the ergency rations stored inside, which were just chocolate cookies and water. These things could provide so energy. He had planned to find a hotel to stay in for the night, but because of his own speculation, Jimmy still wanted to check his hunch.

With nothing better to do, Jimmy pulled out his phone and called Mahong to ask about the progress. Mahong's side was doing okay; since the withdrawal was from an ATM, they captured his face on cara. Even with a hat and a mask, they were able to obtain his appearance from other surveillance footage based on his clothes, confirming that he was the fugitive Caron Brown.

Since it happened in an urban area with lots of people and buildings, they hadn't pinpointed exactly where he was hiding, but with police cooperation on Mahong's side, they were bound to find him unless they were extrely unlucky.

From the clues at hand, everyone had pieced together what happened after the escape.

The two fugitives, Riley and Brown, had erged from the sewers and started running along the road. Then they encountered the unlucky Aaron Burns, who, for so unknown reason, pulled over and let them into his car. After driving around for a while, they ended up at the Hudson River's edge.

The pair robbed Burns and forced the PIN out of him. Afterwards, they killed Burns, took his clothes and luggage to the riverbank, changed clothes, and then split up to escape.

Riley headed north, and from the direction, it seed he had plans to flee to Canada after escaping from prison. Given that New York State borders Canada, there were many ways to escape, either overland or across Lake Ontario by water.

Brown headed south, wearing Burns's clothes to Newburgh and withdrawing money directly from Burns's credit card. Considering his route, he was likely planning to hide within the United States or possibly escape southward to xico.

While Mahong and Philicia worked with the police to track down Brown's location, Jimmy was the only one left to pursue Riley in the north. It was either a case of the able taking on more work or maybe just that Jimmy was having a run of bad luck.

It was already 8 p.m., and the residential house remained empty, suggesting that no one would be coming at night. Jimmy's car was parked in front of the house. He observed the road while idling in the car, and to prevent running out of gas, he didn't even start the engine to turn on the air conditioning, enduring the cold—it was rather miserable.

However, at least it was better than what fugitive Riley was likely experiencing. There were too few houses in this area, and unless sothing unexpected happened, Riley would probably have to stay in the forest, at most constructing a makeshift shelter. In this frigid weather, Jimmy wondered if he might freeze to death.

Although well-prepared, Jimmy's efforts turned out to be futile—he waited until 2 a.m. and still didn't see anyone walking on the road.

Starting the car, Jimmy drove forward. If his current position was already toward the back, then moving a few kiloters forward should increase the chances of encountering fugitive Riley.

At that mont, Jimmy's was the only car on the road. He turned on the high beams and drove slowly because, besides traveling, he had to watch for signs of people hiding within a few dozen ters on either side of the road. Since Riley and his companion had managed to rob the unfortunate Burns, it was possible they would notice Jimmy driving alone and attempt the sa tactic. Jimmy was setting a trap to see if he could lure him out.

Looking at the odoter, Jimmy calculated he had covered 5 kiloters and hadn't seen a ghost of anyone, which was quite disheartening. However, after driving a bit further, a human-shaped shadow suddenly appeared in his Heart Eye, but it made his scalp tingle because, within the range of Heart Eye, he could see it was floating above the ground. It was just a few ters from the roadside where there was nothing to conceal it, yet it was invisible to the naked eye.

Jimmy promptly drew the 1875 revolver from under his right arm with his left hand and drove another dozen ters before slamming on the brakes. As Jimmy's car ca to a stop, the shadow suddenly beca visible to the eye—a female ghost, moving away from her original location towards the roadside and gesturing to Jimmy.

Jimmy opened the car door and got out, switching the 1875 to his right hand. He didn't bother with the customary greetings seen in the movies but raised his gun and fired instead. However, out of a full six-round volley, only two shots hit. The female figure abruptly dissipated into a puff of smoke and, still within Heart Eye's focus, drifted towards Jimmy.

Jimmy didn't wait and began removing the .44 Magnum bullets from the gun holster with his left hand. The smoke didn't affect him—in fact, he could still see the white dots within the smoke. The miss had been an accident. When in human form, the density of white dots was higher. After hitting two shots and turning into smoke, the dots dispersed, causing Jimmy to fire four empty shots.
