Privately informing Jimmy of the position isn't the final decision; of course, we must wait for the official job transfer notice, which ans Jimmy and Ruiz haven't discussed much and continue slacking off at work as usual.
Departnt leadership changes have never been simple. David has been in charge of the Anti-Gang Unit for two or three years, and to suddenly be transferred out is quite unexpected. To ensure a smooth transition for the Anti-Gang Unit without causing any disturbance, David needs so ti to arrange for his trusted aides and his future plans, as well as other possibly affected areas. In short, it's not as simple as parachuting a leader into a company, especially since David hasn't made any mistakes or had any accidents, and Dave and the others aren't about to just let go of a Supervisory Special Agent-level person.
However, Jimmy can't really start doing anything until he officially has the position so he can engage in Anti-Gang Unit affairs. So, this private notification is just reassuring, but there's nothing much he can do. Of course, he could arrange for people to prepare over there, but that might seem a bit tactless.
After work, Jimmy went to the bar to wait, and soon Mark and Julia, his forr subordinates, also ca in for drinks.
"Mark, Julia." Jimmy raised his glass, and the two clinked their beers with his. "How's it going over at the Homicide Team?"
Mark started speaking: "It's okay, we've had a few more cases in recent months, but nothing too difficult."
Jimmy: "How's Ray?"
Mark glanced at Julia, who shrugged: "Pretty good, all things considered."
Jimmy looked at Julia in surprise, then turned to Mark, "Hmm?"
Mark nodded, and Jimmy chuckled, "Looks like you're all doing well, congratulations."
After so small talk, Jimmy looked at Mark and said: "Mark, any interest in working with again?"
Mark looked surprised at Jimmy, knowing very well about Jimmy's transfer to the Support Team where there aren't many cases to handle. "What?"
Jimmy: "I might be switching departnts soon."
Mark clinked his beer bottle with the glass Jimmy had on the table: "I'll be waiting for your news."
Julia suddenly raised her voice: "What about ? I'm waiting too."
Jimmy shrugged: "Julia, Ray's a good guy, seize the opportunity. I can't be ddling in your affairs."
Julia: "No way, I'll break up with him imdiately then."
Jimmy waved his hand: "Don't overthink it. I might take over the Anti-Gang Unit, not quite suitable for you."
Mark laughed heartily and patted Julia: "Just hang tight, Julia, I'm first in line this ti."
In a certain way, Jimmy wasn't the best leader. When he left the Homicide Team, apart from instructing his successor Ray to take care of two people, he didn't arrange much for them. But he was also a competent leader — at least during his ti with the Homicide Team, he had their backs whatever trouble Mark and Julia got into, so it was understandable they'd want to follow him again.
From Jimmy's perspective, Mark was more suitable for the Anti-Gang Unit he was about to lead. Julia, being more of a technical talent, wouldn't be of much use in the Anti-Gang Unit. His initial plan was to ask Mark, and now knowing Julia and Ray had gotten together, it was obvious he wouldn't take Julia with him to the Anti-Gang Unit.
Julia shrugged. Given the situation, she had to accept it and just drink.
With the decision that Mark could join him at the Anti-Gang Unit confird, Jimmy later arranged to have lunch with Ray to discuss it, noting there might be a vacancy in the Homicide Team soon. This could be a great chance for Ray to pick soone to fill the spot, which was indeed good news for him, as nurturing one of his own was important.
Regarding Julia and Ray's relationship, Ray didn't hide it. Although it wasn't certain if the two would really end up together in the long run, it was all too normal for these people to connect. It just hadn't been made public yet, only known to a close few.
Office romances can be taboo in so situations, but if they do occur, arrangents will naturally follow. It's sothing Jimmy doesn't need to worry about.

The appointnt ca for Jimmy at last. In David's office in the Anti-Gang Unit, Jimmy and David shook hands as they bid farewell. David had packed up his things, and now the office was mostly empty.
Once David left, Jimmy leaned back in the swivel chair, exhaling a long, deep breath — it was finally settled.
After a while, Jimmy got up and went outside the office, "Javier! Co in."
Javier Hernandez, who once worked on a case in xico with Jimmy, was injured in an explosion and stayed in the hospital for a few days; he was the person Jimmy had known the longest in the Anti-Gang Unit.
Javier knocked on the open glass door with a "tap tap," and walked into Jimmy's office, "Boss."
Jimmy waved his hand, "Just call Jimmy. What's our most urgent case recently?"
Javier: "No urgent cases, mainly surveillance on major families. We had a crackdown on small gangs earlier this year."
Jimmy nodded, "Prepare so reports for , I need to get up to speed."
Javier nodded and turned to leave, but Jimmy suddenly called him back, "Hold on, also help tally up our colleagues in the bureau. I'll treat everyone to afternoon tea."
