Scarface's expression had been sour ever since he stepped out of the car. He stared at Ruiz without speaking or moving. Ruiz raised his voice and continued, "I said, open the door!"

Scarface turned his head toward a subordinate who hadn't managed to get on the vehicle and nodded at him. The subordinate pulled the rolling shutter, opening the warehouse.

Ruiz and the police officers shone their flashlights into the warehouse and suddenly realized it was almost empty, with only a few boxes by the wall. His face changing dramatically, Ruiz quickly ran inside. Jimmy, standing nearby, didn't move at all; he knew there was nothing significant in the warehouse. Now that Ruiz and the police had entered, he simply drew his pistol and held it loosely by his right side, watching Scarface and his n.

Ruiz checked the few boxes inside the warehouse, then turned and walked out. He approached Scarface with a gloomy expression, "When did you move everything?"

Scarface snorted and smirked, "I don't understand what you're talking about. We were just cleaning out the warehouse to make room for the next shipnt."

Ruiz gritted his teeth and pointed at Scarface, his hands trembling slightly.

Scarface continued. "You've searched the warehouse. Can I go now? Agent, what should I call you?"

Ruiz eventually suppressed his anger. He took a deep breath, nodded, and turned around to shout,"Wrap it up." Then he headed toward his car.

Scarface watched Ruiz turn around and smiled, then got into his vehicle. In the gap surrounded by police cars, two vehicles, unintercepted, drove away directly.

Jimmy did not disturb Ruiz. He drove his car, following behind Ruiz. The Port Authority police, who had been with them, had already returned to their posts, and the surveillance team following Scarface continued after him.

Ruiz drove for a while, then stopped by the roadside and got out of the car. Jimmy followed and got out, too, joining Ruiz. He took out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, handing them to Ruiz. The two n lit their cigarettes and stood by the roadside, silently watching the river nearby.

After half a cigarette, Jimmy spoke first, "Ruiz, how many people knew about the search at the warehouse?"

Ruiz replied, "I know what you an. Stop right there, the problem is with the Port Authority."

Ruiz took a deep puff of his cigarette, flicked it to the ground, and stomped on it. "Given T14 is into mariti smuggling, they must be in contact with the folks from the Port Authority. When I notified them, I even explicitly warned them to keep it a secret. Judging by the empty warehouse, they must have cleared it out shortly after I inford them. This isn't sothing a simple phone call by one or two people can accomplish; there must be quite a few people involved in the Port Authority."

Jimmy asked, "Should we handle the Port Authority?"

Ruiz shook his head, "I would like to, but it's not possible. The Port Authority's jurisdiction is too complex. Although we have enough authority to intervene, it's too cumberso and could easily be exploited by those with ulterior motives. Then it wouldn't just be about investigating dereliction of duty and corruption, but it could beco a political tool. Our focus should still be on T14; I'll continue to keep an eye on them."

After finishing his statent, Ruiz turned and walked back to his car. When he reached the driver's side, he spoke without facing Jimmy, "Scarface, I won't let him get away."

Jimmy watched Ruiz get into the car. He didn't say goodbye to Jimmy; he just drove off. Jimmy looked up at the distant skyscrapers, the shimring city lights, realizing just how many hidden things existed in the darkness.
