Ray had been chasing for nearly half an hour and finally caught up with the police car convoy on Route 20 in the southern part of Fort Worth. The cash transport heist was a major case. In addition to the highway patrol from the Texas State Police, a helicopter had also been dispatched and was following the two robbers' cars from the air. However, due to the distance, Ray and Jimmy couldn't yet see the robbers ahead of them, their view blocked by the vehicles. For now, they could only follow the police cars.

Of course, besides the State Police, police from Arlington and Fort Worth had also been notified. So Fort Worth police were following behind, while others had already prepared to intercept at the roadblock ahead.

Since the helicopter joined the pursuit, the robbers up ahead knew they were in trouble. They continued for a while before suddenly exiting the highway through an off-ramp and entering a residential area of southern Fort Worth. The roads here were narrower, limiting speeds for both the robbers and the pursuing police.

In such a residential area, if the robbers' vehicles persisted, they would eventually find an intersection to shake off the police cars. For police chasing at high speeds, the easiest places to escape are residential areas with many intersections and rural dirt roads with small woodlands.

As for outrunning the police cars with sheer speed, well, that usually had a low success rate, especially with a helicopter in the sky. This approach was utterly hopeless.

From the robbers' choice, it was clear they knew how to shake off police cars. They andered through the residential area, and although so police cars left the convoy to set up a periter, they were still unsuccessful.

Eventually, two pickup police cars parked diagonally on a narrow road ahead; the robbers' cars turned at an intersection, one behind the other. The car in the rear managed to turn and escape in ti, while the front one, after a sharp brake and a U-turn, was hit on the side by a police car that had caught up, sending it towards a nearby house. It crashed into a car parked in front of the house, where the police successfully halted it.

The other robbers' vehicle, after turning, switched routes at the intersection and wasn't stopped. The following police cars continued the chase.

Ray didn't continue driving to chase the fleeing vehicle but stopped not far from the halted robbers' car. Several police cars stopped as well, and the robbers, having crashed the car, had already left it with guns in hand and rushed into the nearest house, knowing too well that they couldn't outrun the nurous police cars and officers on foot.

The houses here were single-family hos, not high-rise apartnts like in the city, with small front lawns and backyards. Because the police didn't shoot when the robbers got out, they managed to run smoothly into the house. Although the door was locked, the robbers seed professional, kicking it open with one strike—sothing Jimmy had to learn several tis to achieve in one go.

Shortly after the robbers entered the house, there were screams inside, which then went silent, probably indicating the hoowner had been taken hostage.

The police had surrounded the house from the front, back, and sides; however, because the robbers were ard with rifles and shotguns, the police stayed quite far back, using cover carefully to avoid exposing themselves to the robbers' gunfire.

The number of police on the scene today definitely exceeded the norm, with more than half having chased after the other vehicle. Still, there remained more than twenty officers at the scene, with fewer from the FBI since there was only one vehicle not a police car, naly the one driven by Ray, aning only Ray and Jimmy were there.

After Ray got out of the car, he took a Bullet-Proof Vest from the trunk, put it on, and carrying an M16, approached the police for a briefing, temporarily taking over command. He arranged for the sergeant to call the Special Police Team for support; before their arrival, they kept the suspects contained.

Jimmy and Ray had already hung their FBI badges around their necks, so despite wearing casual jeans and cowboy hats, no one stopped them.

Drawing his revolver, Jimmy approached the house from the side. The current tactical plan was clearly to contain and wait for the Special Police Team. Scouting in advance was beneficial.

Three robbers had exited the vehicle earlier, and now there were five shadows inside the house—one sitting on the floor, two near a window surveilling, and two more in a room. Soon, the latter two ca out, one joining the person on the floor, which indicated those were likely the hoowners.

Jimmy cautiously circled the vicinity, picking spots to observe the people inside, all from blind spots to ensure safety. With the hoowners controlled, the three robbers inside also drew the curtains, covering any view into the house.

The exterior walls of these single-family hos, mostly made of brick and stone, ant that shooting blindly through the walls wasn't practical since the hollow bricks could severely deflect the bullets' path.

After making a round, Jimmy returned to Ray's side.

Jimmy:"Ray, how long until the Special Police Team gets here?"

Ray, looking at the house, told Jimmy, "Fifteen minutes, twenty at most. The Special Police Team's base is on the other side of the city, and this area is too remote."

Jimmy: "I just scouted a bit; there are hostages inside. Check if the police have a negotiation specialist. They can't run now, at least let's make sure they don't harm the hostages."
