Gordon took Scott and the others back to the FBI office, and by then, it was already after hours. However, because of Jimmy's situation, Hughes hadn't gone ho yet.
Gordon went to Hughes's office to request surveillance team assistance for monitoring the suspect identified by the Anti-Terrorism Bureau and also reported on the progress of the bomb case. Finally, he asked about Jimmy's situation, but Hughes rebuffed him, saying he was dealing with another independent case.
Gordon returned to the conference room they had been using, where he assigned surveillance tasks to Scott and the others. The surveillance team needed to be in place by the next day, so now they could go rest.
Scott: "Did you ask about Jimmy's situation?"
Gordon: "Yes, but Hughes wasn't telling the truth. It seems there's an ergency with Jimmy that needs imdiate attention, but it's unrelated to us; we're just temporarily without his support. Alright, we're set to depart tomorrow as planned."
Gordon went back to the hotel and, while resting that night, saw a video playback on TV that finally revealed what was happening with Jimmy.
The next day, Gordon arranged for everyone else to go handle their tasks while he called Jimmy.
Gordon: "Jimmy, what was that video I saw last night? It was taken during your investigation of the warehouse, right? Why would that video be released?"
Jimmy, helpless, said: "The n I injured are gang mbers. Their boss released the video out of spite because they had secretly installed the surveillance themselves, so we didn't notice it at the scene. Don't worry, Hughes and the others are handling it, and once things here are settled, I'll help you with the bomb case."
Gordon: "No need to rush. I've already requested the surveillance team, and we'll take care of the rest. Since there's no issue now, I'll hang up, goodbye."
After hanging up, Gordon thought it over but ultimately decided not to call headquarters. This sort of thing could probably be handled by New York itself.
Jimmy tossed his phone onto the coffee table. Gordon is from the DC headquarters, so he definitely couldn't tell him the real reason—Huster had specifically warned yesterday that DC headquarters mustn't know about this yet.
Because he didn't have work today, Jimmy had a good sleep. He had just gotten up not long ago.
In one go, he fried several eggs and also took out pre-prepared bread, energy bars, chocolate, and instant food. From the safe in his study, Jimmy took out the Black Rainbow.
Since Jack had ntioned that the process of rging with the rainbow was very painful, Jimmy didn't know if it was physical or ntal. But it was indeed a good opportunity because, due to the unexpected accident, Hughes and the others would need a long ti to deal with it, so his forced vacation definitely wouldn't just be two days. With no one to disturb him and being forcefully required to stay ho, it was the perfect ti to rge with the Black Rainbow.
Jimmy didn't smash the Black Rainbow on the floor. As Jack had ntioned becoming the closest person, there were apartnts beneath the floor. What if there was a Spiderman hanging on the ceiling? So, Jimmy placed the Black Rainbow directly on a chair and padded it with a pillow underneath to keep it steady in that position. He sat cross-legged next to it on the carpet and started examining the Black Rainbow with a hamr in hand.
Just like when Jimmy first received the Black Rainbow, it was a round crystal ball design, with black flowing colors inside that seed to be moving—or perhaps not at all. Staring at the all-black Black Rainbow for a long ti, one's gaze couldn't even shift away, as if about to get sucked in.
After observing for a while, Jimmy weighed the hamr in his hand and suddenly smashed it onto the top of the Black Rainbow. He aid precisely; the Black Rainbow didn't move sideways but was directly pressed down into the pillow, wedged between the hamr and the chair.
Well, it seed Jimmy had underestimated the Black Rainbow. Its shell was definitely not made of ordinary glass; the hamr made no impact at all. He twisted the hamr, using the horn tip this ti, and applied even more force. Finally, with a crack, the horn tip embedded into the Black Rainbow, followed by the crystal ball shattering.
The Black Rainbow, as if having its own will, burst open instantly. Yet, apart from hearing the crystal ball shattering, Jimmy heard no other sound.
The Black Rainbow exploded like fireworks, scattering in all directions. What was initially just a small amount of black substance in a tiny crystal ball now seed to expand greatly, quickly engulfing Jimmy's body.
Jimmy didn't dodge because, as Jack had ntioned, to rge with the Black Rainbow, he needed to co into contact with it. Throughout the process, Jimmy kept Heart Eye active, observing that everywhere the Black Rainbow covered turned completely black, devoid of any other color. After initial expansion, the Black Rainbow quickly retracted, forming an elliptical black sphere that enveloped Jimmy.
