Jimmy left the police station and returned to his office, and soon received a notification that Ryan from Queens would be coming to see him later. Jimmy didn't think much of it, but after Ryan shared his purpose for the visit, Jimmy realized he had been too optimistic.
A few days earlier, when Jimmy had gone to support Ryan, he had killed a man who had opened fire on Ryan. This individual was not their initial target, but he had started shooting at the FBI agents at the scene, and Jimmy had no choice but to shoot him back. According to system queries and the testimony of another young survivor, the man Jimmy had killed was wanted in another state. After investigating, they discovered that the deceased carried two serious arrest warrants for ard robbery and murder, along with a criminal record that included prison ti.
This man's case still required the FBI to make contact and confirm details, and it was possible that local police would co here to investigate and close the case if necessary. If needed, Jimmy might have to participate in the hearing.
Actually, the outco wasn't too bad. Attacking an FBI agent was enough to get him in serious trouble, and with his prior cases, even if he hadn't died, he would have been imprisoned for many decades and might have died in prison anyway. In this sense, his death was a kind of release for him.
Jimmy knew supporting missions were never good news. He was resigned to this, and fortunately, the only trouble was procedural matters. There would be no one questioning the legality and necessity of Jimmy's shot, so the rest didn't matter, as the worst outco would simply be administrative leave rather than suspension.
After seeing Ryan off, Jimmy continued to enjoy his relatively leisurely work life. Chris hadn't returned yet, and Jimmy was still sowhat in a state of relaxed oversight.
After an uneventful couple of days, Jimmy received a phone call from Jack, who arranged to et him at a café in Brooklyn.
Jimmy opened the safe, packed the gun and the Black Crystal given to him by Roland in the box he previously used, and also included a box of .44 Magnum Bullets he had bought earlier.
This eting with Jack might be his only chance in the near future to understand all these items, although he wasn't sure if Jack knew about them. However, since Jack had lived with Roland for many years, there were many things he was theoretically supposed to know.
Jimmy arrived at the café with the box and sat next to a middle-aged Caucasian man with short brown hair dressed in a suit, with a coat hanging on his chair, a coffee in front of him, and a newspaper in his hands.
Jimmy walked over and asked the man, "Jack?"
Jack folded the newspaper and placed it on the table, "Take a seat, Jimmy. How are you now?"
Jimmy sat opposite him, placing the box under the table, "Not bad, now based permanently in New York. How about you?"
Jack shook his head, "Nothing much about my life is worth talking about, just getting by. It's been many years, and you seem to be doing quite well. What will you have?"
Jimmy gestured to call the server over and ordered a coffee, then looked at Jack, "Do you know the reason for eting this ti?"
Jack waved his finger and didn't speak again until the server brought Jimmy's coffee and there were no other people nearby. Then he said to Jimmy, "Roland has already gone back, you know that, right?"
Jimmy nodded, "Yes, soone sent a letter from him before, telling he had gone back already. What exactly happened? Roland has been here for many years, why would he suddenly want to return?"
Jack said, "He just wanted to return to his hotown, and I accompanied him. We stayed there for a few months, and I just got back a few days ago."
Jimmy said, "Nothing happened to him, right? I envy that you guys can go to other worlds."
Jack said, "There's nothing to envy, the world there isn't as exciting as ours. Roland's world is similar to our dieval era, life is quite inconvenient, no cars, no planes, no televisions, no phones. And this probably was my last trip there, without Roland, I wouldn't dare go on my own."
"Okay, the main reason for this visit is to update you, Roland has already returned to his hotown, he doesn't want to wander around anymore, he plans to settle down there."
"Roland told about your situation, don't worry, I will keep it a secret. The items that were delivered to you were ones we went looking for together. The gun was easy, it was left on a previous battlefield, but the Black Rainbow was a bit trickier. The n in black had already collected a few of the rainbows; we had to search near their base for a long ti to find the Black Rainbow. The other rainbows are now untraceable."
"You must be careful with the Black Rainbow. If you plan to use it, prepare in advance. Roland is quite worried, you might not be able to handle it."
Jimmy asked, glancing around, "What's the problem with the Black Rainbow? Is it dangerous? What exactly is the Black Rainbow?" The café wasn't busy, and there were only a few people around, who were quite far from them.
Jack replied, "The Black Rainbow is one of rlin's Thirteen Rainbows, it represents rlin's magical power. Roland had obtained one before, and that is why he could disregard the magic of the n in black. I'm not sure what exactly the powers of the Black Rainbow are, only that Roland said integrating with the rainbow was extrely painful for him. Considering how fit he is, and he described it as being very painful, for you, it could be not just painful but potentially dangerous."
