Mary and Jenna clearly had a knack for dining, conversing with the waiter about cooking thods and consulting the chef for recomnded dishes before finally deciding on their als.
Jimmy, "You know, I have sothing I want to ask, Mary, Jenna, have you ever rented a yacht?"
Jenna blinked, her face puzzled, "What?"
Jimmy, "I have so ti lately and want to rent a yacht to go fishing, but I haven't rented one before, nor do I know how to operate a boat. Have you ever rented one? What's the process?"
Jenna looked at Mary, then nodded, "Of course, it's quite fun to go out with a few people when you're free. And why would you operate the boat yourself? The club provides a captain."
Jimmy, "Can you go sea fishing too?"
Jenna, "No, small yachts can only cruise nearby; they don't go out to sea. If you really want to go out to sea, it's best to check with a yacht club. What made you think of this?"
Jimmy, "Just for fun, there isn't enough ti to go elsewhere, so taking a yacht out for a spin seems nice."
Mary gently tapped Jenna's arm, "Haven't you figured it out yet? Jimmy has a girlfriend now."
Jenna, "Ah?"
Jimmy also nodded, "That's right, you all are paired up, should I remain single forever? I was just looking for sothing for two to enjoy together, and it just happened that I went to a Yacht Club a couple of days ago, which gave this idea."
Jenna looked Jimmy up and down, "I never thought, you, a Grandet, would also spend money on dating."
Jimmy hastened, "How am I a Grandet? Don't talk nonsense."
Jenna, "Looking at how you seldom spend on yourself, look at your clothes, look at your watch."
Jimmy was speechless, "I'm an FBI agent, you know, wearing a suit worth thousands of dollars feels like courting death too slowly? OPR even investigated my assets a while back. Besides, this isn't too bad, it all adds up to a few thousand dollars."
Jenna, "Okay, you have your reasons. Renting a yacht is simple, don't worry, they can provide a captain, and there are no safety issues if it's just around New York."
Jimmy nodded; Jenna clearly knew how to have fun and certainly knew more than he did. Since she said so, there should be no problem; now it just depended on when he could take a vacation.
After they finished their al, when Jenna left her seat, Jimmy finally got a chance to talk to Mary alone.
Jimmy, "Mary, I might need your help with sothing. Could you co by the bureau in the next few days? Stop by my office for a cup of tea."
Mary smiled, "You really do have sothing in mind, just say it, we've known each other for so long, no need for all this."
Jimmy nodded, "Okay, then I'll just say it. My office recently got a new boss, a very nice guy, but he seed to be in a bad mood a few days ago, his whole deanor was off, though he has recovered now."
Jimmy glanced toward the bathroom, Jenna hadn't co back yet, "You know the nature of my job. If the boss has these psychological issues, it's not good for our normal case work. I had soone look into it, he just got divorced a few months ago, and the children are with his ex-wife, I guess his unstable ntal state is related to that."
"I want to ask you to take a look, it would at least give so idea."
Mary frowned, well, even a frowning beauty looked good, "Are you overthinking it?"
Jimmy shook his head slightly, "I hope I'm wrong, but he really made worry a few days ago. He just arrived in Manhattan, took on his first case, and suddenly acted like he didn't know how to handle a case, blindly demanding investigations without considering whether conditions were t or anything. After he got back to normal a couple of days ago, whether it was personnel or the sorting of case clues, things only then got back on track."
"Honestly, even though I was new and had only handled a few cases, his behavior still surprised , even when I first ca to New York, I had never been that reckless."
Mary nodded, "You're sure he really lost control then?"
Jimmie: "I'm sure, he was indeed very impulsive."
Mary saw Jenna returning and nodded at Jimmie: "I got it, I'll inform you about the ti later, it should be in the next few days."
Jimmie: "Thanks, I really appreciate it."
Jenna ca back and wrapped her arm around Mary, asking, "What were you two talking about behind my back?"
Jimmie was speechless. Can't you two stop showing off your love?
After dinner, Jimmie drove the two ho. He hadn't drunk much today because he was driving. Yet again, his blue rcury was criticized by Jenna, leaving Jimmie with no choice.
He really didn't want to get rid of his first car; he was quite sentintal. It's not that he couldn't afford a better one. The issue was that he lived in an apartnt in New York and didn't even have his own parking spot, but rented one in an external parking lot. Buying a better car wouldn't make sense as he mainly drove the departnt's vehicles.
Speaking of which, maybe he should change his apartnt later? This thought circled around then flew away. He was alone, so his current apartnt was sufficient. If he planned to get married later, he'd move to a larger house. Anyway, he wasn't really short of money. Fully paying for a large house was not possible, but a larger apartnt was definitely manageable.
Lately, Nia, the big-hearted blonde, was also going a bit crazy. She had never expected to face a surge of cases right after becoming a full detective, and she had been working overti for several days. It was strange; maybe it was because sumr had arrived, the season when everything becos restless, and all sorts of peculiar cases were popping up. New cases ca in every day, then assigned to different detectives to handle.
Originally, she was supposed to train with Chuck for a while, but now Chuck was working overti, so she did too.
Jimmie took a detour to Chinatown to buy roast duck and so side dishes for a late-night snack, driving directly to the station to deliver them. After having a big al himself, he couldn't let them work overti on burgers alone; after all, she was officially his girlfriend.
Chuck was delighted to see Jimmie carrying food. Ever since Nia and Jimmie started dating, Jimmie had been visiting more frequently, bringing more food.
Nia gave him a kiss and then went with Chuck to the conference room with the late-night snacks. Jimmie, holding a file Nia was reviewing, followed them in, "You guys have been having a lot of cases recently, huh? Been working overti continuously."
Chuck, eating a piece of roast duck, replied as he chewed, "Yeah, it's been insanely busy. It seems necessary to apply for a special operation upstairs."
Jimmie: "The gang-related ones?"
Chuck: "All kinds, theft cases have also increased a lot."
Jimmie: "I can't help with that; the cases you transferred to the other day are still unresolved."
After eating two pieces, Chuck put down his chopsticks: "Don't worry, we can handle it, but don't think about pulling Nia away for now."
Jimmie smiled: "I'm just showing a little concern. With such a frequency of overti, you guys deserve a raise! Alright, I won't bother you anymore." Jimmie leaned down and kissed Nia on the back, "I'm heading back first, Nia."
Nia started to get up to see Jimmie off, but he pushed her back into her chair. Jimmie then turned and left, it was better not to disturb them during such busy tis.
Speaking of which, shouldn't Nia's dad show so concern? He is a deputy chief after all. It's too much if he shows no concern with his daughter being this busy.
Jimmie mumbled to himself about Nia's dad as he descended the stairs to drive ho to rest. Thankfully, the FBI side had fewer tasks, and was much more relaxed.
